Another update:
Today, I received a Mortgage Loan Prequalification letter from Chase. This is beginning to piss me off. It's from the original guy who called me (Brian McNamara). The letter contains an e-mail address, so I've e-mailed him to let him just what the hell I think of the situation.

Update from yesterday:
I called this morning to find out what was going on. I informed him that I didn't want to refinance. We'll see if that's the end of it.
BTW - I was apparently completely off on the California connection. I asked where he was located and was told they were in Ft. Washington, Penn.
There does appear to be a home lending division there.

I got a call from Chase (they said) a couple of days ago. They knew everything there was to know about my mortgage, so I took a chance and considered it to be legit. I could hear a lot of chatter in the background, which led me to believe that it was a boiler room.
They wanted to see if they could refinance my mortage at a lower rate. I got tranferred to someone else and I gave them some more information and the guy said that he'd call me back in about ten minutes. He did call back, but the guy told me that he couldn't give me a rate any lower than what I already had. He apologized for taking up my time and that was it.
Today (two days later), I get a message from someone named Tony Dunn from Chase. He says he wants to go ahead and start my loan! He leaves a number to call him back 1-800-550-4250 x4191. However, it's too late today to call back.
I Googled the number and got this list. Then, I Googled "Chase" and "Tony Dunn" and came up with a list of people in San Fransisco who ran in the JP Morgan/Chase challenge race. It looks like a 5k foot race.

It says that he works for a company (or department) called VMWARE. BTW - He finished 610 out of 1098.
I'll call back tomorrow to find out what the hell is going on.

It is JP Morgan Chase for refinancing a mortgage. Does anyone know if they're legit?
