The caller ID shows them as "Free Toll Call" not USAA and it is not one of USAA's numbers. I am a USAA member and you can check their website just Google USAA. They do not leave a message but, call an hour apart - exactly when they do call - repeatedly. Would believe it's a scam of some type as otherwise why not leave a message???

I posted this same message on another page but wanted to post it here, too.

Someone called from this number and I was put on hold and heard the USAA message playing but after I got off the phone, I was really worried. I called USAA, entered in all the secure info. Talked to a rep and verified my identity. I explained about the call and the USAA rep asked me if I remembered what they were calling me to talk about. I told her the whole spill and she confirmed the name of the person I had spoken with earlier and that she was calling from USAA. What a relief!
**Usaa is really good to work with so if you tell them you're not interested in what they're pushing, they'll likely comply. Also, I would recommend calling the main USAA number on their site and if you have the name of the person who called, they may be able to verify it, as they did with me, and give you peace of mind.

Yes, it is USAA....Rec'd. call from 800-531-5192. Dialed it back, got the USAA spiel, then a women named "Mahd ". Hung up. Called USAA, 800-531-8722, spoke w/ rep named Jason, who confirmed that 800-531-5192 is a USSA contractor hired to perform surveys. It is NOT a phishing expedition. But...rather be safe than sorry.

HOOAH! I've been with USAA for years retired Dogface. I never got calls from them until tonight; I don't believe its the real USAA calling. I'm going to contact USAA about this.

This IS USAA. They want you to call them back so they can offer you s*** you don't need.

I am a member of USAA and have NEVER had them call unless I have initiated some sort of request.
DO NOT TRUST THIS CALLER
IF you are a USAA Member or qualify to become a member and feel the need to talk with the caller, please tell the caller you will call back (DO NOT CALL ANY NUMBER THEY PROVIDE) then visit the official USAA website to obtain legitimate contact info for USAA.

DO NOT provide information to the representatives calling from USAA. I just spoke to a rep from USAA with the who said that USAA will never call you to verify your banking information. I did not give this guy a chance to go into his little script but if you receive a call be sure to recoud the number and name of the person you speak with. The more information you can gather about these identity thieves the better.

This is USAA insurance. If you don't bank with USAA I don't know why they would be calling you. Number is legit, however.

I got a call from this number and let it go to voice mail....I listen to the voice mail and it said they wanted to go over my account and talk about bennfits they could offer...the number they left to call back was not a 531-XXXX number so I know it was not them...I have had messages from them and they never leave a 972 number...I would not call them back or give them any information

I just received a call from this number but it disconnected prior to any pickup on their end. I doubt this is USAA. I've been a HIGHLY satisfied USAA member for many years and they have NEVER called me -- not even to solicit for business. I do not have insurance with them (did originally -- and may go back) but even in this situation they have never solicited for business. When there was an issue with a potential risk with debit cards, they began monitoring the accounts, sent me a new card, and only when I received the new card and called them to activate it did I find out about the situation.
When I tried to reverse lookup this number -- it does NOT indicate USAA -- there is no information.
USAA is 1-800-365-USAA (8722); 1-800-531-USAA (8722); 1-877-314-2255; 1-888-825-2536; 1-800-531-1045

Its not a scam, but they are probably phishing for business. I bank with USAA and I am an active military person, so they are legit but if you are not in the military they probably are trying to solicit business.

called today, when i picked up it was like i was put on hold so i hung up = we are USAA members and Im trying to set my parents up with them. probably got my # from the application process.
asdf 2010-07-01 18:48:14 Unknown
Got a phone call from them today too. The message they left cut off and all I heard was "---insurance. Call back at your earliest convenience." Kind of annoying.
lisa 2010-05-24 20:33:08 Unknown
USAA does't typically do that. I'm a member and they've never called if I didn't prompt them too before hand. They don't offer their services to just anyone so I doubt that yours was a legit call. I know they've had problems with phishing scams lately as well.

I got a call today...and I too had to wait for music and as I hung up it sounded like a recording was coming on. I got an outrageous insurance quote and canceled it...so I assume they are trying to convince me to change...if this is the reason for the call I know they will continue to call until I answer.

Left a message on our voice mail touting USAA services to military families, which we are not, showing they either don't know or don't care who they call. How can they legally call folks like us who are on the federal "do not call" list? (Sic 'em FTC!) And why would anyone give them money when they can't even be trusted to use a telephone responsibly?
Leigh 2009-08-05 19:30:54 Unknown
i got a call just a few minutes ago at work... googled the number and found this website. I pick it up but a few seconds later the line went blank... What is this?
Randall 2009-08-03 18:57:47 Unknown
USAA typicaly leaves messages, even on cell phones.
B 2009-06-25 20:52:13 Unknown
I got the same thing, think it might be a phishing scam - see the USAA website.
David 2009-06-16 23:17:23 Unknown
I actually had the same thing happen to me today. I was at lunch, got a few seconds of music, and I hung up.
Mark 2008-12-08 23:01:03 Unknown
This number is from USAA, an insurance and financial services company catering to military and federal employees.
