In this day of daily scam e-mails and things like that, nothing on the postcard leads you to think it is legitimate. And the lack of web URL or clear company name doesn't help.

From searching the web for about a half hour I found that they are "legitimate" since some schools and associations use them to build an up-do-date alumni database. There is no cost to the school, so that is a good thing for the school, but they make their money selling the directories.

Some think the directories are high priced, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. It costs money to have humans answer the phones and take time to gather your information. I declined to purchase a directory (hardcover $80, softcover $60) and they didn't pressure me at all. For my school they said the directory covers many years of graduates, so if you want people who buy it to have some valid information about you, then give them a call. For me, they had most of my info anyway, and I didn't give them anything beyond that.

Non-profit Organization
Received a postcard asking me to call this 1800 number and give them all my personal information for a directory made of high school graduates. The address on the card is PO Box 3140, Chesapeake, VA. If you Google the address, you'll find a lot of people reporting the same concerns I have.
