I've received an email from this company saying" This email was given to us by our client if you are the intended recipient contact us...."  They didn't mention who they're looking for, nor the supposed client... Is that weird or what??? Should I call back?

This "company" operates illegally. Ignore them or make a formal complaint to the OPC.

I received calls from this number the person on the phone called himself "Steven Kerval(sp?), talking about a debt that I had already dealt with 12 years ago, now he claims I still owe, I had already been making payments, they had 12 years to contact me about it, and according to the law the statute of limitations for Quebec is 3 years, who are these people and why are they only contacting me now??

I just got a call from them saying that I better pay or else...

My phone said '' UNKNOWN NUMBER and PRIVATE NUMBER ''. The guy call himself steve kirvell and he is getting more rude with his tone, because l won't his call's. I NEVER the phone to number l don't know and l totally NEVER return call to '' UNKNOWN NUMBER or PRIVATE NUMBER'S. The only reason this guy is getting ruder with his tone is because he CAN'T and WILL NEVER get my personal information. I have been informed that the police can do nothing. If it was a real collection agency, you have a LETTER FIRST.

Vous êtes victime de harcèlement par une agence de recouvrement ? On vous appelle à toutes heures du jour ? On téléphone à vos voisins, à votre famille, à votre employeur ? On vous fait des menaces ? Vous ne savez plus comment réagir ?
Depuis quelque temps des consommateurs nous appellent de plus en plus souvent, ne sachant plus que faire, face à de tel comportement. C?est pourquoi nous désirons vous informer des limites dans lesquelles ces agences doivent agir afin de vous respecter.
Sachez qu?au Québec les agences de recouvrement sont régies par la Loi sur le recouvrement de certaines créances. Cette loi protège toute personne qui doit de l?argent qu?il soit consommateur, commerçant ou professionnel. Toute agence de recouvrement doit détenir un permis de l?Office de la protection du consommateur et doit déposer un cautionnement qui pourra servir à indemniser une personne victime d?un dommage dû au non respect de la loi.
Tout d?abord, avant de communiquer verbalement avec vous, l?agent de recouvrement doit vous faire parvenir un avis de réclamation écrit. Il doit toujours s?identifier et ne peut communiquer avec vous qu?entre 8h et 20h, excluant les jours fériés et le dimanche. Si vous désirez plus d?informations sur votre créance, l?agent doit fournir dans les 10 jours de votre demande écrite, les renseignements suivants : la date et la nature de la créance à recouvrer, le nom du créancier, l?adresse du lieu ou la créance a été contracté.
Vous pouvez exiger de l?agence de recouvrement que l?on communique avec vous seulement par écrit afin de faire cesser le harcèlement téléphonique. Vous devez faire cette demande par écrit nous vous conseillons de la faire parvenir par courrier recommandé afin d?avoir la preuve qu?ils l?ont bien reçu. Notez que cette demande est valable pour trois mois.
La loi interdit également aux agents lorsqu?ils communiquent avec vous :
de faire croire que si vous ne payez pas immédiatement, vous irez en prison ou serez susceptible de poursuites pénales;
de faire du harcèlement, des menaces ou de l?intimidation;
de donner des renseignements susceptibles de porter tort à vous ou à votre famille;
de réclamer une somme d?argent supérieure à celle qui est due;
d?utiliser un écrit pouvant être confondu avec un document légal ou officiel;
de communiquer avec votre employeur, vos voisins ou votre famille sauf si l?une de ces personnes est votre caution ou une seule fois pour obtenir votre adresse.
L?agent doit :
vous remettre un reçu lorsque vous donnez un paiement en espèces;
sur demande écrite, vous remettre un reçu pour un paiement effectué autrement qu?en espèces;
sur demande écrite, vous procurer un écrit sur l?état de la dette dans les 10 jours suivant votre demande, le tout sans frais;
dans les 10 jours suivant le paiement final, il doit vous remettre une quittance, le tout sans frais.
Ne vous laissez pas impressionner par toutes les demandes qu?un agent pourrait vous faire. Par exemple, il pourrait vous suggérer fortement de lui faire parvenir un chèque lui permettant de faire des paiements pré-autorisés, refusez ces demandes surtout lorsqu?elles vous paraissent abusives.
En tout temps, vous pouvez contacter l?ACEF de l?Est de Montréal au 514 257-6622 si vous avez des interrogations quant aux pratiques des agences de recouvrement et aussi pour obtenir de plus amples renseignements à propos de vos droits.
Vous pouvez aussi vous adresser au bureau de l?Office de la protection du consommateur pour porter plainte si l?agent de recouvrement ne respecte pas la loi. Vous pouvez de plus, intenter une action et demander une indemnité si l?infraction commise vous a causé un dommage.

These same Idiots are calling my home for two people I have never heard of.  There must be some law to control these idiots.  I mean come on....They call and ask for some people and you tell them they have the wrong number and they keep calling...And after you answer they calls come more often.  My number is listed and they can see my name is not even closely spelled to the people they are looking for.

I've been receiving calls from this company and I spoke to one of their agents to tell him that they have the wrong phone number but they never stop calling. They leave me messages everyday.

They called me at work and left a message with a co-worker. They tried to tell me that they got the number from my debtor but they are lying because they had the number for an inside line and we never give that number out.
They knew they were calling my work.
I called back and had her pull up my file and then told her to delete that number from her file and to never call me at work again. Then I hung up.

Just received a call from them tonight and they are a collection agency and refused to speak English to me as well told me I am only allowed to make a payment for the account at a certain bank..which the nearest branch of this bank is 150kms away. The agent told me to just go there and open an account to pay the bill. I called the company I owe the money to and they state they have received a high number of complaints about them and they may no longer do business with them.

Rang several times. I was awaiting blood tests results for an ulcer and was confused by the D&A name so I urgently called back. They proceeded to call, and finally I found out they're a collection agency. Whoopie!

I always pay my companies directly and that's it.
