This is getting old-them calling all the time saying that they need me to call them because it is urgant and is a personal matter.....send me a letter if it is that urgant! if they have my phone number they can just as easy get my addy. plus if I have a debt then you think that by calling me that I can pay all that at once---duh that's why ppl have debts. send a letter offering payment plans! and there is no reason they can't tell you over the phone what the debt is for..ppl might be more apt to call back if they what it concerns.

Thes are all scams trying to rip people off call your attorney general and give him all the phone numbers, names and addresses. West Asset Management is a lying, deceptive company that will threaten and call you till they get money from you even if you dont owe them anything. Ask them for a detailed descriptions of you supposed charges. Trust me the wont send it.

1-888-382-8088. Try this number. May be the wrong creditor but whoever takes the call will route you to the correct party. West Asset Management has multiple creditors in multiple locations. Good luck.

Ezdebtpay.com does work.  On some computers it wont. It might sound crazy but it does work. West Asset Management formerly Omnium Worldwide uses this method of payment alot. When the companies merged ezdebtpay didn't download correctly. I would just send in the payment which is cheaper or set up you payment with a collector or you can call the automated number 1-866-269-2879. They do work on a dialer that loads at midnight. Hopefully you havent received anymore calls since you made your payment arrangement. If you have call and ask for a supervisor. They are not scary people. They would have no problem looking into the issue.

There are three ways you can stop calls:

1. Settle the account in full or pay the account in full (unless the payment returns as invalid or NSF you wont here from the agency on the account again).

2. Set up a payment arrangement. Most companies want the account paid within 90 days. This can be biweekly, monthly or one post dated payment. (When you post date a payment the company will send you a payment reminder before they debit the money). The agency doesn't need the money that day. They just need the confirmation number so they can guarentee their client that money is coming. If the payment arrangement is broke expect a call.

3.Cease and Desist If this happens it is the consumers responsibilty to pay the account or take the action they need.

If you havn't done any of the above you will get calls. Alot of consumers get confused about #2. Just telling someone that you will pay doesn't STOP the calls. You have to meet them half way. Set up the payment over the phone and they will stop calling you.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Not all collection accounts go to your credit report. West also works 1st party collections and these accounts do not report to credit reports until 90 days after the 1st party process is complete. Consumers should absolutley research any company calling them. Unfortunatley there are companies that scam and have put a sour taste in consumers mouths.  When you receive your intial notice and by FDCPA has to notify you of the debt within 30 days. You then have 30 days to request proof of debt. This is printed very clearly on the letter and it is not the agencies responsibilty to provide it if you do not request it. If you have moved and did not supply your creditor a foward address it is not the agencies fault. You can request all calls to stop but it is up to the consumer to follow up on the account. In my months of collecting I have had many customers that never follow up on the account until it is on their credit and they demand it to be remove

Quahog: you are about 75% correct with your post. Your bet was wrong because most consumers are clueless as to what they can and can't do. Some collectors are in the job for the money but some a truly great people that can negotiate a payment arrangement.  If people manage their money and live within their means they wont have to talk to a collection agency over the phone.

Has anyone tried to go on 'ezdebtpay.com'?  When I attempted to go there I get 'no website is configured at this address'.  When I got a call from them I was told that I could pay on-line at ezdebtpay.com OR easydebtpay.com...either spelling would work.  But both spellings render the same error message.  When I google it several different things come up, including omniumww.com...which also give the site not found error.  When I use the 'easy' spelling all kinds of trash comes up.  I do know that I owe money (old phone bill, so it's not just medical bills they collect for).  Even though they are legit, I have to say I'm very leery. The reps are telling me repeatedly to go to a website that doesn't exist.  I have not avoided their calls.  I always  answer.  I made arrangements to make the payment and they keep calling....3 calls within 24 hours AFTER making the payment arrangement.  The last rep I spoke to said he saw the notation on the acct but still wanted to speak to me regarding the bill.  When I told him I already spoke with someone (twice) and I wasn't going through it again with him he said ok, I will call you back tomorrow.  When they call back I am going to do what one of the earlier post said and ask them to send me documentation (and send the letter to them) and go about it that way.  Thanks Quahog (which by the way, I'm not clueless...just recently laid-off and overwhelmed).

The number 800-798-2724 is for West Asset Mgmt - I think.  They are a collection agency for medical.  I owed Sacred Heart Hospital and after not paying on it my account was transferred to them.

For all you clueless people out there. (Debt Collectors I would bet)  Talking to a collection agency over the phone is the worst thing you can do.

Obtain a copy of your credit report/s from Experian, Equifax, Transunion and if you have a collection account being reported DISPUTE IT!   Just because it is there or someone is calling you does not mean this agency has a right to collect payment from you.   You first need to find out if they do indeed have that right.   Send the agency that is reporting a debt validation request send it certified mail return receipt.  If they do have a right to collect from you then they should have no issue sending documentation.  However if they do not have the right to collect from you  then you do not have to pay them.   If they fail to respond to your request all collection activity must stop which includes reporting to the credit bureaus.   I also want to add that in your letter make sure to tell the collection agency to cease & desist from any further communication unless it is by mail.

Just to let you guys know, West Asset Management formerly known as Omnium  Worldwide is 100% LIGIT- No scams, definitely not at all what the comment above me states. They very likely could have the wrong number, don't be afraid to call and let someone know they will REMOVE your phone number! (if it's a wrong number). They follow FDCPA guild lines which includes NOT revealing too much info on an answering machine, IT'S AGAINST THE LAW! Just call it back and if they have business with you then they will let you know more once the proper info is verified first! If not then they remove your phone number. I wont reveal what "kind" of company it is, because if you are getting calls you need to call back and find out for yourself.

I too had a vague message left asking me to call this number back about a very important personal matter, I did call and yes it is a collection agency, glad I called, I had no idea my daughters medical bills had been turned over to an agency, we had been fighting with our insurance company this past year on paying within network verses out of network.  Needless to say I was very shocked.  Glad the wounderful person "Duh! did note this is a collection company, however I think we could all go without the sarcasm!!

Even if it is a collection agency you should call them back. It could be a fraudulent account. Some people don't find out about ID Theft until an outside collection agency contacts them.

This is a debt collecting company. Someone you owe $$ to has turned your name over the collection agency. You owe them. That is your job now. What part of this don't you understand?

Maybe it's a wrong #.  Just because you don't have any debts does not automatically make it a scam.

I agree with last couple comments. if you pick up the phone or call the # back, you will know why thy are calling. This company handles probate matters regarding deceased people, so they wouldn't be calling abt anyone alive's bills. Come on people wake up!!

Why don't you answer the phone and find out what the call is for? Why are people scared of a phone call. How about calling them back instead of making assumptions? They may just have a wrong number. Like the previous comment states there are laws to protect people that owe money. They are used to protect you. If a collector left a message on an answering machine saying you owe $$$ or if they told someone besides you that you owe $$$, that would be wrong. Instead of complaining on a website maybe you should Google the FDCPA laws.

For all you uneducated people out there...per an act to protect people who owe money(FDCPA) collection agencies CANNOT give any information out on a answering machine.

same as everyone else... a message left that it was an important personal matter but no details... I called and they directed me to ezdebtpay.com

I know I don't owe anyone any debt so it must be a scam.

When I called that number I heard a recording indicating company name as "omnium" (sp?) also mentioned in the recording as the website address http://www.ezdebtpay.com

To me it sounds like a collection agency or something. Just and educated guess since I used to get cryptic and vague messages such as those often at a former employer that filed for bankruptcy.

I have gotten several, several, messages from this number, all asking me to call them back on an important business matter.... The only problem is - they NEVER state who they are affilliated with.... Is this a bogus number or what???? I will NOT pick up the phone for businesses that do not have the decency to list there name on the caller id....
