Was offered an extension because of a natural disaster.  Received 5 calls in 3 hours about my "late payment."  I am being harrassed for accepting an offer made by THEM.  They need to get their act together.  I am currently looking to refinance... this is ridiculous.

I've had a loan from citizens since 2008 and I've only ever recieved TWO statements. They claim that sending a monthly paper statement is a courtesy on their part. I told them that I am the customer buying a product from them at a rated interest, and that it is their obligation to send a monthly statement. I've called every monthe since last june (2010).......still don't get statements.
This company needs to burn.

I also receive calls for payments that have been sent well in advance.  The claim is that they have not received the payment.  My payment has been posted to the incorrect account, and it takes forever to get it straightened out.  I have only 9 months left on this loan.  Beleive me I don't want to ever do business with this company again.  A TRUE NIGHT MARE!!!!

Just found this site as I am searching for citizen automobile finance website. Thought I'd add my experience with them. Got a call on 2/8 asking if we made our payment. My husband took the call and I overheard him. I heard him telling woman that payment was made on 2/8. We pay all bills through Quicken and it takes 4 business days for payee to get electronic payment. Told woman this and she told him that our bank sends paper checks. I finally asked him to let me talk to person. I asked why they are calling and this woman told me I was getting called because my payment was delinquent. This really ticked me off since there is a 10 grace period and she told the hubby it was up on 2/14. She was rude. Told her we aren't delinquent and that she was harrassing. She wanted to know again about payment. Told her Citizens received payment 2/8 (day of call). She had nerve to ask me if they cashed check. Idiot, it is an electronic payment and you've got it. Apparently, they don't check before calling. She tried to tell me I was being difficult and she was going to end the call but first she informed me that they would call back but it would be an automated call. I told her if she or anything called back it would be harrassment as they have the payment. Needless to say when I checked my bank the payment was credited on 2/8. They haven't called back yet. Made us so angry that we will pay them off now and be done with them. This is our 2nd loan with them and we've always paid early. To be turned over to their collect while in grace period is crazy. By the way have you noticed that their statements do not show when your payment is considered late nor what constitutes the grace period.

called today and were very rude insisting that my payment was late. I informed them that it was sent by mail and should have been there over a week ago. they in fact told me that it was not so I waited and checked the bank and it had been taken out of the bank today.  So I called them back and asked why it was late when it was taken out of the bank today.  The man told me he found where they had credited it on 12/22 it is not due till 12/24 and today is 12/30. These ridiculous people have been calling for days leaving no messages and hanging up on people. This is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

As someone who lives in a state (Missouri) where no one is familiar with this company, I would recommend that NO ONE use this company!  I stumbled across this company while buying my first car.  They gave me a great percentage rate at the time: 5.54%!  I have had nothing but problems with these folks ever since.  They claim to mail my bill out on the 16th of every month though I never receive it until the 23rd.  If I write the check out and send it back on the 23rd, it doesn't get debited from my account until the day it's due (the 6th of the next month).  I call to find out why it takes them so long, so they blame it on the Federal Reserve or some ridiculous nonsense like that.  I live in Missouri...not Iraq!  

I went on vacation this last month.  It hadn't arrived before I left.  When I got back, I KNEW it would be late if I sent it via mail.  I tried to make a payment over the phone.  This place wanted to charge me $12.50 to do all the work myself over the phone!  So, I tried the internet.  Oh, that'll be $12.50 as well!  If you want an actual person to process your payment by phone (y'know, someone that can steal your credit card information and take you to the cleaners), it'll cost you $20.00!!!!  I called to speak to a manager to see if the fee would be waived based on the circumstance.  After acknowleding that my payments had all been made early or on time while I had been with them, the manager refused to waive the fee for payment.  At this point, I was mad enough to switch my lender.

I called to have a payoff faxed to me.  If you need a faxed payoff (as most other banks require that), it will cost you $25.00!  This whole nickel and diming your customers to death is just ridiculous!  I have never dealt with anything this ridiculous in my entire life!  During a time where banks aren't doing so well, you think they'd want to hang onto every customer as long as they possibly could, not piss them off so they switch lenders.  I hope my $18,213.44 was worth the hassle I got over a $12.50 fee for paying over the phone or via internet (which saves them TIME and MONEY).

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!  THE FEES ARE RIDICULOUS!!!  I will tell everyone I know and every website I can of my horrific experience with these people!

i get a call saying my july payment is 11 days past due. i have it on record from my bank that they made the payment on july 15,and the amount and the bank conformation number,i printed two copies of the statement.I called my bank and the person i talked to even confirmed what i was reading to him, from the confirm number, to the check no.the person told me it could have fallen behind some ones desk,i believe what happened is if citizens did get the check, they should find out who signed it to get it cashed to see if they credited it my account or stuck it in their pocket

They call every 2 days despite the insurance has paid, the extended warranty cancellation has paid and all that is left is for the GAP insurance to cut them a check. The extended warranty coverage cancellation was $3800 and we only owed $6000 total after our personal insurance paid out on a $100,000 vehicle. We keep telling them it takes a little time to get the paperwork processed to get them a check cut and they still keep calling and threatening repossession when the truck was stolen, stripped and burned. I told them good luck with that. I have waited since the 15th for a total payoff amount. They said they faxed it but I didn't get the fax and they still charged me $25 for it. I called back twice and finally got a total payoff paper request on the 22, it was printed on the 26th, mailed on the 28th and I finally got it on June 1. They say I'm 81 days behind, but yet they received 2 checks which would put me WAY ahead on the payments, but that 'didn't count' because it came from insurance. They charged me $25 late fee when my contract states late fee would not be over $16.50. I have faxed them permission to speak to my husband at any time regarding the account, but they have not updated their records and won't speak to him, yet they call his cell phone repeatedly. He tried to tell them today that GAP was sending a check and they would have it paid in full by Monday, but they told him he wasn't on the account so they couldn't speak to him. 'It was illegal.' I called them back when I got in from work and told them it was NOT illegal to receive information. And he was trying to GIVE them the information. Have your paperwork in order, be ready to stand your ground, and don't take their crap.

They call constantly. Harrass me at work, at home, past due bills. I am already paid-up and more than enough. These are barricudas. They loose payments temporarily to make it look late, even though it is not late. They lie all the time. I turned them in to the Better Business Bureaus of Boston. I don't think they should be in business any more. They government should shut them down and place every employee in jail for many reasons.

Caller Id shows "toll free call" with the number 800-708-6682. I don't know why they would be calling me. My vehicle I drive is thru my work and the only other vehicle I have is a Harley Davidson! They don't leave messages and call constantly! I was told they were part of Charter One Bank, so I did some research and called Charter One to have my name removed from the list....last April! Very annoying!

Claimed to be calling from Charter One. Left message saying they needed to speak with me urgently. I called, recording said "thank you for calling the consumer counseling dept", then another recording said "thank you for returning our call, we'll be with you shortly". When I got a live person she asked for my account #, i said i didn't know it (!) then she asked for my SSN. That's when the alarm went off and I hung up w/out giving her that info.
