I got this in the mail, FHA Pre-Approval Notice. I was pre-approve for a FHA refinancing at no out of pocket cost -even if you are upside down on your home value, or if your credit has taken a hit...... I called and they didn't want to tell me the name of the company, she was repeting that she was telling me the name only after I was giving my customer id number. WHAT A SCAM!!!!! Nobody can do anything??????

Got the same mailer in Colorado. Very official looking piece of mail.
I called the 800#, but got an answering service. Interesting if the phone is ever answered by the company itself, or if you always have to leave your phone number for a call back. Sounds like a phishing scam to me.
While I don't know if the company broke any laws for the USPS, I did fill out this form: https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx to give a heads up.
As a side note, I received this because I have $37,000 in consumer debt. If you're looking into this company, chances are your debt load is pretty high as well. I recommend that you take steps to take care of your debt load, as I am!
Good luck!

Actually, I (like most of you) received my scam in the mail.
This is actually good.
Below is a link to file a complaint with the US Postal Service involving mail fraud.
With fewer people using the postal service, they are definitely looking to keep customers happy.
The form is easy... two minutes to fill out
You CAN help.

I got this in NY. Thanks for your posts regarding this number, helped me to do more sleuthing. Most likely a scam.
At http://www.bills.com/government-debt-relief/ read the part titled, "Government Debt Relief and Grants".
The bottom line from the article is this: "There are a lot of advertisements and articles claiming that an abundance of federal grants exist that will provide you with debt relief. ... Beware of companies advertising such grants: these are sometimes scams that actually end up leading to bankruptcy."

Received the same mailer in GA. Agree that it looks like an old census or tax form. Yes, it's a scam and I'm sending it to the Clark Howard show to have them add it to their list of scams.

OK I got one today in the mail.
Looks like the old Census form with the big 2010 letters on it.
Can't do a reverse 800 lookup on it.
I do believe it has to be a fraudulent phishing mailer.
Who do we report this too.... perhaps the BBB on the web.

No call
Also received this mailer in NJ
Neither the internet address or the phone number lead to any company.
The DNS was purchased form nametraders.com and the hosting from ioconnect.net - also known as isaacgoldstein.com - in Hong Kong.
So yeah IMHO a total scam.

Got one too. Case # L327 35113084 in the second paragraph. The fine print says "...This product or service has not been approved or endorsed by any government agency and this offer is not being made by an agency of the government. .... Existing consumer debt and settlement amounts are estimated and may vary based on individual situations.

Just got the mailer. Very official looking. Didn't call.
Kris 2010-08-05 13:35:28 Debt Collector
got the same mailer yesterday. Made it look like an official county (for me anyway, as they got a bunch of the county info one it) form. As I read it it looked more and more suspicious. Didn't waste my minutes calling the number, just ripped the form into tiny pieces and threw in the trash.
Nancy 2010-08-01 17:33:05 Unknown
Recieved the same mailer. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeppers ... these "no name", "no return address" A$$WIPES are just trying to dupe credit heavy consumers out of some money.
It would be nice to locate them and inflict a major A** whipping on the scum.
Chris 2010-07-24 03:13:33 Unknown
Same junk mail as Mike (also state of WA). Very suspicious-looking.
Mike 2010-07-23 21:02:06 Unknown
Got one for state of Washington. A fake official gov form. Stay away!
Kevin 2010-07-18 07:04:58 Unknown
Didn't call, don't care to.
Looks like a government mailing but it obviously isn't if you just read the letter.
Fraud for sure...
Dolly 2010-07-16 03:53:43 Unknown
I received the mailing, very "official" looking. I called the 800 #, the operator could not even tell me
who she worked for " I just answer the phone" STAY AWAY ...must be FRAUD
Doug 2010-07-08 13:14:35 Unknown
Got the same thing in the mail as Jewel stated in her above message. The only difference is the case number is KS 2010 which is a made up # referring to the State of Kansas and the Year of 2010. I think total fraud and something to stay away from.
Ken 2010-06-17 04:02:31 Unknown
I agree,no return address and could not look up 800 number its probably a scam.
Jewel 2010-06-02 20:36:15 Unknown
Received a mailer no call. It looks official but has no name or address. Just offers to reduce debt by over half what is owed. They give a case number to refer to. (Kentucky) I believe it could be fraud when you can't research the company. If it was for real they would give out their information.
Mike 2010-05-27 18:29:03 Unknown
No call, number was on an "official" looking mailer for a "balance settlement program." There is no return address or business name on it at all, but it does have a permit number of #5641, St. Louis.
