This is NOT a Children's Cancer chairity. Calls from 813-373-7718 are from a debt collector associated with Portfolio Recovery. The purpose of the call is to verify your identity because the junk debt they've purchased is so old (out of SOL) it does not have accurate contact info. They've used skip tracing techniques to find what they think is a current contact number and then employ spoofed phone #s and spoofed company/association names to dupe you into confirming you're who they're looking for or the person they're looking for lives there. If they say they want to mail you a donation envelope it's only to confirm your address so they can start mailing threatening demands for payment. "Unavailable 1" and calls pretending to be from the Police Benevolent Assoc are also connected to Portfolio Recovery debt collectors. Block or don't answer, but do not confirm your name, address or even your knowledge of the person they're asking for.

Regarding--813-373-7718 Children's Cancer/Tampa, Fl.

I started receiving calls from this number in 9/13 immediately after having blood work done at Quest Labs.  The calls started again Friday. May 23, once again after blood work done at Quest Labs.

Anyone out there had something similar?  Seems like a coincidence!

Called at 8 AM. Caller ID reads Tampa.

The only companies that the "do not call> list apply to are TELEMARKETERS. The rest can bug the hell out of you.

Collection  agencies and any company (such as a credit card you have) are exempt form the DNC list as are charities.  Only telemarketers are not allowed to call you.

I'll be reporting this to the FBI and our local Sheriff's office... They'd better never call here again. We have nothing for low life's at all. Never had, never will.. They can take their ovomit lovin a$$ somewhere else.

The call said the Children's Cancer Center. I just hung up. The nerve of those people. I'm totally against children with cancer. I don't know why they would think anybody would contribute to children having cancer!

Children's Cancer Recovery  Foundation has an abysmal record for getting any money to anyone but themselves.     In 2010 the State of New Jersey reported they collected in total gross revenue, $9,295,544.  They reported total expenses as  $9,064,686 and net assets as $159,319.    Virtually NOTHING went to any kids with cancer.    Beware of these guys.

Called at 8:30pm on 4/30/14.   The caller ID showed "childrens cance."    I didn't answer as I'm aware many "children's cancer" charities are pretty much total frauds.   I would appear these guys are right up there with the worst.  Since they seem to use this number a lot, I guess I'll block it.    

Received several calls from this number and I never answer because I think its someone trying to get money out of  me.  I don't donate monies over the phone because I have no way of knowing what the money is used for.  I get so sick of these kinds of calls.

Called 10 times since Mar. 28,2014.  No ID just number that called.  Never leave message.  Glad I have caller ID.

Wanted a donation for children's cancer. I had to say I wasn't interested twice and then the caller quit trying to sell me on the idea of a donation.

Caller ID says "Tampa".  Phone rang 4 times and when answer machine kicked in, call hung up.

Called our mid-fl landline at 3.46p 0n 4/17/14.  They left no msg, caller id reads TAMPA.  No communication = scam.

Where did you buy your call blocker. I have it with my phone service, but it only allows for 20 calls to be blocked at a time.

9th Call - getting sick of them. 3 pages of complaints on 800Notes. Sometimes 3 calls in one week - these people calling are the cancer. 4 pages of complaints on 800notes. They are a nuisance.

Apparently this company uses this same phone for other alias names for charities.  We have no idea who this REALLY is.  This caller however, does not sound like a legit non-profit.  Probably a scam.

I Blacklisted this caller.

We just had a call from the phone #1-813-373-7718, asking for a certain person who was not available at the time. The lady stated "Well then this is for you as well", thinking I was the other person whom the phone is under, I am not. Then without taking a breath the person calling goes off in their spiel....
I said "Excuse me how do you know I am this person, I am not"
Then she got upset because how dare I tell her I am not the person that she was asking for.
So without another word she hung up.

This might be a great charity.  The charity should use another agency who handles their telemarketing &/or communications division.  They represent this charity and the people making the calls have no professionalism or basic manners.

Hanging up shows us you don't really care about charity you are trying to raise money for.

Blocked and put down as a nuisance caller instead of a children's charity, that is sad but we don't deal with callers who hang up on us AFTER we were called.

I've recieved several calls from this number. It usually just rings and when I answer they hang up. Or it rings a few times and stops. But yesterday my daughter answered and she said a female asked for me by name. Before I could reach the phone, my daughter said she just hung up. When I did the reverse lookup, and called the number, it asked for an access code and didnt seem to complete the call.

I do believe that if you have your number listed in the do not call registry, they can not call without breaking the law. There has been a few people interviewed in the past who have successfully sued in small claims court. Or something to that effect. And won immediate settlement of at least a few hundred dollars.

But some states seem to have general laws against harrassment calls such as this. Mostly regarding collection call I suppose. Last time I researched, it was something like 1000.00 per offense.

Most people just dont persue it. These people count on that. No doubt.
