This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

"This Department of Investigation phone number does not accept incoming calls"....but they'll call you over and over asking for someone else and hang up during your reply.

Tell them that you are reporting them to the police and to your state's Attorney General. (And DO report them to your local police and state Attorney General - what they're doing is illegal and they know it).

Also, tell them their call is being recorded (if you can record the call, great. But tell them you're recording even if you aren't). This will often stop them in their tracks because they know what they're doing is illegal.

I got calls from this too and freaked me out said they were coming to my work how do I handle this? Any help would be appreciated

They've been calling my family all day and finally they got my number ... I said "go f*** yourself Kevin and hung up" he keeps calling, I answer put it on mute and speak lol he's getting so pissed

Follow up: tried to call 817-916-8191 back, recording said this # does not accept, only places calls. Mr. Harrison called me back today asking if I called the 866 prefix # he provided. I said no, said I would deal with him since I was on the line with him now. Asked why his # did not accept calls - he said bcoz he would be bombarded with calls and didn't want that. I told him I was the same way - to stop calling, ha! He go snippy and began to threaten me with being served. Said he was doing me a favor and than he was on his way down - just needed my home addy. Told him is he was so damn good at his job - he'd already have it. I told him I knew this was a scam - no process server calls ahead of time to let you know they are coming, and no reputable company has a phone that doesn't accept calls. Mr. Harrison was clearly angry and said he was on his way - I told him great, pick up some beer! Pretty sure I won't be seeing him anytime soon.

Employer received a call asking for protocol to serve me papers. Then called me and left a message saying his name was Kevin Harrison and his office had rec'd a claim against me. Said I needed to contact the firm handling my case - gave me 866-268-6556. Immediate red flag - any firm with the prefix 866 has to be bogus. Also would not leave the name of the firm. Idk - sounds like a scam to me.

Received call from gentleman, asked for HR about a personal matter about an employee.  The message they left was threatening that they were going to come to our work and so on.  My Boss called them back and let them know that it was against the law to call a person place of business. They gave my boss grief, that they could do that. We will be filing a compliant with the Attorney General.

Recieved call from this number  today. Wierd, my phone did not ring but a message was left. It was a woman  threatning me with a filed claim and charges pressed against me, only she used my brother's name, not mine. Said i had one chance?? And to call 8662687032. I did, after hours, some company in pacific time???  I looked up that number..many people posted  simaliar  stories..they try to scare you and steal ur identity..u will ignore  for now and see if they call again.

They just left a message on my answering machine for my FIL, he hasn't lived with us for years.  But, said he had charges & a claim against him.  Said, his name was Ray Gordon but never did once mentioned the name of the firm.  But left a phone number 866-802-5609, yahoo search shows it belongs to Acquisition Technologies.

They have made several threarning phone calks

caller asked if there was a claudia ramirez here and wanted to speak with them about their order...   weird
