I got a call from this number this morning.  they stated my name and phone number and that they were from Verizon Wireless.  The said that my contract was coming up for renewal and that they would like to assist me in getting my contract renewed.

The problem is, my contract had been on month-to-month for the past several months because I wasn't sure I wanted to keep Verizon.  I finally decided to purchase a new phone through Verizon and thus renewed my account last month automatically.

This call was obviously a scam since the information I was being given about my contract did not match reality.

I also called Verizon immediately and they have no record of anyone making a phone call to me.  I will be making a request that this number and the fact that it's a scam be broadcast to all Verizon customers.  I suggest that others make the same request.

Someone is falling for this scam, releasing private information, and will end up paying for it!!!

This number called my phone twice yesterday but I left it in the car so I wasn't able to answer it.  Has my number been scammed?  I have the no call registry on my phone so if they are a business or seller they are against the law!!!!

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Version customer so I cannot be behind in my bill or "need" to upgrade my phone or any other legit thing.  They are calling my land line and have also called my AT&T cell phone.  Call is from some auto-dial place - It takes them a while to start to talk after you answer.  They have never identified themselves. The line goes dead soon after they start talking.  Not a good sales feature for what is supposed to be a phone company!  No way they are legit!

CSR calling after 2 days to say that drop call issue is b/c of phone that just been close to over 25 month in service that it's to upgrade then when upgraded to recommended phone still running into same issue "Sales & promo Department" wana push other device & on top off it they want to charge me re stocking fee. Tech department or so called national services center tier II concluded that it is there backend network issue not the new phone. But Sales rep, insist that new phone will fix the issue. One word "Superficial service" Where is the so called “can u hear me now” guy

THIS IS NOT SPAM!!!  My boyfriend who is on my account through Verizon Wireless needed to talk to them about a phone malfunction.  They were calling me to verify he was on the account and it was okay he was calling.

Has called me EVERY SINGLE DAY for 2 weeks. The first time I answered I was in class and told them that and hung up on them; before I did they said they were Verizon. Now they've called at all times of the day or evening since. I won't answer.

I got a call from this number and they stated that one of my lines was not under a contract.  That  is true, since I  am waiting to upgrade.  They offered me a free month of service on one of my lines if I would renew my contract.  I told them I was at work and could not talk at that time.  I asked for a number to call them back at and they said they would call me back.  They have called me back twice, but I have been unable to answer.  
I am glad I looked them up, because now I will for sure not renew with them.

It is a legit number. I took the representative's name/extension and did not provide any personal information. It is a Sales and Promotion Department. I called Verizon Customer Service to verify the information and the notes from the call where on my account. They offered us a free month of service for staying with them for 2+ years. A nice, unexpected call.

This is a customer service/sales line from Verizon.  When you call you can connect to sales or customer service.  They usually are trying to get me on a plan because my aircard account is now on MTM.  Doesn't seem like a scam, just upselling.   But it would be nice if they allowed caller ID or left a message.

PLEASE, DO NOT BELIEVE SOME OF THE PREVIOUS POSTS ABOUT THIS NUMBER BEING LEGIT. THEY MAY BE APART OF THE SCAM...I had this number to call me many times and they never left a message. However, I called Verizon Wireless and 4 reps stated that it is NOT a legit number. In addition, I realized that I have a family member that is a supervisor for a Verizon call center and he/she advised that IT IS A SCAM and DONT RELEASE AN PERSONAL INFORMATION (ssn#, credit card #s and banking acct info.).... PLEASE, DONT BE FOOLED BY THE SCAMMERS!

THIS NUMBER CALLED ME SO MANY TIMES I FINALLY ANSWERED THEY ASKED FOR MY CREDIT CARD AND I GAVE THEM MY NUMBER AND EXPERATION DATE. THEN THE CHARGED ALMOST $20000 IN CHARGES TO MY CARD AND I AM TRYING TO GET IT CANCELLED. DO NOT ANSWER!!! THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!

they have called me a couple of times, and it can't be because I have not paid my bill. It is done automatically with bank draft. I would like to know for certain if it was a scam or not. I have seen other site that says the ones leaving messages about it being legit are in on scam.

No reasson to call! just want to aggrivate yor.

I keep getting a call from this number too. I always just miss it so I havent been able to answer it. When I call back I get routed to Verizon and the poor customer service guy has no idea about why Verizon would call me because there is nothing wrong with my account. He had never heard of this 813 number and said if Verizon called it would show up as a 1-800 number.
Sounds like a scam to me.

It's Verizon. When my contract ended, they constantly telemarket me offering stuff to re-sign another contract. There is no upside to the customer in those contracts, so I say no way. But they keep calling anyway. They hate customers that are on a month to month basis.

I also received a call from this number. No message left and since my bill is not past due I assume that want to upgrade my phone. I'm not under contract right now.

Missed the call from 813-290-6001.  After reading the posts, called Verizon (611), who reported that they did not know that number, nor did they show any reason that I would have been contacted by customer service.  Blocked the number.

I called verizon.  it is NOT one of their numbers.  those people making posts saying it is verizon calling about a bill are lying.  they are probably part of the scam, watching boards like this to confuse people into thinking it is a legitimate call.  checked my call history, and have received  five (5) calls from this number since 5/23/09. (yeah, i use my phone so seldom my call log on the phone goes back that far.)
This is a SCAM.  It is NOT Verizon.

It is indeed Verizon.  Though I have not been near my phone when the calls arrived, representatives calling from this number have left two messages concerning an issue on my Verizon bill about which I had previously inquired, and notified me that they had emailed me and corrected the problem.

Seeing how the timing of those messages corresponded so well to two company emails and a reduction in my payment amount this month, I'm willing to believe that either this number is legit or it belongs to the worst scammers ever.

I don't answer any unknown calls due to the fact it might be a scam. If it is Verizon they need to leave a callback number if it is important. I just paid my bill on Friday so it is not that.

This is not a scam.  It's the number that calls a Verizon customer's phone when they don't pay their bills on time.  Pay them on time and they'll stop calling you.

This number calls me every so often and when I answer there is never anyone on the other end!

I keep getting calls from these guys. The last time they called (this morning), I answered, which I never did previously, and I told them about what's on this site, that I knew it was a scam. Even if I didn't know what others have said about these guys, I'd have known it was a scam because my phone isn't in my name and I don't pay for it, so their spiel about going over your minutes limit is complete quatsch in my case. They hung up on me. :)

Got a call from this number on my verizon cell phone.  Did not answer

I also rec'd a call from this number. Is this truly a scam? I have not called them back - but again, do not know who it is.

this number called my friend and she thought it was a familiar number so i looked it up for heron whitepages.com. its aperently a landline from tampa florida. then i looked it up in a basic search and this site came up. im glad i found it because i told her about it being a scam.
