They have been calling home and now cell. They are a debt collector - I know because I just got a letter about a medical bill. Their name is - Merchants Association collection division.  Their direct # if you want to call to find out why they are callig is; 1-800-853-5859.

If this is for a IRS Debt this person you called is not a member or own this home or that phone number you called. If it is a debt for medical same as above. Does sound like a collection agency call which this is illegal to call they must by FDCPA be on the phone and can only leave there name and phone number its a automatic dialing phone system...for you all to know yes report them all! Not only that but they broke a third party law.

We have been receiving calls from this 1800 # for months. It does ask for my husbands name. My husband by chance happened to be home at 2 in afternoon (very rare, as he is always at work) and they say they are a debt collector. My husband told them he owes no debt. Credit score extremely high. Tell me what this bill is in reference to since I believe it is a mistake. We can't do that until you give us your social security # and d.o.b. My husband laughed. He said as anyone knows with all the scams going on he would never give this information over the phone let alone to a company that refuses to identify themselves in any way. Please mail me this "outstanding" bill as you claim with all the info and if this does pertain to me I will immediately take care of it - that was 3 months ago. Never received anything in mail and they just keep calling. I am guessing this is a scam.

Received similar calls from this phone numer.  I have no known outstanding bills and they do not say who they are or who they are calling on behalf of.  They are wasting their time, my time, and my cell minutes.  What can be done about this?

We have been getting these calls constantly as well at all hours.  Today there was no ID - just toll-free number.  It could be anybody!  Especially since it's a robocall.  These really should be outlawed.  I'm reporting them to DNC anyway.  Please do the same.

Also they are based in Tampa, FL and part of a larger organization called MAF I believe.

I called this number back and they refused to give me the name of the company or the name of the person who answered. They would just say it was a private matter and if they told me why they were calling it "wouldn't be very private would it". Nice logic huh? They would only say they were calling for Joshua Garcon-sp? "Private matter" but they give me the persons name that is supposedly in collections. Also new phone less than a month old with new assigned number so how is it that whoever this is went into collections that quickly? If he gave them a contact before and no one had ever answered would they have kept calling it? My phone is through AT & T Wireless. I also just registered for National Do Not Call Registry which I recommend everyone else does. In this case if this is a legitimate call the registry may not stop them anyway. Also even if it is not you they are looking for answer and tell them not to call you again and get their name if possible. It's my understanding that if you do so that by law they are not allowed to call you again or risk being fined $10,000 per occurrence.

I have had the same issue as most of the rest of you.  What I don't understand is that it says "If you are not ____, hang up now." You would think if the phone gets hung up EVERY TIME it says this that MAYBE the person they are trying to reach can't be reached at the number they called.  Or maybe that person just doesn't want to be reached at all. (Me)  So frustrating coz it's my cell number and every time they call it costs me cell minutes - and they call at least every other day.

They are calling me for unpaid medical bills from a hospital.
I spoke to them and they told me to contact the hospital for payment. *rolls eyes*

NOPE!  They are calling again!  Today and I see also on 12/30/09.  Fewer calls, but nonetheless, I told them this was a work number and not associated with the person they wanted to contact.  Wow!  I need to complain to a higher power.

They called here today and left no message.  That company picked up from another collections agency that went out of business two years ago.

I called them and let them know they were calling at least once a day on my work cell phone.  They said they would remove the number from their database.  We'll see.

I'm getting calls from this number at least 2 times a week.  Most annoying - caller id comes up with the # only, I don't answer but I get an automated voicemail msg stating they are trying to collect a debt.  MAKE IT STOP!

They will not identify themselves other than on off hours when you call their phone # the say they are Merchants Asso. Collection Division. The say they are collecting a debt. We asked that they send the debt information for us to see, They refused. We asked the not to call again, they ignored us. Can you identify these people? Can you stop them. We will testify.

Have receieved calls for a person that use to be married to my son leaves the message only for that person intended because of a personal matter. The message is only for those ears.  I just called back the number and they answered MACD > i ased them to not call my number again

I think its a debt collector for Bank of America, Ive been getting calls (all automated) for a month now about an "urgent account matter" but I don't have a Bank of America account. I called them to complain they were calling the wrong number and they said they would "see what they can do".  now the debt collector is calling for a guy Ive never heard of (also automated)  No one LIVE ever gets on the phone for me to tell them the number is wrong!

Same as above, these people are repeatedly calling my cell phone.  I filed a complaint with the FTC today. I don't have any debt and this is a new cell phone number for me.

Robocall to my cell phone.  First it states this is a call to _____, (doesn't give a name).  If you are not _____ (doesn't give a name), hang up, there will now be a 10 second pause.  They have called me twice now, once on 8/26/09 and today 9/1/09. Today it said nothing.  I let my voicemail pick it up because I don't answer numbers I don't know.
