realized that they're not after my account, they're after my info to create accounts elsewhere so i might be compromised. called Citibank and they said this number is not associated with them but they also said citibank does verify customers with their ssn. Also this number and their actual student loan center number has the same answering machine, asking for the last 4 digits of your ssn. read on another forum that someone else put in their ssn and was able to talk to an employee at Citibank so im confused. Is this really Citibank or a scammer??

they called me twice saying I needed to call them back about a student loan. called back and got machine, and, like the f****ng gullible idiot that I am, gave the last 4 digits of my ssn.......called Chase, my main bank, and told them about it. They said they shouldn't be able to access my account without knowing my security questions but I'm not too sure about that..will be checking my account every hour now to make sure nothing happens. anyone else who put in their social should immediately check their account and call their main bank. I might have to shut down my account :(

This company called me a while back and I didn't answer. I called back and told them they had to have the wrong number. I let them know that their company has never loaned me any money, but they couldn't even tell me the name of the person they had called for. They told me that even though I let them no they had a wrong number they were going to continue calling here ! That's not constructive, but it's def harrassment ! I wouldn't even so much as give them my name over the phone. They don't need to know my name after I told them that they had a wrong number and not to  call it again.
Yet Citibank expected me to tell a voice machine my ss# over the phone to a stranger ! Yea right! They called me yesterday without telling me who they are,  or the business they represented so I told them they had a wrong number after asking to speak with ( my first name). Sly b*****ds. I'm self educated. I'm also too old to be in college. Why would I have ever taken a student loan? Don't these idiots ask for photo I.D. when loaning money to people? Looks like they got ripped off !!! Hahaha If they call back I'm going to have them give me the name of the loan officer who gave a criminal a loan in my name. I'd love to see the the way the signature is signed on the loan contract, because there's no way it matches mine.

This is a prime example of why I feel I have to screen my calls.  I never answer numbers I don't recognize and it's because I'm tired of being harassed.  The guy on my voicemail said he was from CitiBank and I think he said something about my address being invalid?  He was hard to understand because he wasn't talking loud enough (his accent didn't help, but was pretty well articulated).  I'm on the do not call list and I still get calls like this all the time.  Once upon a time I had a lot of debts out there, but according to my credit report they've all been paid, so why am I still getting calls????

THIS ABSOLUTELY IS A SCAM.  They called and called stating that I had a loan with them and wanted a payment.  They could not give me any information about the loan, including the number or the amount, they just wanted my $400 payment.  I asked to speak with the supervisor, to which he refused.  Apparently the "supervisor" would not speak with me.  He needed my email, which I refused, and he asked me if I was on social networks such as Facebook.  WHAT?!?  He also needed my phone number and I gave him a fake one, and he instantly gave me my "balance."  He called me and I stated I would "make a payment online" to get him off of the phone.  THen I called back (Same person answered on an 800 number!) and he said there was a payment posted to the account.  There was no payment made to my fake account.  This was all reported to the FTC.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!!!!

It's a number from Citi Bank, and for me it was collections. I have a student loan with them and they somehow got some information wrong as to whether or not I am currently enrolled and were expecting payment.

The number directs you to an automated system and if you call 1-800-967-2400 (the contact number from Citi's studentloan.com) you get the same system.

I told her according to state law you can be fined up to $11,000 per call now..because I told you to stop calling!! I asked "when I will receive my money?..& if you call again ..I will charge an extra & 11,000 per additional call"...LOL... SHE HUNG UP!!!

Citibank is the worst.  Even if I offer to talk to them, I can't because I'm the wife.  They are constantly harassing us. Usually, I get the "Please hold" nonsense.  The last time they would not even identify themselves and told me it was a personal matter.

This number has been calling at all hours. It may be for my daughter. I won't talk to them, but I do answer the phone and put it in front of the radio which is tuned to either talk radio or religious programming, and leave it there for several minutes. I do this to all repetitive, annoying calls, and it seems to make them stop calling aftter a few times.

Just to let you all know. The best way to get a hold of Citibank student loans is to call the number listed and stay on the phone for a few mins and do not press any numbers on the phone then you will automatically get transferred to customer service. Hope this is helpful as I was having a very hard time contacting someone.

I've tried three times to call and tell Citibank that I was never out of school and that I don't owe any payments yet because I'm still in school. They can't speak English and spend ten minutes trying to update email information. Then after everything ask me if I want to make a payment. I was told I'd be sent some paperwork to defer the loan and never got it. So finally found it on-line. Tried to call again today and got the same mumbo jumbo. And the lady hung up on me because I kept saying I didn't owe anything and no one can understand me. So lame. The outsourcing is hurting everyone...and if you are going to do it then make sure they know how to communicate with the American students calling!
