I recieved a call at my place of work saying it was a emergency to call this number back I called the number back, I was to ask for a Mr. Mccafferty. I spoke with him he thearted to send a sheriff to my place of work. for not paying on something he gave me the information and told me I had 24 hours to reply or he would send a sheriff to have me arrested. I there for called him back later on. And told Mr. Mc Cafferty. That I would let him take $190.00. from my acccount. To make a long story short he ended up taking the full amount that he stated I owed these MTE bank. Out of my account. He states he is with EDA. Looked up phone Number. belongs to Matthew's Law Firm.

This is in Reply to Tammy's comment. It is against the law for a debt collector to contact you at work and also don't ever pay them over the phone because they could be scammers. Always request that they send you something in writing regarding the debt they are collecting on as debt collectors are required by law to always send something in writing.

Received a call from Ashley saying it was extreme emergency to call this #.  Have not called.  Did not identify who they were.

received a call from this number on my cell as a "Private" number... "Ashley" left a message for "grama" to call her "immediately".... didn't call back...

Got a call from the same number "Unknown Caller" requesting a call back. No information other than the phone number was left

got a call with no message left.

I rec'd a vm from "Yvette" stating I need to call EAD before 5PM EST today. It is an Urgent Matter and she left # 803-791-0981. I receive these calls all day long. I had one guy threaten to have the "warrant sherrif"  visit my job to arrest me b/c I was in default of an agreement. The gentleman would not give me any info and he said I had a court hearing the next day, but, he couldn't tell me where it was or time. He says "it's not my problem to give you that info, you should have received this info by email" Immediately following that statement I knew he was fraudulent. Any legal matter involving court and hearings they don't use email as a form of communication/notifiation. A certified letter would have been sent to your home. These collectors are desperate and will use any scare static to get a debt paid.

I got one of these at work and I have NEVER given out this number to anyone, payday loans or otherwise (it's been at least 2 years since I last took a payday loan and I changed jobs 1 year ago).  She stated her name (can't remember it now) and told me to call her regarding an urgent matter.  After seeing this forum, I chose not to call.  I have been involved in situations like this before and can't take any chances.  I can tell you they can't send the sheriff after you, there is no such thing as "debtor's jail".  I did all of the research on these types of claims the first time I fell victim to a scam like this.

Call them @ 803-791-0981, Mon-Fri between 8am-5pm est. Ask for Head of Operations. He used to be out of the office quite a bit, but has now become aware of the things being discussed in these forums. These were never practices known or condoned by the company, but are being aggressively rooted out. I was told this appears to have been 2-3 individual, that they are no longer with the company in any capacity & that they do not allow anyone to use alias' because if they followed what they were trained to do, they wouldn't need them. The gentleman told me that he has told everyone on their staff to "treat everyone with respect & professionalism at all times". He said they are diligently working toward clearing their name & to insure that their philosophy of working with people to resolve their debts is exhibited at all times on all calls. Give him a call. I'm quite happy with the way he resolved my concerns.

These people are trying to collect from MTE, some type of cash advance/payday place. It is illegal to threaten to have a sherrif pick you up as it is a civil matter. Due to the outrageous interest rates charged in these type of idustries, collecting on the amount borrowed is usually just a scare tactic. They can't do anything but threaten you because most of the arrangements they make are outside the law to begin with. They try to collect money on bad debt. They will try to scare the crap out of anyone who will listen. Ignore them, they will crawl back into the hole they came out of.

calls on answering at work and at home looking for my son Michelle saying that it was urgent for him to get touch with them but didn't identify who THEY are the number they left 803-791-0981 but unknown caller shows up on caller id

I have received a few calls from this number also saying it was very important that I call them back. Today being Sunday the phone company is closed so I can't get info from them either. I did try to call the number back but, I hang up after about the 6th ring. I don't think the collection agencys will call on Sunday. I could be wrong on that though. If anyone gets any info please let us know what they find out. Thanks in advance.

dont give them your account information whatever you do, i did because i owed a bad debit, and i knew that, but i authroized them to take 10.00 a a faith payment, and asked them to wait till like the 2nd for the 180 and they didnt, they debit my account the full amount today....threw my account into overdraft, and they dont care

Received call from a female.  She wanted my brother but didn't say what it involved.  I asked if it was business and she said no.

CALLED MY WORK NAME GIVEN, GERID MC CAFERTY, STATED HE WAS EAD, AND WAS GOING TO SEND A SHERIFF TO PICK ME UP AT MY WORK FOR A LOAN FROM MTE. I ALSO CALLED BACK AND MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY WANT I OWNED MTE. GAVE INFORMATION TO GERID MCCAFERTY.

They called me too and they identify themselves as EAD and state that it is urgent that I contact them. I am not sure who it is. Normally if it is a collection call they have to identify themselves as such.

Received a call on my cell phone this afternoon from a Janey requesting that I call back ASAP. No other information was given. She also stated that it was an urgent matter. Received a call at my work this morning from a Janey requesting that I call back ASAP. No other information was given. She also stated that it was an urgent matter.

I have gotten a call and message literally every day (Monday-Friday) for over a month. The call comes to my cell phone which is also on the Do Not Call Registry. At first it was just annoying but now it's REALLY starting to make me angry. I'm afraid to call the number back because then who knows what I'll be "signing up for" by just making the call. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Same here I got the same VM, but they don't say where they are calling from, theuy just said they would be forced to make a decision for me...they don't say where they are callin from though, or who they represent!

"Please call ASAP or I will be forced to make your Decision."  this was the message left with my Mom out of state and at work on my voice mail.  have no idea who it is or what they want.
