I have been receiving calls from this number over & over & over, etc.
Calling back has the same result as noted above,(this is a non working number),
I called AT&T and talked to their "annoyance division" they put me on "Their"
"Do Not Call" list. I was told that I now will not receive calls from them "or" their third party vendors. I am hoping this will stop this headache.Un

We have received several calls this past 2 months on one of our business lines from 801-201-1221.  Our system now automatically routes them to voice mail where they always hang up without leaving any messages.  However, I did answer a couple before we knew they were telemarketers.  Basically what they tell you is that they are ATT, when in fact they are not.  The caller id they have displayed on your phone (801-201-1221) is really a fake or spoofed caller id number they made up, not the real number they are calling from. After telling you they are ATT, which they are not, they try to trick you into giving your permission for them to switch your phone service AWAY from ATT.  In a nutshell, they are trying to steal ATT's real customers.  If you have not already done so, you need to call the real ATT and have them place a "lock" or "freeze" on any ATT services you have, so that they cannot be changed without your personally calling ATT.  Also, these telemarketers are NOT, repeat NOT, ATT vendors of any type.  ATT would like to prosecute these telemarketers for stealing their customers thru fraud, per my conversations with 2 real ATT vice presidents.

Caller stated that she was a rep from a travel agency in Citrus Heights, CA.  She had a thick accent and stated that I won a trip that was part of a promotion they were having.  I kindly listened and said no thank you, and she hung up in my face - rude!

I got another call from these guys today. This time I answered with Hello and got connected to a sales rep who could barely speak English.  She claimed to be from "customer service at AT&T" and could "guarantee" me better rates and "lots of incentives".  All I had to do was give her my phone number and she would switch me.  I am not sure who they really are, but they are not "AT&T".

I got six calls today from this number , finally I did not hang up and after 30-40 seconds I got an AT&T outside vendor trying to give me "free" upgrades for only ten dollars more a month. evetually I was able to talk to a supervisor and told him to stop calling or I would complain to AT&T and the FCC.
I will post later if this works (or not).

I have received perhaps 10 calls today from this number on two different business lines.  If I find out who is doing this I will never buy anything from them.  Then I might begin a call campaign of my own.

I got a call from this number saying they were will AT&T.  I asked three times if it was a sales call and she just kept telling me she wanted to talk to me about my internet service.  Then she hung up.  I can't believe At&t is allowing third party representatives to do this.  I have noticed this number on my phone caller id several times and they are wasting my time.  I am not calling At&t and will waste some of their time demanding that I speak to supervisor after supervisor until they get the picture that I can waste their time too.

Got a call at 9:00 pm tonight (Monday) from this number and, assuming they were an ordinary telemarketer, asked politely to be removed from their calling list before they even launched into their sales pitch.  Every other telemarketer I do this with complies or at least says they'll remove the number but no, not these guys.  At first he said HEY HEY HEY BUT I HAVEN'T EVEN SAID ANYTHING, so I asked him again to remove my number, he refused and seemed to mutter something about why I would want that.  I told him that this number is on the national do not call list and it is illegal to be calling us, to which he replied NO NO NO NO NO!  SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU BACK IN 5 MINUTES!  He had a southeast asian accent and was very argumentative.

What the hell is wrong with these people?!

Got a call from this number.  We realized it was a telemarketer and immediately said that we were not interested.  The guy immediately countered that we did not know what he was offering and therefore we could not be "not interested."  Bottomline, he was argumentative and rude, and hung up.  We did not try to call this number.

Our office has been receiving calls to upgrade our internet to a faster speed. We are not interested at all but over the last few month we have received over 20 calls to perform this upgrade. Today we got a call from a man who was obviously of middle eastern origin; stating he was from AT&T. He would refuse to transfer me to a manager unless i upgraded first. I was thinking what the heck! i hung up and when through this 4 times in under 10 minutes. Then he agreed and put me on hold. I spoke with my co-work about it while on hold. Get this! He comes back on the line and says he was listening the whole time and that hes going to sue me. For what i dont know. He confirmed our company name and asked if we were in our office. I said well would i have picked up the phone if i was not in the office. Anyhow, then he says just watch see what i can do to you in 15 minutes. Immiditely after i call Small Business support for AT&T and made a formal complaint. Talk about harsh methods to get people to upgrade.

Whatever you do, do not believe these people when they tell you they are from ATT!  They are not!  They are Asian or Indo-Asian spoofers, using a fake number to cover their exact location.  What they are trying to do is to get you to say "Yes" to any one of their sales opportunities.  What they will do, once they have that ostensible permission, is to actually switch your entre service package away from ATT, and then, like as not, charge you gosh-awful fees for their "services."  If you do, indeed, use ATT, be sure to call and report this attempt to spoof your services.

These scoundrels now also appear to be going after the customers of other companies, as well (I use Comcast, and they tried the same scam on me), so it may behoove you to report this attempt to spoof your account to whatever provider you do use.

Oddly enough (ha!), if you try to call them back, chances are, you will find that they actually have their number blocked to that you cannot call them.  I did the same to them, in turn.

Someone calls my place of business everyday from this number.  They say they are from AT&T.  Today, I asked them to remove us from their call list and they hung up.  I tried to call them back  (I was pissed off to tell them not to call here again and I get the message "the person you are trying to call is not accepting calls at this time".  Very frustrating!

If you would like to toy with these folks, ask them where they are calling from. They are likely to name a major US city. Then ask them, "How's the weather there today and what's the zip code you are calling from. Of course, they have no idea what a "zip code" is.

~~OR~~

As soon as they start speaking, ask them for their credit card number. They will be dumb-founded. Then tell them "This is a consultation service line" "Now, I need your credit card number"?

HaHaHa!

I have received 4 calls from a 1221 number tonight and each time there
is no one on the other end.  T-Mobile provides service and they claim they have no log of the incomming calls.  Sounds like someone figured out a way to beat the system.  Call Block seems to stop the problem.
