Okay so today you wouldn't even believe this, or maybe you would. I received a letter from LISA HASTER and her HASTER LAW OFFICE, PA out of MINNEAPOLIS. It had "MATT" on it, with my last name. Claims I owed $9k or more to LVNV FUNDING LLC. Any cards I had have been over 7 years old, first of all. Second of all I'm on FULL ssi-disability because I have epilepsy. Also, one more thing, they listed UHC (united health care) as my employer or the "garnishee" hahaha I never worked there. This has got to be a fake. I REPORTED IT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I AM ALSO WRITING TO THE STATE ATTNY GENERAL IN MN. I have 2 lawyers in my family. I know the laws. You cannot mail a summons (no kidding they sent me a summons in the mail but there's no case number or anything hahah busted), and to top matters off -- you have to process through a process server or sheriff. You can't mail a summons, it's illegal in MINNESOTA. DO *NOT* PAY THESE PEOPLE. GO TO THE POLICE!

Received a call today from " Nathan Bodi(??) " who first claimed or insinuated to be a lawyer from Haster Law Firm.  This man was so rude from the get go that I knew something was not right (First red flag).  He said that our company has a past due debt from Citibank and that I HAD to take care of it immediately over the phone   ( second red flag).  I then asked for documentation in writing regarding any such debt and he said it was mailed out yesterday!!  ( Last red flag I needed to realize that this is going to get ugly, quick! )  I then asked him to fax a copy of the paper work now so I could see what he was talking about and he refused, saying that they don't have a copy?!?!?!  wtf., really??!?!?!  Then he starts bitching at me that I put him on hold for 10 minutes yesterday and did I do that to all my callers?  I asked him if he wanted to quibble about the hold or about the alleged debt??  Then I said to him..." as long as I have you on the phone I am going to Google your number and I am willing to bet anything that there are a sh*t load of complaints against your company! "  He said there probably was and he couldn't care less, then I asked him again if he is actually a lawyer and he changed his story to " I am a Paralegal for Lisa Haster who is an Attorney."  So I asked to speak to her and was told she was in court.  I said that's fine, I'll just leave her a message to call me when she gets out since court houses eventually close for the day at 5PM.  He wouldn't give me a number to call her!  Of course he got completely flustered by me and hung up.  I have since been doing some research and CANNOT find a license number for Lisa Haster in Minnesota anywhere!   This is what it claims on their website:

Haster LAW firm is a fraud!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY GET a lawyer and sue back there full of it calling every 5 mins and to your job no less stating they want a payment over the phone, then sending fake paper of debt. Have your parents call and tell them not to call again.  If they do call, contact a lawyer and sue them.  It is really simple.

I have been contacted by George Kortaba from this Lisa Haster law firm, harrassing me, on my cell phone, and at hours before 8:00 am. He is breaking laws, that he is suppose to not violate. He states he is a paralegal from Haster Law, and is very rude man. He has used  800-606-6841 & 952-540-4798 to contact me. just as he has told me all the conversations have been recorded, so have I recorded all conversations, I had a consumer agency try to make legal payment with him, and he rejected it!......Why? if he is collecting a debt? I have proof from this agency of his approach, and refusing to do anything that is legal thru another party that is not myself opening my checking account to them, I am willing to take the chance, if I am summon to court, I will hire an attorney to countersuit for their own harrassments and violations. I am also going to report him to Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General in Minnesota for his attacks, and these forms were provided to me from the third party.  Proof that this man is not willing to negotiate any settlement or payment that is another legal form of protection....Be ware of these people, do not hang up on them, listen, record, and have proof of their actions. HARRASSMENT IS AGAINST THE LAW!!

I am getting calls, stating I owe money from an old credit card, that was charged off, bought  by lake Icon portofolio Management 1, LLC and this attorney Hester law office is representing that company.  This is were is not consistent their paralegal George Kortaba of Hester law, wants to make a deal with me, he wants to save me money (not his client) and he is threatening me that if I do not pay, his attorney Lisa Hester of P.A. will send my case to my state, and file charges on her behalf. He wants payment over the phone, and does not want to provide me with any proof of the debt, because they don't have to since it was a credit card. I asked for proof of debt, once he came up with cutting a deal, and everything he offered in writing. Instead I got someone yelling and telling me that he was not going to waste his time with me, because I was being unworkable. That I should get a lawyer and prepare to be sued.

They are posing as a law office, but they are debt collectors!  They repeatedly call & ask for the same name which is not me.  A very harrassing company!

I have received several calls from 952-540-4786, two messages have been left by a Jake Curtis saying to return his call at 1-800-806-2324 regarding a legal matter. I have not returned the calls and so today this person calls my parents home, which I have never lived in the house that they live in or used their number and also tells my Mom it is regarding a legal matter and then asks her if she is responsible for my legal matters WTF...seriously! Like not 2 minutes after they called my Mom, my brother is calling me telling me that they called his cell phone..this is just crazy. I have never recieved anything in writting from them and until I do, I will not be responded. I will look in my state's laws for debt collection and consult with a lawyer before having any contact with them. I may just go ahead and send them a letter like a previous post suggested and tell them that they can contact me that way.

Constant calls about some person we have never heard of. Never leave a message and when instructed to hit 8 if you are not this person, you are disconnected. This has been going on for 7 yrs.

This 800 service is a pain. The people who call don't have give their name or anything. I'm on the no call list too. I certainly won't answer a phone call that doesn't give their name. Most of them simply have a machine that tells you to call another number. All of these numbers should be shut down.

They have been calling over the past several days to my cell, my wife's cell, and my work.  I spoke to a guy, John Marks who stated that he was a "legal assistant" to attorney Lisa Haster...I another time, when trying to obtain a mailing address for them, spoke to a Greg Barker who stated that he was a "legal assistant" to attorney John Marks!  I asked him if Marks was an attorney and he said "yes", after pausing for a couple of seconds...I asked him, and then several other people over several phone calls, for a mailing address, and each of them either hung up on me, or told me to "go look it up yourself" when I asked.  

These guys are breaking the law, regardless of what state they are in, every time they falsely misrepresent themselves as attorneys...They know that, I just doubt they really care.  By reading all of these postings, they've been doing this for years, and are still getting away with it.  Nice touch though on their part, by every now and then posting on here, as just regular people saying that they are legit and people  need to do what they say, lol.

I am going to mail them a cease and desist letter.  I found their website that has their address on it.  Luckily, I know my rights here in Texas, and they can't touch ANYTHING of mine without taking me to court HERE IN TEXAS, and I'd have to be served before any of that could happen.  Also, know your state's rights when it comes to collecting on "unsecured" debt.  I'll cross that bridge if I ever get to it and I have an attorney here so I'm not worried.  

I strongly suggest to anyone reading this, to NOT discuss anything regarding your debt over the phone.  If you're speaking to them over the phone, and admit to the debt verbally, you've just reset your statute of limitations clock again!  Just communicate with them via written mail and don't ever admit to the debt in those writings.  I know it's a pain, but know your rights and take a few extra minutes to exercise them.  Like most "shady" characters, and there isn't any doubt they're shady, if you make it difficult for them, they'll move onto another "target".

I received two phone calls (from 952-540-4794), one on my cell and then one on my boyfriend's business line. I did not answer my cell, but then answered his line. They said wrong number on his line. After an hour or so (and reading through this whole page) I decided to give them a call back. They were hired by a creditor that I owe money to. I explained my situation and the lack of my creditor working with me through unemployment. I also explained that I did not have any funds to start paying monthly. The guy that I spoke to understood where I was coming from. He did not make any demands. He updated my address (which was 5 years old). He also said they would only call my cell.

While I do not appreciate that my account was escalated to an attorney's office, I have nothing bad to say about the guy that I dealt with (maybe besides the fact that he never said his name?) I am not associated with this company in any way (they are located in MN, I am in CA). While some people may have had some issues with this company, that was not the case with me. I just don't like the situation behind why that had to phone me. Knowing that they are an attorney's office does make me a bit nervous, especially since they had the wrong address and may have sent information to that address. If this does escalate further and they get to freeze my accounts, that would suck, but they would have nothing to take, as well as no wages  to garnish as Unemployment runs out in 3 weeks.

As far as I'm concerned any collection agency that prctices the way they do is not a legit company. They don't follow federal laws or fair debt collection practices. Write them a letter stating you don't want anymore calls and to only correspond thru writting. By law they then they can only contact you one more time with a letter of intent which will state whether the intend on taking action or not, any more calls after that and you can sue them and retrieve damages from them. Be sure to research you states laws regarding fair debt collection practices so you know when your rights are being trampled

They are apparently a legitimate debt collection agency, but they are not a law office as they claim to be. Or at least, they're not calling AS a law office.

Called twice in five minutes. I do not believe this is legal. I believe they are limited to once per hour.

got a call from haster law office  tuesday she said i owed 900 dollars in debt, and then demands that i give my checking account number over the phone, and i tell her i cant give my info over the phone. she hangs up on me. that does not sound very business like to me
