Got a few calls from them before I decided to call back and was told I owed money to them but had no card with them transfered to fraud dept and answered a few questions afound a card was opened in my name I was skeptical at first until they told me information about the person who opened the account and I immediately knew it was this person for a fact from the info they gave me and what I knew of that person

Called today, no message.  They called yesterday - 1/1/14 - around 7:45 at night.  I guess New Year's Day is no longer considered a Holiday.

During the last 2 weeks we have been getting this call 3 to 5 times a day.  Shows as "Unavailable" on Caller ID.  We have regular landline with Caller ID and answering machine takes these calls.  They don't leave a message.
We have had Discover Card since they came out.  I asked my wife if she had ever answered one of these calls.  She said she did once. A lady asked for my boy and wife said he doesn't live here.  Then lady asked if my wife was his spouse. ( He's not married) Mrs. said "No, I'm his mother and what does this pertain to?"  The lady said "business" and hung up.  Unbelievable.  My boy (24) lives elsewhere and just recently got a Discover Card.  He's a little shaky and probably was late but hit the bank today and paid in full.  I wonder if the foolish calls will stop.   In the past we have had calls from them to sell extra nonsense we don't need and is the reason I found this great site.
 When my answering machine wears out I will buy another.  Thank goodness for a great bundle from the phone company that included Caller ID (we're very thrifty) as it's saved us so much time and is very amusing.  Thanks to my neato remote phone I can say that today they called @ 8:43AM, 10:50AM, and 7:38 PM.  

I do not believe this is Discover calling to collect late payments, as my balance is paid and my next payment is not yet due....yet this number calls 3 times a day! My guess is that it is some other company wanting to negotiate debt settlement. Just pay your Discover bills on time and ignore this number when they call!!!

Got a call from this unknown number and didn't leave a message. Minutes after the same number called my husbands cell. He answered it and claimed they were from Discover Card looking to get ahold of my parents. How weird!!! i told him to hang up its a scam! anyways he asked to speak to the mans supervisor, but I'm it was no supervisor. As my husband was still on the line with the person, i called the same number back and I got a discovered card recording. Not sure what's going on, but very strange.

I am 89 yrs. old and have always paid my bills on time.  For the past couple of weeks Discover has been calling me up to 10 times a day, from 8 am to 9 pm saying I am late in my payment.  When I tell them they are wrong and they check they find out I am right.  You would think that they would then stop calling but no.  The next day the calls start again.  I have one payment left on my card and then I am going to cut it up in little pieces and send it to them.  They are a horrible company and should be investigated for their gestapo tactics.  If you own a Discover Card please pay it off and then get rid of it.  If everyone did that they might wise up, otherwise they will continue annoying people with their incessant phone calls.

It is Discover calling.  They will continue to hound you until they can talk to the person whose card it is even if the payment is one day overdue.  They sent my mother a bill saying the next payment was in two weeks and from then on they call 3 or 4 times a day.  Discover is a the worst credit card going.  If you can try to avoid obtaining or using their card.  They will ruin your credit scores if they can.  I paid off my mother's balance and destroyed her card.  The end.

I called the # back and a person quickly asked for my card number, when I wouldn't give it they asked for social security #, then wanted my name, then DOB, then just tried to get phone number. It was an obvious scam, trying to catch off guard, fishing for pii, the number 800-767-1143 is not associated with discover in any way

I keep getting calls from them on my cell, I have never answered it since it's a number I do not recognize, if they are Discover then something is whack because I have no Discover card. Unless hey are calling about a student loan... but since they don't leave a message I can't tell.

Just now discovered that it is in fact Discover using this number, did this by calling the number and have had them put my phone on a DNC register, so should now be free of these very annoying and unproductive impositions on my daily life!

This number calls me several times each day, leaves no message and if I answer asks me to wait for an important announcement, does not say to whom it is important , I want it to STOP now!

Just called, left no message.  Today is a Federal Holiday - Memorial Day.  Way to honor those who gave their lives for our freedom, call and ask people for money.

After dozens of calls 1 st to the cell then to our house phone I answered and it was a very persistent con artist asking for my wife.She had urgent financial business from Discover and it is important that they speak with her,gave me a callback number of 1-888-200-8158.I insisted they take our numbers off their call list and any financial business they conduct in writing.She said that they will not do that.......Now I am very determined to strike back,war has started and i will prevail.

I get the same message that it is from Discover Card - funny thing is I have never had a Discover card in my life. Obviously a scam.

And yet other posters are saying they've called Discover and they told them it's not them calling!

It is Discover Card plain and simple.  You either owe them money or they have the wrong number.  There is nothing suspicious about it.  It's a debt collector trying to collect the money they are owed.

I received several calls from 800-767-1143.  I never picked up, but a person named Britney left several voicemails saying she is calling from Discover Financial Services and wanted to let me know of several programs to save money and that I should return her call TODAY at 800-347-0097 to find out more about these programs that will save me money.  She always mentioned that I should return her call TODAY, but yet kept calling me every single day so it was clearly suspicious.  I called Discover directly to find more details on this fraudulent calls and find out that the number she was calling was from Southwest Mutual Insurance Company.  It's clear that some bi*** trying to ruin and annoy people.  DONOT pick up calls from this number.

Person wanted to collect discovery late fees however my bills was not due for another 5 days.

They called today, missed a payment so they were seeing if I wanted to pay by phone.

Thanks for the heads up.  I hope Discover can shut them down!

I've received at least 3 calls a day from this number.  
For several weeks.
They even call on Sunday morning.
They do not leave a message.  
They are on my "blocked caller" list, so at least
it only rings once now, but shouldn't have to
hear it at all!

This is telephone harassment.

sooo they claim they are Discover and to call them immediatly to settle my past due balance. I called Discover only to find out they have no idea what i am talking about my balance owed is Zero and I am not in any kind of default. I gave them this info, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!!

Has called 12 times sence Wednesday all during the day ALL when I (working 3rd shift!) should be sleeping! NEVER leaves a message!

According to them my mom put my cell as a home number which I DOUBT is true I didn't ask who they were I'm too damn pissed over the tons of calls when I should be sleeping! So they asked for a work number for her I refused they asked when a good time to call would be I refused and after they knew that this AIN'T her number and I'm SICK of the calls and to leave me alone I hung up on them --we will see if I get any more

Previous to my answering this one I only had the number NO message and when I answered I had to WAIT to talk to someone when THEY called me! How that works ill never know
