said they were calling from Montana Police Association. They asked me how some of the tropical weather was doing. They need to learn where they are calling, haven't seen a day above 90 degrees yet in this area for the 'summer'. I hung up on them of course.

My son (17) got a call on 7/29/08 at about 1:00 PM from 1-800-490-2570 while I was at work. The man calling claimed to be with the Montana Police Dept. Then he asked "Are you the head of the household?" to which my son replied "No." Then he asked if the head of the household was home at the time, and again my son replied "No." After that the guy said "Alright, then. Go back to sleep." then the call ended.

After my son told me this we began to worry that the call may have been a set-up by a potential robber to see if the house was vacant.

However, even though it wasn't, it certainly could have been. Perhaps it was just a survey or something, but overall the call seemed too suspicious. There's enough violence, robbery, vandalism, and other such illegal activities in the world to make one wonder what was really going on. Whoever is calling with this number should not be allowed to use a telephone.

I got a call from this number saying it was the "Maryland Sheriffs Association." I think it must be a hired fundraiser.

Just received a call from this number but the caller hung up after I answered the phone.  In the past I have had many agrivating calls from the Maryland Sheriffs Association wanting me to sponsor their annual policemans ball.

Just got a call from this number. The person said, Hello, Mr. (my last name)? and I said, "Hello" and he disconnected the call.

The others are right!  They "claim" to be from a hired fundraiser for police associations; but are they really?  Maybe -just maybe- they could be from another planet!  Think about that chief.  Yea.  Beta 4 Vega Galaxy 6!  Watch out...they're coming.  Annoying "alien" phone solicitors from another galaxy.  Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!  Block them now!  Sign up for the Nnational do not call list before it's too late!  Last chance before they drain your bank account for spacecraft fuel!  Run!!  Run!!

I just received a call from this number stating that he was collecting for the Iowa State Policemen's Association.  This may be the name of a real organization, but I know that they do not solicit money via telephone.  The caller also stated that the donation would not be tax deductible, which confirmed my suspicion of a fraudulant call.

They call me all the time.  They continuously call even when I ask them not to.  They told me they are collecting money for the Maryland Sheriff Association.  When I told them I don't want to donate the man angrily said "You don't care to support your local sheriff?"  I then asked for the address and phone number of their Maryland location so I could verify where my money was going to, and he hung up on me.  I am sick of these calls.  Even though I have asked at least a dozen times to have my number removed from their list over the past 3 years, I still receive the calls.  Constantly.  And the calls come at the most inappropriate times.....Sunday during family dinners, past 8pm on school nights, early Saturday mornings.....I am fed up.  This is harassment to the highest extreme.

Received a call today claiming to be Iowa Police Association - also asking about the "weather."   It was one of those autodialer calls that waits to see if someone picks up.

i received a call from them and my daughter said me and my wife were on vacation so they continued to ask her name age address my daughter is 14 so beware i think these people are up to no good hope this helps i tried to call back no answer said his name was tim or ted

Maryland Sheriffs don't have balls

I keep getting calls from this number.  When I answer, no one responds.

I picked up the phone on the second ring as I was curious who was calling. They immediately hung up.

i do get solicitations from chief of montana police and sheriff..they do call for fundraisers, .. or at least they have an organization assisting them make the calls to raise money for fundraisers.. so yes the police deparments are not telling you the truth when they say they do not solicite by phone.  They do and are very persistant for there fundraisers. you can not stop them. I have a agree to send a donation and then get the stub to submit donation a few days later. they just don't want to admit they are harrassing people.

Called on 13 December 2009.  Male voice asked for my wife by name.  I asked who was calling and was told "Steve".  I asked "Steve who?" and the caller hung up.

Sick of them calling and no reply  I pickup, they have call me 3 time once a day  from 11-10, 12, 14th of 2009 And I'm on the do NOT CALL LIST How do they get way with it ??

Turn these creeps in to the Feds. I did.

They keep calling every night after my wife goes to bed, then just hang up when I answer. I called them back for over an hour and got no answer but, they did pick up and hang up several times. They even left the phone off the hook for several minutes. But, just kept calling back, figuring they needed this line to make their fake charity calls. Heck everyone needs a hobby! As soon as they quit calling me I will quit calling them.

FYI to everyone getting calls from this #, I was told by my uncle a police officer, and also the hwy patrol office that the police (of any kind) do NOT solicit by phone... they will send a letter for any fundraiser of any kind for them or like a "police ball" or whatever... they will NOT call you!!!!! If you can get a name out of them, turn them in!!
Call your local police station and give them any information if you get them to talk to you - and get their name!!

They called it rang twice I answered and heard the man very clearly on the phone, "Just go get him, and have him ride with you".  He then went "Hello" I returned the hello and he hung up.

I am on the do not call list. I didn't answer. They left a lengthy voice mail consisting of =telemarketer boiler room= noises. No person said anything or left a message concerning the reason for the call.
