In regards to Cedar Financial; they may have some pretty legit and professional looking websites but they are far from professional. They have been told time and time again to stop calling my grand daughter's cell phone that they have the wrong number. They continue to call and get rude as if WE are in the wrong when they have the WRONG NUMBER. I use to work for a collection agency and the things they are doing are against FDCPA regulations!! It is against the law to threaten anyone about their debt; to continually call a number that is not the debtors; and to make fraudulent statements in regards to the debt or amount owed. They divulged personal information to me about the person they were looking for..... considering they have no problem breaking the laws.... then yes I would classify them as SCAMS.......... and those stating they helped them, hilarious!! We all know that these types of posts are from workers of the company trying to boast their legitimacy.

I just got a call myself from this number too, then guy didn't say his name but he said he is from Walden University and that I better pay my bill I have with them if I don't want to go to jail and sit there for a very long time.

DO NOT GIVE PERSONAL INFO! ask them to mail you a current statement. If they say they already have, tell them you never received it and to send one now or cease calling.
Any collection agency will send correspondence. They've been harassing us forever and we Di not owe any money, have no collections on our credit report. I too, wrote them a letter asking for the bill I. Detail and they never responded. We have a phone that will block certain numbers on the phone itself (not through the phone company) and I have added them to my "blocked" list.

Got a call from this number and she was asking personal information without even telling who they are. When I pushed them to answer first who they are before I answer any of the questions, she hanged up...
Its definitely a scam...

When I received a call from them, they actually helped me save money for one of my creditors and avoided a negative remark from hitting my credit report. Collection agencies will always be under negative light, but they were very helpful with getting my matter resolved.

I got a call from them too, they sounded like they wanted to get other private information about my other bank accounts and loans for a car. Then they demanded that I send them money or else they are going to break into the house. I am just fed up and will hire a detective.

Got a call from this number and said he needs to discuss a concern brought to his office. I don't know and never dealt with this person named Raul Martinez. It's really irritating. He didn't say what company he's from...weird! Nowadays, you can't help but be cautious of scams. I googled the number and it looks like a collection agency. I've never been delinquent with any payments; I think this is a SCAM! You need to investigate this Raul and his company!

These people have been calling us too. I picked up once and the guy was looking for my sister, saying his firm was collecting on some parking tickets she got during a trip to Europe a few years ago! Well, good luck to him. My sister works crazy hours and is away on business for weeks at a time.

I'm sure this isn't a scam as they knew about a real account I have, but obviously no one wants to get calls from a collection agency.

Cedar Financial does not comply with Fair Debt Collection practices according to US and State of Ca Statutes. We received a letter from them with no details, no info about originating creditor, just a demand for $4000. We wrote back within the 30 day limit asking for this info, no reply. They must give this info in writing or cease their collection action. Daily phone calls from them began, we did not respond, no point, the caller sounded inebriated on our answering machine. Sent letter #2, no reply. Now, Cedar has posted this "debt" on our credit reports. All of our creditors are paid on time or paid off, excellent credit. We have no idea where this "debt" is coming from. Now we will hire an attorney to clear it up, since Cedar does not respond to us. If you go to their Website, you will be shown a very professional jazzy site. Doesn't fit the reality at all. They do not obey the law.

Cedar Financial is currently trying to collect a debt from me. I am 99% positive it's not a scam--like Kathy above, a creditor referred my case to them. But while they may be legit, that guy Jake from Cedar Financial is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. He's been fired or has quit since August, but it was like the company hired a d-bag from Budweiser commercial. Not cool and doesn't inspire confidence.

I do not agree that Cedar Financial is a fraudulent company. Actually my outstanding balance with one of my creditor's was reported to the credit bureaus by them. Once I called and resolved the balance my credit bureau file was updated. A fraudulent company would not have such capabilities. I think you should double check your records.

Received a voice mail on 6.30.09 on my work phone number to call Joshua at Cedar Financial immediately at 818-224-3357, ext. 737, re Case #83829 that's been filed in his office. I called and they asked me if I knew a person named Jay or Jake Thompson, and this person had mentioned my name in some application. I said no, and they said then please disregard this call. They also said they had already spoken to my daughter as well. I confirmed with my daughter that she received the call as well. Thinking back, the two men I spoke to on the phone sounded young and not very professional.

Selena,
This number belongs to a collections agency who scams people. They make up a bogus creditor's name and they send letters to people they can target. On the letter it says that the addressee owes money to a creditor. They'll also bug you with phone calls. Don't answer their phone calls; they're a hoax...another scheme to scam people...they're after your money and credit cards!!! I don't know how they get the addresses and phone numbers but they can also be bought from a third party. The letter I got didn't even have a correct address. Rule of thumb, normally if you forget to pay a creditor, they normally call and write you a number of times before they report you to the credit card bureau...but they don't report you to a collections agency! In my case, I didn't get any phone calls nor letters from the so-called creditor that this agency listed on the letter. Why? It's because the creditor is bogus or it's not even a creditor!!! BEWARE!!! I'll post the name of the collections agency as soon as I get it. But the person name is the same one that screenname "Quiet" mentioned, Raul Martinez.
Sincerely,
Appalled
