I agree with all of you.  I had a problem with profinity doing this crap to me a few months ago and they cancelled the service, then this month they showed up on my debit account again so I called them immediately and once again they cancelled the service but said they would credit my debit card within 10 days but I have yet to see any credit and it's been almost 20 days. talk about a hipocrit company.

They called a few months ago claiming to be from my credit card company.  They said I was a valued customer and offered me free gas vouchers.
About a month ago I received another call saying I was going to be billed (which I never agreed to).  They said they would cancel it and stop calling me.
Recently they started calling again and badgering me for my credit card information (which they had and I NEVER gave them!).  According to my credit card company, they've been trying to bill me but my card company didn't authorize the charge.  They call themselves "Member Services" and keep calling, badgering me for my credit card information, they claim it's so they can cancel the membership.
I reported them to the FTC and told the next caller than I had and he said they'd stop calling me.  Received 3 more calls from them today...
They refuse to give me any information about their company other than they're called "Member Services", they gave me a customer service number that no one answers, and they claim to be based out of California (but it took me literally 15 minutes of arguing to drag that little bit of info out of them).  The caller claims to be just from the billing department and says he'll transfer me to a customer service rep but only after I give him my info.
1-866-247-5671 and 1-801-851-5070 are other numbers I've found associated w/ this scam.

This company is into infecting your computer with viruses and phishing too.  The scam is that they have a virus that hijacks the address to the site you go to (in my case facebook) and you have won aprize but yo have to give them information.  You know this is a scam because there i no opt out with a close button or something that says "no thanks".  You have to choose to pick up on a prize like a $10 Target voucher by giving your credit card information.  What a deal.  I wandered through it with a complete false set of ID as Mr. XXX who lives at XXX Street in some random zip code I punched up.  THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS!!!! All of the folks that vouch for their ethics above are lying through their teeth.  RUN, DON'T WALK, AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!

You are absolutely right. A lot of times people get e-mails saying that they can win something if the just fill out a simple survey. Then that survey leads to another and so on. Then they ask you to repond to at least one companies offer or to get information about said company and then your one step closer to getting your free-bee, but you have to watch out what you are agreeing to. Most of the time one of those offers are ust a 7-day trial but most people don't read the fine print bercause by then they have filed out so many surveys and questionaires that they are not paying attention to what to what they have agreeded to and then thats when they get hit with a charge and they don't remember doing. Always pay attention to what you are filling out on-line. Technically it's not illegal. By the time you figure it out, if you figure it out, they already got you for several automatic payments or charges to your phone bill, and if they got you then they got hundreds of other people also and those little charges add up to big bucks.

turns out it is a real company just selling unnecessary products. if you want to stop all the madness, go to the source!

go back to your bank or credit card statements and find out when the first charge occurred, then go back 1-2 weeks to see if you bought anything from a legitimate online retailer, eg. book store, flowers, electronics. if you find one, try to recall if you saw a popup or clicked on a cash back offer. if so, it's that retailer who has a 3rd party relationship with this company through an intermediary company who gives kickbacks to the original retailer.

it's complicated, but your only options are to chargeback all questionable charges and complain to the original retailer... A LOT. if they get enough complaints, they will stop using these deceptive tactics that jeopardize their customer relationships. DO NOT call the company who is billing you unless you want to raise your blood pressure on purpose. read about fandango, they gave back $400k to duped customers as restitution for working with companies like these.

finally, discipline yourself and keep your mouse clicking fingers in check. don't click on any 'free trials' or 'free gas' or 'discounts at walmart/target/etc'. read the fine print and you will always see that there is a charge coming up if you don't cancel in time. just by clicking on a picture you are potentially releasing all your credit card info, and it is very legal.

These people called my home several months ago pretending to be customer service for my credit card company.  They said I had been enrolled in a elite membership program and they were going to send me $150 in gas vouchers.  They already had my name, address, and phone number so I figured it was probably them and said, go ahead and send it.  I was careful not to give them any additional information (especially credit card info).
Them called about a month ago asking if I'd received the vouchers (which I did but never touched them, they looked strange), and I asked them to cancel the membership and take me off their list.  They were very polite and said they would.  I thought that would be the end of it.
Today I received a nasty call from an caller-id blocked number.  A man with a thick Indian accent who claimed his company "Member Services" was going to bill me monthly for a service that I hadn't canceled within 21 days.  They said it would give me discounts at various retail stores and tried to convince me not to cancel it.  They said regardless of what I did, I would continue to receive calls from them.  They kept pressing for the expiration date of my credit card (I kept refusing to give it, and he got increasingly hostile)claiming they needed to verify all of my credit card information to cancel the membership or I would continue to be charged.  The caller insisted that I write down that his name was Alex Williams from Member services and I could reach them at 1-800-922-3615.
After arguing with "Alex Williams".  He once again asked me for my credit card info, stating that since I now had his company's info I should be able to give him my info.  I refused again and asked for a supervisor.  He tried to tell me that he was just from a billing department and didn't have anyone I else I could speak to and besides, he could handle my concerns anyhow.
After a few minutes arguing with him he finally asked to put me on hold for a supervisor.  The man who I spoke to next had an accent that sounded Australian.  He repeated almost word for word what he other man said, but he was even more persistent.  He claimed that if I tried to cancel I would be charged $19.95 and that I'd agreed to that when I'd signed up and given them my credit card info.  He added that I'd ordered something online and that made me "eligible" for their services. He pretty much called me a liar when I said that I don't give my credit card info to random people who happen to call my phone number.  I told him I never agreed to anything that charged me monthly and didn't recall any charges on my account.  I told him I wasn't going to pay any fee for cancellation of a service I never agreed to pay for but he said it wasn't optional.  I finally hung up saying I was going to call the Better Business Bureau.

I double checked my statements and I've never been charged for anything like they claimed, they just wanted me info.
PLEASE DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION!

Wow you seem to know a lot about this company.  So much infact that it sounds like you are an ex-employee who wasn't doing their job.  Did you began publicly bashing the company before they let you go or did you wait until you were fired to start speading half truths.  You have a lot of correct information in this post, but there is also a lot that is totally untrue.  The employees are in no way rewarded for not cancelling the customers memberships.  It is not how you keep your job.  People call in all the time that have signed up for the memberships and have legit questions.  Some customers feel that they did not sign up for the memberships and after the account has been verified right down to the mother's maiden name it is proven that they did.  Have you ever tried to sign up for any of this company's services?  It is not simply a click on a link and oops you are signed up.  You have to fill out the form and agree to the terms and then you click submit.  And by the way the quickest way to get fired is to tell a customer that their acct was cancelled and have them call right back and get someone else who informs the Supervisor of what happened.  Check you facts sweetheart. None of the trials are free, and that charge of 2.48 is clearly explained.

I have looked into this company and I even have a couple of their services.  People are so quick to judge that if it was signed up for on the internet then it must be a scam, or if a charge appears on your phone bill you don't recognize then a company crammed you.  People, it is simple pay attention to what you do on the computer and what you order over the phone.  If you are getting billed for a Voice Mail service, no one looked up your phone number, address, email address and other information to sign you up for a service that can only be used from your home phone number.  Get real.  And if your credit card is being billed for some membership, you in some way signed up for it.  There isn't someone sitting out there who is making up CC#'s and just so happends to be lucky enough to make up yours and is able to guess the name, address and phone number to go along with it.  Take responsibility for your own actions.

This number belongs to a company calling themselves Elite Save/Membership Billing Services/and God knows what else.  They bill for all sorts of stuff.  They say that you enrolled for services, which, for me, is untrue.  Long Distance phone services is what they say I enrolled for.  They call from a  201-471-9853 number saying that they need to confirm an order you placed.  Then they ask if you received your package of coupons for free fuel and other savings.  Of course this is bogus because if they say I enrolled in March of 2009, and have been billed $17.82 per month since, I should have received something by now, you would think.  This company is located at 102 NE 2nd Street Boca Raton Florida 33432.  This is the address they gave me. I have yet to find it anywhere on the internet.

Hello, I would like to comment on the statement made that the employees are refusing to cancel memberships to keep their jobs. This could be true, but I would like to tell you I trained last week. I worked nine hours this week. I started feeling sick each time I had to work and all the way through a shift. I applied to this job originally because I have customer service experience, I've been working from home for a while with a reputable company and this job appeared to be for customer service. Unfortunately I've decided not to return, due to the boiler room type approach they use. The job offers .18 cents per minute of talk time. But you have to commit to 18 hrs per week and they will send messages to you while working if they feel you are logging out too much. I have a really bad cold and was having coughing fits. When I informed my team lead of this she suggested jack Daniels. That blew me away right there. Took me two days to get the words boiler room of my tongue. I had call after call, people saying they never signed up, they don't have computer and i believed them, I alerted team lead and her response was what liars people were. I had hysterical old ladies etc. Now they do listen and if you don't offer a bunch of junk and try to keep them they will terminate your contract. But you are supposed to cancel and refund if they insist. I know I pressed all appropriate buttons to cancel each time. I also got calls where you could see the refund had been issued but they started being charged again. Team lead will excuse this as them pulling a fast one on us. So yeah maybe but I'm not entirely sure its the phone reps. I really think it is higher up. They operate under different names. I cant say they are a scam but I find their practices to be underhanded and I feel horrible that I was associated with this company at all! I personally cannot keep a job that makes me feel sick like that. My husband will continue to pay his and my share until I find something worthwhile to do. I hope every one of you are able to reconcile these issues and I hope maybe it helps to hear that some of us still know the difference between right and wrong!

You have it partly right
Yes they get your account info from other internet retailers - BUT ONLY if you take a survey or $$ off your current order offers.  If you did those - you did give them permission.

When you do either of these - it does state that you are enrolled in trial memberships and if you do not cancel you will be charged a monthly fee.

The Today show did a piece about them about a year ago.  They checked every single website that viewers had reported.  - The Today Show found full disclosure on all websites and determined that no one bothered to read them.

On a personal note - I too have seen those same offers on websites and I read the disclosures and DID NOT TAKE the offers.

This Company Hire Work at Home Independent Contractors, also you can find more information out about this company by going to google,The Company automatically bills customers and get their information off of websites when they place they order on other websites, the Company then proceeds to bill innocent customers for service that they never signed up to, All the customers that call in never signed up for the service that this company offer, The customers information is some how forwarded to this Company and after customers called in to cancel something that they never ordered, The workers do not Cancel their services just to keep their job, The workers tell the customers they account is Cancelled but don't do it to keep their jobs, They are the ones that this company keep, If you cancel the customers account per there request even though they never signed up more than likely you will be fired sooner or later for not trying to save the customer, this Company go by so may names thats its vey sad that the elderly and citzens of the US have to suffer. i'm reporting because it need to be looked into,I'm not reporting because they hire at home workers, I'm only reporting because its very ceratin that somehow when surfers order online, this company automatically gets there info to charge them, Some services that they offer are Buying Club Enrollment, Dinner Save Enrollment, LD Save Enrollment and its really not a legit program if it is when Customers Order off one of thier partners websites, that website automatically forwards the Customers info to these people, it said to be a free trial but they immediately bill the customers $2.48 for something that they never offered, When you call the number thats provided the caller will be a work at home caller, theres no way the caller can transfer you, and you wont be able to reach a supervisor, or manager but it is people behind this, also they contact workers and Team leaders on skype.
They are billing peoples home phone number with AT&T for voicemail, whih is not needed, then they proceed to bill callers credit cards for other unwanted charges, these people are ordering other things online off other sites, and they info is then forwarded by platform I would think to this company.
Profinity known as membership Billing services, with Memberships Plans that online buyers never signed up for.

Logged into my bank account and discovered that I had $12.95 taken out by CLUBSAVE and 4.05 taken out by VALUELDSAVE.com. They had the phone numbers 18009223516 and 800-922-3615. I've never even heard of these people, and I haven't used my debit card anywhere rather than the same places I usually do. The guy I talked to had no clue what he was doing. He said I signed up for something last month that I hadn't, and I told him to cancel it and give me my money back. At the end he tried to convince me of a gas rebate card, but I told him no. I don't appreciate random people stealing money out of my bank account.
