Ron - I have received several calls from 800-709-8325 (1/2/11 & 1/4/11) which showed on my caller ID as unavailable; however, after some research I found a page on a really NASTY collections company called NCO FINANCIAL SYSTEMS which buys good bebt, bad debt, and any debt for pennies on the dollar and has been sued for 1.5 million for violations of the Fair Collections Act and is continuing to rack up complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Pennsylvania Attorney General where the company is based. The page lists quite a few numbers used by this company including a number that begins with (800) 709; therefore, it is most likley this outfit calling. They break the Fair Collections Act and each state's Fair Collections laws left & right!! Do Not Answer These Calls!! Go to http://www.callferret.com/nco-financial-systems.html and read the comments, also google NCO Financial Systems and you'll find many more disturbing facts about this company. Send a CERTIFIED CEASE COMMUNICATION LETTER if the calls continue and file complaints with the FTC & PA Attorney General & the Attorney General of your state which will back them off and put you in a position to SUE THEM!!

Tried it, seemed to work.  Guess I'll find out in the next few days.

The number is assigned to the American Cancer Society for fundraising purposes.  You can call at any hour, listen to the menu, and hit the appropriate options to have your phone number removed from their calling lists.  You will have to reenter your phone number and confirm that you wish to have it removed.  The ACS has 30 days from the date that you enter your request to remove your number from their list.

Thanks for the tip.  I called the number back 18007098325 and then pressed the number 1 and then the number 3.  I was asked by an automated system to key in the number that I do not want receiving phone calls.  I did it.  Then the automated system said that they have by law 30 days to remove me from their list but that every effort to remove my from the call list over the next couple of days would be done.

I suggest everyone else with this problem do this.

They called at 12:40 p.m. PST on 5/10/11.  Usually, I avoid picking up toll-free calls, but picked up this time and they hung up.  If it is indeed the American Cancer Society (who I donated to a few years ago when a friend died), this (the relentless calls/solicitations - ACS has talked to me before and sent me a packet to solicit my friends) is very disappointing.

I am apt never to donate again to the American Cancer Society or any other non-profit organization unless via anonymously with a money order.

It is the Amercian Cancer Society. They call on average about 3 times daily. If you call the phone number back, you can have your number removed from the list. Just follow the automated message for the instructions.

Rang only once.  Scared them off without answering the phone.  Cool.

I called the number back and was presented with a voice mail menu that gave me the option to enter a number to be removed from the list. Voice mail says will make every effort to remove within a couple of days although federal law is within 30 days.

This number calls me but does not answer when I pick up.

One comment said it was a collection agency-all others said American Cancer Society-My caller ID said toll free number.

WHEN I ANSWERED, THEY INDICATED IT WAS A COLLECT CALL FROM JAIL. RIDICULOUS

Someone from this number often calls my household, lets it ring three times, and hangs up. Today, Super Bowl Sunday, they did it again. I don't normally answer any calls from numbers I do not recognize. They are getting to be a pain, and I hope they cease and desist. Is it a collection agency (which I have no reason to receive these calls), or the American Cancer Society? If it's the latter, I will never donate money to the organization again.

Removing your number from their list (by calling the number back and select #1 then #3) is the best solution...but you can also try this....if you subscribe to a digital phone provider such as Comcast, go online to your provider's website and configure your "phone calling preferrences" to selectively call-foward all calls from American Cancer Society 800-709-8325 back to themselves at 800-227-2345 which is their main number. Then they can pester themselves.

Wanted to know who owns this number.

Just got a call from this number.  Caller ID "not provided"  Probably a collection agency looking for my son.  This people are relentless.  They don't leave a message.  I am tired of all these calls.  I don't answer any number that I don't recognize.

8007098325 called, I didn't answer since I was in church at the time,  Then I read these comments.  Don't know why they would call me, but I'll try to put a block on this number - maybe a good suggestion for those who have the option.

They keep calling, but no one is there. After a few moments of me saying "Hello?" I get a busy signal.
I work nights & "try" to sleep during the day. This is maddening!

I am getting calls incessantly, and do not pick up.  Of course, there's no voice message, so it's a sneak attack.  The claim is the American Cancer Society.  (There's always the possibility that it's a spoof.)  l went through the process of being removed.  For me it's a test case to see whether it will work.  After a point, calls, regardless of the cause, are harrassing.  AMS's business practice can only lead to a Do Not Call List for charities.  How short-sighted.  I woulldn't trust them with a donation.

They Obviously don't take NO for an answer. They just keep calling and calling and calling.

I never answer calls that I don't recognize, either.  I figure if they need to talk to me, they'll leave me a message...usually they never do so the heck with 'em.  If they keep calling and calling...I just pick up and quickly hang up the phone...just to get it to stop ringing.
