got calls from this no.  no idea who it is. left no msg

I got an email as well from a Larry Johnson; asked for basic info; I gave everything but my phone number; told them if they were really interested in having me as a 'secret shopper' they could contact me via email.  Received further emails from 'Insignt LLC' - signed by Larry Johnson, Secret Shopper.  They sent me a check via ups for $2940...Figured it might have been a scam, but I looked up Insignt LLC and could not find any scams listed.  So i deposited the check to my bank account; Now the funds are 'unavailable.'  More than that, my bank will not let me touch the money that is in my account, because I - of all people - am under investigation for fraud, all because I deposited the check.  They said they could do nothing til monday when i have to go my bank in person and speak with a manager...definitely NOT worth it... I intend to bring the ups envelope, w/ tracking number, address, etc. as long as all of my correspondences.  
There was a phone number on the check - should have written it down before I deposited. The 'sender' of the envelope was an individual, with a very diff. name than the one who supposedly authorized the check...

How come they ended up in court? What's the scam?

I had a friend that  received an email from Larry Fisher and a 2500 dollar check. They had it majorly checked out and everyone said the check was real. They cashed the check and the bank cleared the money things went down hill from there they are now going to court.

My contact with M & M come from the following email address, at which time I came across your website via a "google" search:

Thank you guys for the information. With the current employment situation being somewhat dismal at the present time, these crooks are always looking for easy marks. Websites such as yours are a Godsend.

The public needs to take the time to thoroughly investigate the phone calls and emails they receive from non-solicited persons or companies.

I received an email from a Larry Johnson of the M&M Secret Shopper Service offering me a job as his personal assistant paying $400 a week.  The email came from firstgroupsecret@aol.com.  I figured this was a scam and I'm grateful to whomever set up this website so that I am able to verify my thoughts were correct.

Thank you for the information.  I got a message in my e-mail from a Larry Fisher who said he needed a personal assistant and was working for a company called M&M secret shoppers.  He gave me an e-mail address as firstgroupsecret@aol.com.

They e-mailed me.  Told me their name is M&M Secret Shopper Service.....

Forget it - I just ripped it up. Not worth being scammed!!! (when it sounds too good to be true- it ISN'T!!)

Same exact thing here. Same amount of check and same address. What is up with them? Received this i August as well. Anyone know?

They did not call me they sent me a check in the amount of $1570.00 and some correspondence. The correspondence has the already mentioned address and the check has an address of: E. P. I. Services Inc., 216 W. Village Blvd., Laredo, TX 78041. The correspondence shows E. P. I. Management & Serices Inc. (The Secret shopper Employment Agent)

HOW DOES SCAM WORK IF THEY SEND U A CHECK?

This telephone number is affiliated with a 'secret shopper' scam in the name of M.M.L. Management Services.  Potential victims receive a check along with a letter and are asked to shop and send funds back to the company via Money Gram.  The address for this company is 975 Broadway Ave Suite 1126 Concord Surrey, BC M3K3T8.  Do not reply to the individual that sent you the check, it is a SCAM!
