Which I have already taken care of. they keep on threatening me and call at randome times. They keep on asking for my address and ss# and I told them I don't give out my information then they say things we will see you in court! They keep on telling me that they're from a lawyers office. :( What should I do?

Called on a Saturday over a perceived debt I owed, Now there was a time I might have owed an alleged debt, but this was around 1999. Not any form of admission of guilt here, I did have a credit card but whether I settled the debt or not.... it's beyond statue of limitations. So, if this debt was connected to me because no judgments in that time have been levied against me, and no promissory notes or verbal contracts made since the possible default on that debt I may have or may not have had.

Here is a link for you: http://www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/ ... ld-debts-1.aspx (sorry collectors)

If you're a rep for Patenaude and Felix, I am very sorry I sound so harsh but it's time to put on your big boy/girl pants(uit). Your pretend law firm would be a great idea, and I'm going to be honest consider this tough love, your practices are flawed and I'm smarter then your entire "law firm" because I would not buy up from the original creditor Bulk debts without knowing the state for which the debts are in and if they are still under the statue of limitations. I know most businesses sell their debt in bulk sight unseen, but this means that you have to rely on the public not knowing the laws or their own rights in order to get paid. I'm sorry I'm making it harder on you, the prize is more valued the harder you have to strive. Just use tactics that violate the laws like so many others, it's not like every person knows enough about the laws to fight back and what's loosing a few thousand dollars to your victims that know enough about the laws to fight back?

Oh wait.... yeah that's not a sustainable business model... Why not just turn your collection agency Ahem "Law Firm" into a Call center for Intel, HP, and Apple? Cause let's be honest nobody likes calling them and getting an Indian call center. Anyway just food for thought.

(NOW TO THE DEBTERS) Oh and to all those bad Bad debt people who make the collection agencies cry go out, get off the internet! Give them a chance to sue you! Next time they threaten you with prison pretend to be scared, don't go off and sue them for damages totaling $1,000 USD which would be automatically awarded to you provided you can prove the collector made threats! That's just not nice!
AND STOP GOING TO: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/legal/ive-been-sued.shtml AND http://money.msn.com/debt-management/7-ways-to-fight-a-debt-lawsuit DEFFINATELY DON'T GO TO http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection AND ANOTHER PLACE YOU SHOULDN'T GO http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/debtcollection.php

Just watch tv or something.... thanks to you Joe Collector Shmoe can't get a bonus from his bosses because they can't get you to pay! Which means no remodeling his $500,000 home, he won't be able to afford the lease payments on his sports car.... and he'll end up being in debt!

FYI that last part to debters is all sarcasm.... F*** collectors, if they wanted to collect illegally they should have done so before the fair debt collection laws got put in effect. But they should become a call center so we don't have so many overseas IT jobs that'd actually help. Oh and there are more debt collection fighting help beyond those links, google is your friend.

Thanks for humoring my wall of text. hope you had a little laugh at my sarcastic siding with collectors.

These b*****ds got a judgement against me...the funny thing was the process server went to my old address and gave it to them. The current resident told them it was not them but he wouldnt believe them and told them they ie. ME had been served. LMAO....That was almost 10 years ago and never paid the judgement. I know they got it because I looked it up on the court records. So even if they get a judgement, they still have to figure out how to get the money. I am disabled so they cant garnish my money. I wouldnt lose any sleep over these scumbags.

A Law Firm that takes debts like these debts that are listed in these comments must have a weird/odd reputation or way of doing their business, why else would they have these kinds of debts they are handling.  Collections is just that "collections", it is their job to get the money and they will go to extremes as much as the legal will allow them (sometimes beyond).  In order to deal with them - keep the upper hand and remember YOU have the money, not them.

if you do go to their website, they have attorneys listed in some states, seems they don't have any real information other then they passed the bar. They aren't a Law office per sey they are a collection agency that has lawyers. When they do leave a message they are supposed to say this is a debt collection agency, the original company debt is ..... and not a reference number.  Report them to the FTC also.

Re: 408-***-9003

06/01/2012

Dear Patenaude&Felix

On 06/01/2012, you or someone from your company contacted me about a debt. I do not believe that I owe this, and I dispute it.

In accordance with Section 809 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am asking that you provide me, in writing, the following information:

      1. what the money you say I owe is for
      2. how you calculated this amount in a way I can understand
      3. show me copies of papers where I agreed to pay what you say I owe
      4. provide me with a copy of a judgement (if applicable)
      5. identify the original creditor
      6. demonstrate that you or your company is licensed in my state, and inform me of the license number.

Please provide this letter to the company for whom you are collecting so that they have notice of my dispute.

Furthermore, please inform any credit reporting agencies to which you've reported this debt that it is being disputed. I demand proof that you have done so.

Finally, cease and desist from contacting me in this and any and all related matters, except via United States Mail, and only then to inform me that you are terminating all efforts to collect or that you are taking specific court or legal action.

Sincerely,

HANNA,OH

I got one of these calls.  I have several outstanding credit card debt that my ex husband stuck me with.  I cannot afford to pay them at all.  I would claim bankruptcy but cannot afford to do that either, so I just have to let them go, but now I got one of these calls from an attorney office, and I am scared they are going to try and take somethign from me.  Can they?? Please let me know what you all have done if you got calls from them.

They are a collection agency with law degrees from unknown law schools. They are a sleazy collection agency that breaks the law and intimidates consumers. If you have problems with them, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online and the CA Bar Association!  Consumers have rights!!!

This place is a junk debt collection agency run by one attorney who employees maybe 50-100 customer service people making minimium wage with no legal experience.  I got completely taken by a private student loan lender (national collegiate trust/AES) if you google, they come up with hundreds of fraudulent hits.  They serviced a loan, raised the payments, say I miss payments etc. even though I didn't.  I did take a loan with them, so it is my debt, but I defaulted when my $200 payment was raised to $800 after the economy fell in 2008. Here is what you MUST know.  P and F are not representing 'clients' at all.  I know this as when I call National Collegiate Trust they went out of business.  When I tried to contact National collegiate trust they are bankrupt and no longer in existence.  AES states the debt was bought year ago as well.  So......basically they paid pennies on the dollar for this debt.  Let's say it was 25k.  They bought it for 2500, in hope you will pay them 25k and they get that bonus or commission. They sent me a settlement, but refused to put my name, address, account number, dob, and end of social on the document.
Essentially, they are hoping to scam me without proof of payment.  They have given me a summons, I never responded and it went to default.  I guess next it will be a judgment, although I don't think they will actually go that far as they have zero proof of what I actually owe them.  I'm not sure you can go to court representing a fake client for money.  Try it....if you owe chase or citibank pull up your credit files and call them. They will tell you who bought the debt and that no one is representing them.  These guys are scumbags.

Received a voicemail from (602) 347-5786 saying to call (800) 832-7675. My wife called the 800 number and they told her they were a debt collection agency. They then demanded that she provide them with her social security number, which she did not do. She hung up.  I can see how it would be easy for someone to become nervous during the phone call and provide them this information. Scary.

Every few months these people start calling numerous times a day leaving messages that if my answering machine doesn't hang up, it's an admission of guilt. They ask for the same names, one of which is Roger Morah.  As a collection agency, they can't be too successful when using the same phone numbers for different people. I have no doubt this is an ID theft boiler room who may be bogus, I have not attempted to verify state business registration with www.nvsos.gov.
