DON'T give them an account number! The number is asking for you to enter your account number, which is obviously something you should not do. I am in the banking profession. This IS a Scam. Bank of the Cascades said their phones are blowing up with people calling about it.

Got the text message too, called the number and found out it was Bank of America trying to scam more money. (Bend OR)

Sam 2010-03-17 04:41:55 Unknown
Oh great now my cell phone is froze up in the middle of a call. Now I'm going to have another $500 phone bill! Those damn scammers!! I NEVER HAD A BOTC CARD!....
Jim 2010-03-17 04:00:13 Unknown
Make them leave me alone! Get them off of me! Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! Ahhh!!

I live in Redmond OR, I got two texts in the last three days. I'm also with Verizon....Yes this is another cellular phone eavesdropping virus. I'm calling the phone company in the morning to have them install the virus removal tool via the internet. I will use a different phone so they don't record my conversation.

I got a text today at 3:03 PM saying to call the same 800 number back again, I have verizon as well, somehow the text showed it was from my own number? I don't know how they did that, anyway I didn't even call it back.

Mine came in today (on Verizon) at 3:35 PDT - I called the 800 number and got a recording it was not in order. Going to report it to Fed do not call. Glad I'm not the only one that got this thing!

I gave them all my credit card numbers. Can't afford to be without a charge card. They seem really honest. Going to meet them after I cash out my 401K. They have investments also that gain 400 percent last year. The person assured me the investments were endorsed by the credit card and mortgage bail out system.
This is too good to be true. Everything is free in America. Yahoo!
Phone Number now out of service.

Slugbug 2010-03-15 23:23:28 Unknown
I also recieved it and called to find out what the heck it was all about. I did not know what BOTC was. When I call the number some lady recording said it was the Bank of the Cascades which I have never had an account with. It asks for your card number and pin number, when I tried to click a zero option, there is none and it repeats for your card number and pin number over and over, I entered in some fake numbers and pressed pound, then entered in a fake pin and pressed pound and the call disconnected. Pretty much after they assumed they received the information, they disconnected the call. SCAM written all over it.
Vince 2010-03-15 23:20:22 Unknown
Yes I just recieved the same text message to my cell phone. that my non-existent card with a bank I have never ever done business with in bend has been deactivated. A card number that I have never seen before. This is a SCAM. And I have the right mind to call the corporate headquarters to give them a piece of my mind. I also googled the number and I can see I am not alone here. Goddamn moth******ers.
Aces 2010-03-15 23:18:20 Unknown

Jessica 2010-03-15 23:17:32 Unknown

Jeremy 2010-03-15 23:13:50 Unknown

Tony 2010-03-15 22:53:34 Unknown
I got the same thing. It says it is from the Bank of the Cascades for me. I am on hold with them at the moment and have no accounts with them.
Brian 2010-03-15 22:51:12 Unknown
Dang, a card I don't have has been deactivated. Oh my, what to do? I just don't know. Should I call it or should I ignore it. Gee.. somebody help me decide!!
matt 2010-03-15 22:50:24 Unknown

Deanna 2010-03-15 22:46:37 Unknown

Michael 2010-03-15 22:37:47 Unknown
I recieved this text message "YOUR CARD starting with XXXXX* has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact 800-780-1851 to REACTIVATE your CARD" Since I don't have any such number it's pretty obviously a scam.
