I'm in Fort Worth, Texas and I received the same letter described by other post.  It has my name and address but no BOA logos or account numbers.  My letter claims that I need to provide an updated email address.  I don't have a BOA checking or savings account.  No BOA numbers on the BOA website match this number.  Thanks to all who post on this site to give a heads-up to others.  I'm not calling it, but I will contact USPS to report this as fraud.

I, too, received a hard copy letter in the mail with the number and saying my email is incorrect. Only account we have with BoA is mortgage and all the info is in my husband's name, this letter was addressed to me (full legal name). I became suspicious and went to BoA site. Never did I find that number on their website. When I googled it, all that comes up are sites claiming it as a phishing scam and bogus sites claiming to link to BoA - but none of them are the actual BoA website, rather Bank Watch type site. BEWARE!

Go to your local post office and ask to speak to the Postmaster.  This is mail fraud and they are the ones to start the investigations.

Did yours come via snail mail?  I'm used to email phishing but this was my 1st physical paper letter.  I looked up the phone number on the bottom and that brought me here.  As soon as I saw the number was a fraud, I called my local BoA.  They really weren't sure what to do and asked me to bring the letter in.  the acct the letter references is from an acct from YEARS ago when I first got married.  It's been closed for years and was never accessed via online banking.  I'm thinking I should ask the local police about this.  I think it's a whole other animal when they use the USPS for fraud.  After reading your response, I'm glad I didn't try to call.

Looks like they took a break in using this number, but started using it again recently. I have a BOA VIsa account that had fraudulent charges 2 weeks ago and got the letter today saying "multiple attempts to deliver your document notifcation to you via email, it appears the notification is being rejected." After calling the number, it asked for my full SS#. Nope! I notified my local BOA.

Seriously - I agree with you!  Since I HAVE been receiving regular emails from BofA, I got suspicious as to why it would send such a letter. I logged on - as you did - and saw before I went any further, that they DO have my correct email. As I said, I HAVE been getting messages no prob.  So I'm thinking, huh! and call the number.  Same deal - number has been disconnected and to call another number.  NOW I know this is BS!  Like you, google sent me here.  Scammer, spammers and all-around a-h**es!

I've been getting these letters every three or four months for years. I'd go into boa.com, update my email, successfully send a test and throw away the letter. This time I thought I'd call and see what the hell is up. First call it tells me "This Bank of America number is no longer in service. Please call blah blah blah." Strange but I call back to write the number down. this time it says "Welcome to Bank of America. Please enter or say your Social Security Number to access your account." I'm three digits in before waaaaiiiiittt a minute. Hang up, throw the number into google and end up here.

Thanks guys!

Received this same message at work on my e-mail.....I tried calling the number at first to find out what they were talking about since I don't have a checking acct. with the bank.  You get a recording to call after 7 a.m. (it was 10 a.m. when I called)  --was suspicious--I went to the bank on my lunch hour and inquired about this - teller told me I had opened a credit card over 10 yr ago and cancelled it.  She told me this was a scam - I gave her a copy of my e-mail and she would forward it to the correct authority. I also marked this page on my computer as a "scam"....hope this gets the joker who is doing this...I hate to see some poor seniors etc. drained of their accounts! SO PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS.

well I received a letter in the mail from BoA looks real , the letter asked me to call 18007920808 to update my email!!! it says that their emails to me bounces back to them ( which is not real) The letter is generic , it has my name and address but nothing related to my account number(s) or kind of account (checking/ credit card etc). I called but gave them a fake account number and dialed zero . I'm typing this while on hold.. now it has been 6 min. It looks fake to me. I'm gonna hang up. Beware.

I received this number in a hardcopy letter from BofA. I called, and the first prompt asked me for my full checking or savings account #. I don't have either, so pressed a button for operator, and was disconnected with "cannot complete your call as dialed."
The Phone Number is B of A

This phone number is B of A, but the emails are usually NOT. The reason the phone is accurate is that the email is an exact duplicate of existing B of A emails, with the links replaced with criminals instead of B of A.

FYI, 800-792-0808 is a legitimate B of A number, for online banking tech support in California.  Cf.
http://www.bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking/index.cfm?template=contact_us

You fsckers nearly gave me heart failure since I Googled that # *after* giving the folks on the other end a boatload of personal data.

Yeah, so, ummmmmmmm, did you notice the grammar and spelling?  Seriously! BOA pays their legal department MILLIONS to make sure things like that are correct.   I forwarded it on to abuse@bankofamerica.com.  However, if you actually fell for this one I'm sorry.  You should really read what is sent to you.

Since I was phished before with an EXACT duplicate of my usual B of A notification, I was immediately suspicious of this email, so I compared details to a legitimate email from Bank of America. They were not the same. I can't copy what the real link is when you hover over the link in the email, but it's a mortgage bailout something or other. The ip# is in France.
I will forward this to Bank of America, and so should everyone else.
Anything that may catch the scum doing this.
