I was told by US Bank at their official phone number that they are no longer the holder of the loan note.

I contacted the servicer, My Great Lakes, and they told me that they weren't the holder of the loan note either and the gave me this number to call, 800-934-8849.

I call 800-934-8849 and they say they are US Bank. However, US Bank does not acknowledge them or that number. I have paid on time for years and had fallen on hard times and hit a 29 day late mark, they told me there are no repayment options, forbearance or deferment options available to me. They were rude and unprofessional and told me I have to pay whatever they decide they want. I disconnected the call at this point.

Welp, they exercised right of recovery and took the money out of my dad, cosigners US Bank mortgage account. I felt soooo bad. However, I am also really confused. If US Bank has sold my loan - who owns it? Why don't I have any repayment options (I am not in default - only a few days late)? How are they able to exercise right of recovery and deduct from my dad's account?

Received a call from this number, didn't say who they were, but said that this was in regards to my life?! I called it back and sure enough it's US Bank Student Loans. OK--so now if you have student loans, they're threatening your life?! I'm not in default or even delinquent on my private or federal loans and mine are serviced by Sallie Mae? Sounds like scam or case of identity theft if you ask me!

I received a message from them today. I returned their call. I was on hold for 22 minutes. Young male answers. When asked what the call was in reference to, his response was, "Well, this IS the student loan department..."
I hung up on him. I have co-signed for no loans that are in arrears. He offered no information on anything. Smart-aleck, smarmy service people should be terminated.

I got a call from them too.   The said they were a servicer for Great Lakes Higher Education.  I have no student loans that I am in default on and the ones I do have...I'm still in school.  I will send a letter and see if they respond.

This number is for US Bank student loans.

I also called the US Bank Student Loan services at 800.242.1200 and they indicated the number is for their Great Lakes pre-collection loan servisors and that it was indeed a legitimate number.

I'm still going to snoop more before I call them back.

I received a call today claiming to be US Bank student loan services.  The number they left for a callback was 800-934-8849.  I called it back out of curiosity, and it was clear they aren't who they say they are.  Always verify phone numbers before calling anyone back and giving out any personal inforamtion.

Claims to be USBank Student Loan Department but nobody answers when called back.  After calling 800-242-1200, the legitimate USBank Student Loan Department, I was informed that 800-934-8849 is not associated with them so do not provide personal information to anyone calling from this number!
