Whether you pay for "unlisted" or not is irrelevant.The telemaketers do not have to
actually get your number from a listing...they can simply dial one number after another
with no idea who, if anybody, is at the other end. Eventually, when they hit your number
it is a simple matter of mechanical process.

You should certainly enroll [for FREE] on the federal [and state, if your state has one] Do Nojt Call
Lists.  Ethical telemarketers [not an oxymoron, there are actually ethical ones...from whom you may not
be getting calls], even if using a sequential dialing computer will check each number against the DNC list before placing the call..

So, maybe the caller is jewish or muslim and does not observe Sunday
as their sabbath.

In any event, the "survey, political and non-profit" loopholes in the DNC law are
big enough to drive an 18-wheeler [or a fleet of them] through.

@ Tunie, I am gonna take your idea and run with it if they call again. My husband is a disabled vet.Only recourse I have is to put them on my blacklist. They'll probably find another number to use and this cat and mouse game with telemarketers is getting old. I feel if we pay to have it unlisted then it should be as such. One more year with you, Time Warner and I will be disconnecting the home phone. Mr. Number takes care of them on my cell phone. Thanks Mr. Number.

I have entered 240 blocked telephone numbers. The problem is the Scammers are using a huge block of called IDs, so if you have blocked one, they will try another and another.
Unfortunately the Scammers believe, it is there Constitutional right to call you, and you bought your phone so they can scam you. DNC was started under Bush (2005) but was yet another scam, to make believe that Republicans was on the majorities side, but in reality there was a tons of loopholes (like this one, presumed to be charity) and they are exempt and it DNC was drastically underfunded and the fines extremely small if ever a Scammer was prosecute.  So before claiming Government does not work, look at the background.
BTW the Republicans want to get rid of government all together, and you, by your self, should fight the scammers or the Free-Market will take care of this. Good luck with that...

I get daily calls from them, but let the answering machine pick up.  They hang up and do not leave a message.  We are also on the "do not call list" for cell and land line.  I am pretty sure it's the group claiming to be collecting for disabled vets, as I did pick up in the past and was asked to donate.

They call me all evening and I am very disabled. One time I was naughty and asked THEM for money. Geeeeze I wonder why they hung up on me. LOL  They have claimed to be a Vets Org BUT also A Fire Fighter's Grp

If you have cable phone you can block any phone number from inbound calling. I have MY own personal do not call (me) list! It's marvelous. :-)

Just got a call from these people and didn't answer. Curious, I called the number back and got an answering machine/voicemail box. Left a message like an idiot. Am very low-income and thought that they were calling to HELP ME. Really glad I looked the number up and got to this website. I am on the "DNC List" and am wondering if I actually did everything I was supposed to so that people like this would NOT CALL. Am I missing something here?

Get calls at least 5 times a week. I'm not a veteran, and I don't know anyone who is. Want the calls to stop.

Did not pick up, but based on the other comments... these guys always call me. I kept telling them no and to take me off their calling lists. All calls are now screened by PhoneTray with my computer and modem. I check 800notes.com for the number and blacklist them. Next call is answered on the first ring and I donlt have to do anything anymore.

I AGREE!!! I got a call Sunday 8/5/12 but mine was @12:41pm & on CID was from 800 Service (1-800-670-4919). Also on DNC lists for landline & cell which may as well be PUBLIC lists "Please Call Me" lists, as that's where they get our #s. I'd make a bet on it! With all the LOOPHOLES even telemarketers as well as Politicians are exempt from the DNC lists. With NON-Profit orgs exempt from DNC lists, doesn't leave many who have to comply to rules as they now are in my opinion! I rarely answer my phs anymore. Only when I know the # is someone I want or need to talk to. My Talking Panasonic CID ph announces all my incoming calls, so I don't even go to CID to see who is calling. I can just IGNORE these calls & DELETE their # later. I am 80 yrs of age & certainly DO NOT need these PESKY calls. Get 4 a day sometimes (if I'm lucky & don't get more even), but only 1 (2 at most) days go by without getting a call of this sort. So much for paying for a Non-listed # also!

Sunday morning call?  We are on the do not call list. Why are we getting these calls?
