I got a call this morning, 10:34 AM EST, no voicemail. I didn't answer as it was a missed call. Glad to know it wasn't important.
Sadie 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
It's Sprint/Nextel customer service calling with a credit alert... ie, past due bill.
jeff 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
IT IS A SCAM!!!!! Period.
Do not believe anyone who says otherwise or you deserve to lose whatever they con you out of.
It has absolutely NOTHING to do with your bill or Sprint.
Please don't be stupid - they're originating from outside the U.S. by the way.

Sprint wants MY MONEY!!
Corey 2011-06-06 20:58:32 Unknown
I just got that call. It was an automated "sprint" rep, informing me that my bill was "past due" and I could pay with a debit or credit card immediately to avoid service interruption. Seemed fishy, so I hung up and called Sprint and they said that it was NOT their number and they do not use automated collections. It was a scam (I almost fell for it).

I got the call and my bill is past due. Received this call a few months ago also. Kind of ironic if it is a scam that it tends to coincide with me being late.

2 phone calls form this toll free number as "customer alert" for nextel customer, I am a non-nextel subscriber

Thank you for the information. I had an incident where I received calls 2-3 times a month for months for a person to call a credit agency regarding payment. I finally was able to understand the name (after numerous messages....the message was so fast it was unintelligible. But I looked up this person in the phone book and found the number was one digit off from mine. I finally called and gave them the information they should have caught in the first place. If they had reviewed records occsionally, they may have come up with the discrepancy. Calling their place of employment and reaching a private number should have been a red flag.

I"m not a sprint customer. and better yet I just got this phone number through vonage less than a month ago... and no one but 2 people have it...
faybio 2008-10-20 15:57:17 Unknown
It IS sprint.

Well I guess the scammers are out and about today....I decided to look up another number here...then I get this number "Sprint #", called it back & said it was the sprint finance dept....only problem I have with that is that I just made my payment 3 days ago so I just hung up!!! Glad I found this site...most of the time I just don't answer if I don't recognize the number....I usually assume it's just the wrong number if they don't leave a message....but have never gotten two in a row...maybe I'm feeling a little paranoid today....lol...looks like for good reason though!
nora 2008-08-29 14:49:27 Unknown
I didn't answer.

I keep getting this call at work, I've NEVER shared my work number with anyone outside of work, so some how they are getting it. I work in one of the most secure buildings in the US and it still comes through.

I just got a call from this number weird first time i was not left any message and the second time it was the automated male voice leaving me a message telling me to call them back regarding my account information

i also called up sprint and asked about the number 800-839-4254..... at first the representative told me there's no number in their Sprint directory that matches this... so she called it herself, and told me that this number is, in fact from the sprint finance dept. Then she told me that I owed them money.... WHICH I DO NOT!
Nicole 2008-06-03 00:44:48 Unknown
I just received a call from them, but I didn't answer. So thankful I looked on here before it calls again and for some reason gave them my account information. If we are all sprint customers, it has to be someone with access to their systems.
DjBorowsky 2008-05-29 15:32:07 Unknown
or hackers.Anyone have an opinion?
DjBorowsky 2008-05-29 15:19:08 Unknown
It is interesting to note, it is my father's account and my dad had a payment to make he forgot about, he just checked, so my guess they are stealing info from sprints database and that is how they know when a person has missed a payment. Probably an inside job because the REP said it wasn't a sprint number. The option menu was weird as well which is why I was suspicious in the first place.
DjBorowsky 2008-05-29 15:05:00 Unknown
I have received the same call a few minutes ago and I picked up and once I heard the options and the way the automated message spoke, I said what the f***k is this fake bull. So I looked it up online and hear I am. lol Kind of glad I did. I called Sprint and I told a Rep about it. He wrote it down and is going to give it to his manager and seeing how you guys have posted about this number for about a year I don't know if Sprint will do anything about it. I informed as well if you online you can find sites talking about this number. I hope they do something because someone will think it is Sprint and give there info.

Received a call from this number. They left a vm saying it was about my sprint acct. They also mentioned a reference number to refer to. I have been a sprint customer for over 10 yrs. They do not call in this manner. They leave free text messages if your acct is past due and they NEVER mention a reference number. It made me suspicious and I found this site.

Ditto.

I also just got a call this morning 10:34 EST, I didn't pick up since I didn't know who it was and as a rule, never answer 800 numbers anyway. My sprint bill is not overdue and as others have noted, sprint will send you a text message if it is. they did not leave voicemail, by the way.
SueRep 2008-05-05 15:32:59 Unknown
No message. I believe some of the posters below...these are spammers. NOT Sprint people.
Laura 2008-04-03 16:12:13 Unknown
I just missed a call from this number. As stated above by Nicole, sprint sends a free text msg to let you know your bill is past due. Not sure why I recd a call from this number, but rule of thumb, if I don't recognize the number I am not answering it.
xerographist 2008-03-31 22:07:01 Unknown
How do you get your number out of their system? They insist I need this other dude's account number or SSN; for security reasons no less -- what about my privacy? Any business ethics here?
