Got a call from this number, but no one responded to my "hello" although I could hear chatter in the background.  Called back and number is disconnected.  Suspect it was one of those pharmacy calls trying to tell me how to save money on my prescriptions.  I have gotten calls from the online pharmacies in the past and I have warned them that I will report them if I get anymore calls from them.  I don't have any prescriptions, so why would I need to save money on one?

I can confirm that it's a pharmacy.  Sad that they're spoofing it now.

I used to get these typr of calls all the time from a company out of India. I finally got them to give me the name of their company. I told them I was calling the FBI and filing a federal harassment charge against their CEO. I supplied this information to the FBI and the calls stopped.

Telemarketer
Same here - two calls to my cell phone from this number.  A man with an Indian accent asked for me by first name, then said he was from "Healthcare Pharmacy."  I've filed complaints against this company in the past - after the last rash of calls I had about 6 months of peace before they started up again.  I've never bought anything from them by internet or phone.  Each time I've asked them to remove my name and number from their list.

I received two calls from this number today. I missed the first, but answered the second. When I answered, a man with an Indian accent asked for me by name, then identified himself as "Jack" from Healthcare Services. He asked if I wanted to buy prescription drugs. I said "No." He hung up. I've never bought drugs over the internet or phone or from anywhere in Florida. I don't know how they got my number or name. I assume the call was a scam attempting to get my credit card number.

Telemarketer
I was called today (Feb 19, 2010) from this number. It came in to my cell. The gentleman, after my two hellos and another few seconds of silence (always a huge tip-off in identifying telemarketers), asked to speak with me by name. The man had an Indian/British accent.  I told him that "he [meaning me] is not here right now". He just hung up (typical: not just rude in the intrusion but rude to just hang up and not say at least ?Thank you?).
I usually don't answer calls from unknown numbers. There are exceptions ? like if I am expecting some business call or just ordered something online. I just happened to be curious and pick it up today (as I know no one in an 813 area code).

The Bottom Line: make sure the call is from a legitimate area code and number. This number, 813-672-8499, at least can be identified and traced. Having a verifiable number increases your chances for some recourse in finding out who is calling you should they persist.

Some further examples. A more suspect number would be 505-179-3333. Here we have a legit New Mexico area code but numbers in the U.S. traditionally never start with "1" and the four 3's has the smell of a commercial "trunk" line all over it. Here is an even less kosher/more suspect number: 771-222-1212. Here we have an area code that does not exist according to the North American Numbering Plan Administration. Also, the number is way too perfect--only someone shelling out big bucks to the phone company gets assigned those choice numbers, and most often they blocked (but not hidden) to the average caller.

The most important rule: NEVER answer to "blocked" or "unknown caller" calls i.e. any number which is hidden or not identifiable. Even if it?s my mother, and I love her dearly, she has going to have to get an unblocked number if she ever wants to speak to me on my cell phone.

This number, 813-672-8499, my gut (and I can?t really explain why) tells me it is a telemarketer of drugs (Viagra, Valium etc.) from some overseas pharmacy. For the aforementioned reasons, I can give you 20 to 1 odds, it?s a telemarketing concern of some sort. At least you have forewarning when you hear the long delay and wait for the person to reply to your hello's.

Yes, seriously, it is likely an online pharmacy hoping to sell their goods. I made the mistake of buying diet pills from them over four years ago! Haven't purchased a thing from them since and no matter how many times I ask to be removed from their list, they call me daily. I just stopped answering the phone when their number comes up.

so is this cvs calling to say my prescription is ready or is it some online pharmacy trying to get me to buy 600 xanax or something? i knew a guy who lived down the street from me in college -- literally like 5, maybe even 6 years ago -- that used to do that, and i would sometimes let him use my phone bc his was always getting disconnected. could they seriously still be trying to get in touch w/ me now? (i don't know why he would need my # to do it anyway though since he used to order online??) i don't answer numbers from weird area codes, and they did not leave a message, so i do not know.

Yeah it goes to a lady in Riverview/Tampa, Florida. It must be some girl calling your phone using a spoof caller I.D. so your girlfriend won't know who it is. You should just own up to it instead of posting crap about a number to make your argument seem legit to her.
