They just called me at 8 AM on a Sunday.  I answered.  It said "This call may be recorded for quality assurance purposes"  Then the music played - I waited for five minutes and no one came on.  I hung up and called back.
I've talked to these people before, so I know it's not a scam - they just don't operate very well.  When I called back I put in my information and then it said "No representatives are available at this time.  Please try calling again between the hours of 8AM and 8:30PM EST."   And then it hung up on me.

Now I'm a little weirded out.  Why did I get called at 8AM on a Sunday if no representatives are available?

I'm getting calls from this number that just started last week but this thread seems to go back to 2011. Some say it's a scam, some do not.  ACS IS is valid educational loan service company and I do have a loan with them but I do not recommend calling this number back. Numerous posters have commented that they verified with ACS directly that this is not a legit call and not a number they will confirm as theirs, so I suspect the people saying this is a legit number are shills for the scammer.

If you are at all concerned, call the lender directly and do not call back this 785-5309 number, and of course never give out your SSN to anyone over the phone!

Thank you for the direct line to ACS! I called 800.835.4611 and spoke to them and they said that my account was just fine and the number calling was not one of theirs. Indeed it does sound like a phishing scam to me.

Wrong. I just called ACS and they claim that this number does not belong to them and that my student loan account is just fine. They said I should report that number and NOT give them any information at all.

The phone number 800-784-5309 calls you and when you answer you get a recorded message (illegal robocall) informing you the call may be recorded for quality.  Then music plays.  If you call them back, you get another recorded message stating you have called Education Services.  They ask you to log in with your loan number or SSN.  Highly recommend NOT DOING this.  They appear to be phishing for personal information which can lead to nothing but trouble for you.  If you have a student loan, USE THE INFORMATION provided from your loan place for communications.  Everyone who receives these calls should report them, it is fast and easy and free.  www.donotcall.gov.  Select report.  Understand, even if your number is not registered, you can still report them!!!!

I just call also. I don't care who it is...you don't have a recorded message askfor your ss#, period
If they want to reach me for legit, they better come up with a better way.
btw, of all my dealings regarding student loans over the past 30 years, I've NEVER got a recorded message (its always been a person) & NEVER ask for social security number!
Bottom line no matter who calls?
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.

The call to me came from 800-784-5655 bit when I looked it up it brought me to these posts which leads me to believe that enough people have figured out who they are and they were blocked so they started using a different number. They did not leave a message.

I received this call yesterday afternoon. It was a live person I talked to but his accent was so thick I could only make out a couple of words. I kept telling him that I could not understand what he was talking about. After several times of me telling him I could not understand, it sounded like he said, "are you f****ng lying to me?" I said, "excuse me." He said again, "are you f****ng lying to me?"" I promptly just hung up on him.

I have no student loans, and yet this number just started calling us this week - every day, first thing in the morning.  We have had this number for 10 years, so there is no reason they should have started contacting us

I am contacting your service to report that I am receiving inappropriate calls which are directed to: Megan Wright in Jacksonville, FL. I keep receiving these annoying calls requesting that "Megan" call about services.  I wish to have my home phone number: (904) 260-6757 be removed from the computerized phone calling service as NO ONE by that name has EVER lived here.  Receiving calls to the WRONG NUMBER at 0830 am needs to stop. I also found it irritating that when I tried to call that number to correct matters, the service will ONLY ALLOW access if one has a valid ID or SSN # and will not allow any other input.

I am definately not a college student, in my 70's and never went to college. I had the magic jack for a couple of weeks in dec.  I took it back to best buy as i could never reach anyone at customer service.  the calls I am getting is coming to my email addy with the phone number MJ had given me for those ffew weeks. This last one said call Scott McGuire at 800 7845309 about the credit loan...no way is anyone getting my ss # or anything else. Have attempted to call MJ to see if they can find the person who got my old number as it must be them who ACS or Educational credit corp is trying to reach if it is legit, which I doubt. I have about 15 calls I have been tapeing/keeping in case there is something we can do to stop this harrassment. They say the name of the person they are trying to reach but you can't understand that part of tape.

I can assure all of you that my 70+ year old mother does NOT have any outstanding students loans. She has also had the same phone number for over twenty years. She gets numerous calls from this number, getting a message saying that "this call may be recorded for quality purposes and then gets music and no one on the other end. She even let it sit on the counter for several minutes once and there was still music playing! I would not give anyone from this number any personal information. If you do have an account with the company they claim to be, I would call back and make sure you are really talking to the right people

This is for Education Services who is contracted out through ACS. If you are getting a call from them, then most likely you either have a student loan debt with them, or the person who had your number before you had a loan.

They are very easy to deal with if you tell them that the person no longer has the phone number they are calling.
