Called on my cell phone --Recording IDed self as Citi Financial, with a callback number, then died out. I called the originating number, which answered as Citi Financial. I explained the event, asked what the call was about.  "Do you have an account with Citi Financial?" "Ae you CitiBank?" I asked, got a hedging answer (I have a credit card with CitiBank, which I stated.). I asked again if they were CitBank, operator answerd "Yes."  Offered to look up my account using my social security number.  I said that I do not give out my social security number.  "Would you like to speak to a supervisor?" I said my only concern was to know the reason for the call, and hung up.  CitiFinancial appears on the Internet (http://www.citifinancial.com/index/index.php) as a loan and loan consolidation company.  Their logo is designed to look like CitiBank's, but they do not claim any affiliation with CitiBank, though there is a link to Citi on their site.
The following report was left by a commentor from another phone-search site (http://whocalled.us/lookup/8038355025) where I have also posted this message.

This is Citigroups hired junk debt collector, NCO Portfolio Services (AKA NCO Financial). A very scummy junk debt collector that hounds people mercilessly via telephone calls, faxes, text messages and automated voicemails.??They've called me more than 70 times in February 2009... despite the fact that I'm not who they're looking for. They're looking for some woman named Jennifer, and I'm a guy who knows no one by that name, and I've never had any form of Citigroup account. When informed of this, they simply say, "Pay us what you owe us, and we'll leave you alone."... like they're too retarded to figure out that they've got the wrong number!??This company is also known for (and has been sued in the past for) tricking judges into believing they properly served the people they're suing, then getting default judgements against them (how can a person defend themselves if they've never even been informed that they're being sued?!), then raiding their bank accounts and garnishing their wages... they've even done this to people who they KNEW were the victims of identity theft, and therefore didn't owe the money! There's also the belief that they're running an ad-hoc extortion ring... even people who DON'T owe them money are harrassed until they pay this company money.??Complete criminals, this bunch. If you're being harrassed by this criminal extortion ring, and you have a Citigroup account, I'd close the account and let Citigroup know why you're doing so.

I pick up to a dead call twice after two rings.
I pick up first ring and it's a please hold recording.  System hangs up.  This was last night at about 9PM local time.  Funny.

It's Citigroup.  Not sure why they'd call when I'm paid up and almost paid off.
