In the last month, I have received two calls from this number, two different people; one was a Penelope Miller, the other Henry Doyle. Both gave me different "quotes" on their listing fees for selling our timeshare: $1099 and $899 to $1299. Gave me the Rem2rent website to check out. Henry said that there have been in business 7 years and are listed with the BBB. The number/name on the caller ID were: Resort Equity M, 321-282-0600 but both gave me the 800-672-7034 call back, with extensions.

Got a call that showed 800-331-4717. The guy named Nick Orow asked if we wanted to sell or rent our timeshare. I asked how he got my number and gave me a very convoluted answer. I told him I will discuss and call him back. His return number was 888-921-8733. I didn't find anything on the number he called from but his return number brought me here. My number is registered with do not call list so I will file complaint. Thank god for the internet I was able to do a simple search and find all this info out.

Oh yes, may I add...I purchased my timeshare 2 years ago for $20,000. Rick was saying that my type of timeshare is selling at $26,000.  Crazy. People could just go to the place where I bought mine and get it for less.  I just don't understand....It's people like these that make the whole world so unworthy to trust.  Integrity is a huge issue nowadays. Just say no and move on.  It won't hurt to say no.  If it's such a great deal, it'll come by again.

I can't believe all of these postings. I have talked to "Rick Allen" about 3 times.  He sent me his website. I just wanted information in regards to selling my timeshare. I love my timeshare, but with so many things going on at this point, it sounded like a great idea to sell.  Now, I didn't receive any information like the other postings...I didn't receive any information AT ALL! Rick kept asking for my husband to be on the phone with me and with us working, we're not able to get on the phone with Rick during business hours.  After trying to get him to give me more information in regards to how this works, how he gets compensated, what do I have to do, can you e-mail me a contract, etc., his answer was just, "Call me back when you are more interested in selling".  I told him I WAS interested, otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.  He went off on a tangent about how he only wants to spend time with serious people...

After he walked me through their website....
http://www.rem2sell.com

He kept pointing out their marketing partners, sponsors, and people who have recommended them...I am on a time crunch (but TOTALLY have the time to alert the public!!!) so when he wasn't going to explain what this is all about and how it works, I told him that I am not interested in doing business with people like him. He yelled at me and hung up on me.  Shortly thereafter, his inventory supervisor called me to apologize.  He was very nice.  Even so, I did not want to do business with this company.  Rick then called me back himself to apologize.  I'm not sure if this is a scam or not, and I don't care.  I just know that if you're not professional, you will lose business.  I will find a way, and at least I know that I'm giving people business who deserve it.  Thanks for the information, everyone. Good luck!

Received a call from this 800# and figured there was something to it. After having read all these I'll definitely not be doing anything with this at all. A previous post talking about a "Micheal Brooks". We have dealt with him previously. Anyway, will not be doing any business with this group. No name of company given but same 800# as listed before.

Resort Equity Management

Gor a call from Stephanie Smith from REM. She claims to have worked for the company for 5 years. Gave me a great sales pitch. Can get upwards of $25,000 for the points I just bought for $8,000! WOW! I'm a capitalist, I will sell at that price! There is apparently a big sales show this weekend so they need my timeshare NOW! Okay, I have seen enough scams that this is a RED FLAG #1. But she is nice and it's a pleasant chat.

OK cool! She points me toward their "online BBB" rating and their ARDA membership. ARDA is "federally regulated" so she tells me that PROVES they must be legit! RED FLAG #2. Never tell me that an ONLINE BBB determines your legitimacy. Never tell me that because your industry is under federal regulation that you are legit. I have been on the internet since just after it's inception. Well now, time to dig a little deeper.

Then comes out the $1000 fee. I tell her I am a single mom with 2 kids. I cannot jeapardize them by paying out a grand for advertising up front. I would be more than willing to pay it out upon the rental like a normal real estset transaction. Her voice changes again, more tense, louder. They are "not a real estset company, that would be "ILLEGAL" for them to do that. So she tells me that "many of our customers put it on a credit card and make the minimum payments until they get their rental money in 30 to 90 days. If I just want to rent it out then I can get $4000 right away!

Oh my she cares so much about my two kids and I. Gosh!

Oh wait! Stephanie can go to her managers and see if they can drop the "ADVERTISING FEE." [[Wait, if you're doing $1000 in advertising on my part, why would you be able to take less money from me to pay for it? Hmmmm?]] Stephanie then asks: So if you cannot affort $1000, what CAN you afford? Oh me? Maybe $200. [[This is an advertising fee? Really?]] Well she "knows for afact they will not take less than $400. [[Interesting. Let's dig a little deeper.]] RED FLAG #3

Whooops I see some complaints (me sounding innocently surprised). I tell her that while on the phone. Her voice changes ever so slightly as she tells me that those are "mostly just complaints written by disgruntled former employees." [[I can hear the lie in your voice sister.]] RED FLAG #4. She'll check on that price and call back. [[I smile, and say sweetly: OKAY!]]

By now she is looking like a communist party luncheon! But I take her call. And she says they can even come lower than the $400 she quoted, they will take $350! So all of you who got scammed for more just need to learn how to negotiate better me thinks! I could get scammed for much less money up front than ya'll! So I tell her: There are some very serious complaints about you online AND you have a federal judgement against you in 2007. I really don't think I will be jeapardizing my kids for... hello? Hello? Oh I guess Stephanie has hung up. LMAO!

Thank you everyone who has posted your eperience! You are all the real heros in this world! Seriously, evil greedy jerks like these guys are the problem, your willlingness to trust others is beautiful and should never be used to hurt you, defraud you, or cause you suffering. You have my respect, admiration and gratitude.

Thanks to all, that has posted here. I find your info most useful.

I also own a timeshare and has received calls throughout the winter about people and what they can do. How much money I can make, selling the points for an up front fee. The up front fee varies from $ 6-1200 depending on the company. But in return I can make thousands of $$. Well I got one of them to send me a contract and there was nothing in it that obligated them to do anything. I did contact the BBB and they had numerous complaints. I also contacted our timeshare company (Wyndham). While they can't give advice, they did caution me about paying up front fees. So here is my take....

I will not send anyone anything, without a contract that clearly states the terms and commitments. I will check with the BBB and I will require references form other people that have done this. If they make it sound to good, it usually is. BE CAREFUL.

I got a call today stating they wanted 985 dollar up front fee to use my timeshares in fl and that I could expect 2500-3000 check from corporations that use my shares. When asked about getting a contract up front they balked at the idea and said that they could not send me a contract til after I sent them the money. Going to my timeshare holder and asking them what they heard about this company. Number they called me from was 321-282-0600.

Received a call yesterday, $1900 to get things started, I told her send me the paperwork, she never asked to verify my address. Bottomline she could hook me up with businesses that want to buy timeshare/Condo and I could get $19,000 or more after I pay her Co.to do transaction. Too good ~ It's a scam! Time share dont worth that much!

Resort Equity Marketing called me today.  Don Hudson (1-800-672-7034 ext. 335) did not state his company name until I asked for it, then he said, "Equity Marketing."  There is LOTS of info on the Internet about REM.  I've only found 2 posts that were positive versus probably close to 100 very negative posts or articles saying this company is nothing but a big scam.  Beware!  If it sounds too good to be true, guess what... it probably is!
