Same as above for us.  I had the same problem with 3 companies.

They called and talked to one of our hourly employees in a retail environment, during busy retail hours.  They talked fast and asked groups of questions together in each sentence like this:

"Are you at least 18 years old, are you an employee of this company, is XXXX the company name?  This is in regards to your phone bill, you can cancel at any time, do approve of the service, is your number xxx-xxx-xxxx?"

When the employee said "yes" (answering that it was the correct phone number), they began billing us $50 per month as a 3rd party through AT&T.

Unbelievably horrible and dishonest people.

Called our non-profit organization saying they were sending us a $300 rebate for our utilities.  We get donations all the time and I am used to confirming our address and phone number.  I was transferred to another guy and started speaking really fast.  I asked him to repeat certain pieces of information and he said we would receive it in the mail and not to worry about it.  I asked if we were being charged anything and he said "No, you can cancel at any time." They never mentioned a $49 charge but I was suspicious due to the round-about answers.  We called immediately after I hung up the phone to cancel and were unable to.  It took me 8 Google searches to find this page and I wish I had looked sooner.

I've gotten the call twice.  They had all of the information regarding the office correct.  I ask if they needed to speak to the manager, they said no.  Of course they had my first name because I said it when I aswered the phone.  In the middle of the guy's fast talking I heard something about a dollar amount and to call and cancel.  When I told him I could not understand a word he was saying and he hung up on me.  But it was regarding $300.00 worth of rebates towards our utility bills

Discovered their billing on my Phone bill and asked who they were and what they were providing for me. The conversation was quick and they have been billing since March.  I said I remembered hanging up on them and they said a name (it was my receptionist) who ordered it.  Not so.  They lie at every move.

I asked them to repeat the questions .... they are trying to sign me up for some service that places charges on my telephone account .... YEAH RIGHT!! they thought i'd fall for it.

I answered the phone in our small office and "Eric" proceeded to say that he needed to verify our address so that they could send us rebates on our utility bills, etc. and that the $49.95 monthly charge would appear on our phone bill.  I immediately knew that this was a scam, since we have had two clients this week with the same type of problem, but different rip-off companies.  One had charges on their bank account and the other on their phone bill.  Anyway, I asked for a website and a return phone number, and "Eric" didn't know, and didn't have a specific phone number, but maybe their verification dept would have that information, if I could just speak to them to verify our address.  I said that I wasn't authorized to verify that.  He asked if there was someone here who was, and I said no.  We don't have caller ID here, but I did ask "Eric" several times to slowly give me his company's name.

I also received a call from these people.  They speak too fast on purpose, in hopes we don't realize they are charging $49.95 to our phone account.  As the "verification" dept. person read his script to me, I was able to catch key words such as "You can cancel anytime by calling 1-800-773-9904", and, "$49.95 will be automatically charged to your monthly phone bill".  I told the man to totally remove our information from their system; that I wanted nothing to do with them!  He said he was sorry they couldn't provide a service for us today, and ended the call.

VERY UNETHICAL!  They should be run out of business!

I also received a similar call today, June 4, 2009. Very rude female and male tried to scam me. First female refused to take my no and challenged me as to why I would NOT want rebates for utilities. Said there was no fee for the info they would mail me. Needed to transfer me to address verification. Male got on the line. Then he told me to listen to a taped 20 second message and he would be back on the line. The message stated a charge would be billed to my phone company and be on my bill. Message stated 800 # and PO box (stated in Roxanne Stern's post from April 24, 2009.)He got back on the line. I told him I wanted no part of their company and this was not presented truthfully. He refused to give me his name but gave me his employee ID number. I repeatedly told him I refused the service. He accused "me" of being angry and calling him a liar but did say he would remove me from this service and their call list. I then called my phone company and put a third party billing block -- for free -- on my account. I also have filed a complaint with the FTC at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Its a scam.  They do a third party billing to your phone service provider.
To end this type of thing, just call your local phone company and request a Third Party Billing Block.  It's FREE and it will keep scum like this from costing you money.   ASLO - report these b*****ds.  The law can't do anything if YOU don't complain.

Just looked at the phone bill for the business I work for and saw the charge.  Spent 1/2 hour trying to get it taken care of.  The agent at that number said the charge was for a legal firm that would supply legal advice and web hosting and fax service. . . . I don't remember what all they said they would do. I asked them who approved the service and they told me (ended up being my boss!)  I hopefully have the service canceled, but have not gotten the March charge removed.  Someone is to call me regarding that charge. I will be hot on their heels until it is removed. I asked my boss about it and he said he remembers the call and he told them flat out NO! NOT INTERESTED!

I got the call, I think, shortly after New Year's Day.  I did not know what this was about.  I told them there is no business at this address.  On my next Verizon phone bill there was a charge which was attributed to two companies: "ILD Teleservices, Inc." and "Small Business Tech."  The "ILD" number was printed on my bill.  First I called Verizon, and they advised me to call ILD.  I did so, and they gave me the number for "Small Business Tech."  I called that number (another 800 number) and spoke to someone named "Cindy," and she finally agreed to credit me for the charge.  She informed me that I would have to go through a complicated process of writing them a letter through the postal mail, and gave me the address, which I did--on February 16th.  Here it is April and I have just written a second letter.  I can't find a Website for what "Cindy" told me was "Small Business Technical Solutions."  In any case, I am refusing to pay the charge attributed to them.

I called my business telephone compnay for a change in my service and was told by the tel company that I had a $53.45 ($49.95+Tax) charge on my phone that was new.  He asked me if I had authorized it..I didn't.  These people are scam artists and it is fraud!! They called my office, talked to the front desk receptionist and asked her to verify our address.  Quick to get them off the line, she didn't hear the bal of the conversation that said "may cancel anytime"!!  To my knowledge, this isn't even a real usable business to us..I have never gotten any paperwork from them nor did they verify with me, the manager, that my employee was able to charge on my phone bill!!! BEWARE!! LOOK AT YOUR PHONE BILL EACH AND EVERY MONTH!! They will only give you credit for one month, so if you don't review your bill for six months (which is how they make $), you have just lost in excess of 300!!

I just got a call from those same guys!  Said they were sending out to me a rebates package to be used toward phone, electric, natural gas, etc.  Needed to verify mailing address.  As the man started rambling out their toll free #, I started jotting the number, and stopped him for verification of that toll free number.  He quickly responded that the toll free number would be in the rebate package, but gave it to me again.  Then he rambled on without taking a breath, and then I heard those words "YOU CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME".  That's when I tried to say something, then I heard a click-up.  So I called that 1.800.773.9904 number, and a sweet talker answered the phone, and wanted to hear what my complaint was.  I just flat out told him, whatever that BUSINESS ADVISOR CUSTOMER SERVICE is selling, I DON'T WANT IT!!!  He said he would take care of it.  I'll be calling back that number again and again to make sure it has been taken care of.  So, BE AWARE of who's out there.

Yeah...I just got the same call. They just want to verify your address but if you  listen to his ramble at the end there are charges that will be applied to your phone bill. They try to take advantage of people in a hurry and not paying attention to the call. Scam artists.

They said that they were sending out some energy rebate and they needed to verify our mailing address. Then after they "verified" the address they started talking about all of these services they provide with the no risk charge to our phone bill. They spoke very very fast probably to try to swindle as many people as possible. The whole thing is a scam. Just tell these people that you aren't interested and hang up.
