The person emailing you is a scammer.  You can forward the email to the FBI at their Internet Crime Complaint Center - www.ic3.gov - and otherwise, delete the emails.  This person cannot "take action" - of any kind.

Since they have your SSN, you should definitely look at purchasing identity theft protection.  Contact at least one of the credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax, TransUnion - as well as your financial institutions - and ask them to place fraud alerts on your accounts.

I got a very long email from Todd Jefferson and I emailed him back and without going into alot of details. I called him out as being a scammer, if he is a legit person he would send the info to me in the mail, so I know he is the real deal and if he isn't the real deal I was going to report him to the Better Business Bureau and that I do not like to be threatened with garnishments as I don't make enough to live on, and do not threaten me with this load of bull.

This is a scam.  When you get these emails forward them to the Internet Crimes division.  Reply back to the email and tell them you have sent this to FBI and you will not pay scammers.

Received same email and because I had taken out payday loans in the past ( but paid them off) I was concerned that I missed paying one. I should have googled first-cus I called and got a whole lot of BS. They wanted me to pay a "debt" immediately via Green Dot Money Pack for a 'loan' taken out years ago. Got angry when I asked for documentation and proof and asked questions. After I hung up they sent more emails and called repeatedly to my cell, threatening legal action. Total scam. I plan to report tomorrow to the appropriate agencies. I am sure there are people out there falling for this and it makes me sick that people could be so predatory and dishonest.

I too got an email from Todd Jefferson claiming they are going to take further action if we don't pay.
I did call and talked to "Todd" who by the way is Indian. He hung up on me twice as I told him I called my lawyer and he has requested the name, date and amount. He told me " I don't have time. Have him call me." I don't have a lawyer. What would you do?

I just has a call from this people. I seriously try to talk to them but the were getting mad because I asked to many questions. He then became really aggressive demanding money or they were going to charge me with legal manners and sending me to court. Any advise to stop these harassment.

I got an email from Todd Jefferson telling me that I owed Cash Advance Inc. Company a sum of money and they would garnish my wages, etc. in order to collect.  I know it's a scam, I can tell by the grammar that was used.  But my concern is that they have my Social Security Number, and they also knew who my employer was.  What do I do to make sure that they do not use my SSN.

I got an email from Todd Jefferson this morning. My sister works for a county courthouse and has told me if you were going to be served with legal action no one is going to be nice enough to warn you, it will just happen. Additionally the email itself is all bad grammar and poor language. I am in the mood to give him hell but frankly don't have the time. I at least wanted to warn of the email scam as well.

Per your original post, even if someone has taken out a loan in your name, in the US, victims of identity theft are not liable for debts incurred in their name.

Never send money to someone you don't know.   Green card transactions are untraceable.

Ignore their calls.

They are most likely Indian scammer/extortionists.

Threatened phone calls of legal action, as a court case has been filed against me; I've been asked to settle the matter by sending money via a Green Dot Money Pack Card.

Your info. was harvested from the 'net. You have probably filled out an application for a loan, a drawing etc. An e-mail is completely meaningless in the U.S. Some countries have begun considering an e-mail as legitimate. Not in the U.S.
Contact your county clerk of court. The people there will be more than happy to tell you if anything involving you has been filed. I can assure you, nothing has.
Your caller is a fraud. Probably Indian. They are beneath contempt. Did your caller have an accent? If he, or she, did I can guarantee you that the caller was an absolute scammer.
A lot of us here are able to toy with the Indian vermin. I do it all the time. We actually go out of our way to invite their attentions. I don't recommend it though. They can be troublesome, especially at a work-place. They're like lice. Even if you know what the problem is, they can be tiresome & hard to get rid of.
One sure way to be rid of an Indian fraud is to have a woman that will not back down. If a woman is able to take on an Indian fraud, that Indian fraud will not call again. An Indian fraud, if male, has an over whelming desire to dominate a female. They consider a female to be an easier target. When confronted with a woman that can give it out as well as he does, the scrawny little guy will go in to convulsions of vulgar speech, start twitching & will pee all over himself. I have two women in my office that absolutely cherish the thought of a Indian or Pakistani calling. The girls are getting a little frustrated though. The calls just aren't coming in like they used to. The Indian frauds aren't very bright. But, they do learn. When a woman can absolutely humiliate an Indian fraud, I guess the word gets around. Even in a pitiful, over-populated area like the Gujarat province of India.
The foreign frauds can be a serious pest. They hope to humiliate you. Particularly at your work place. If your boss has a sense of humor, (like I do) he'll understand. If he doesn't, let him know that your termination through no fault of your own is a bad idea. Actually, it's a really, really bad idea.
If you have any more questions, come back here. There is a very experienced bunch of regulars here that love to help.
Live Well.

I got a call from a "Todd Jefferson" concerning a online loan that was taken out by some devious person in my name; My social security number was used and also my banking information.

I've been E-mailed papers of court proceedings & case I.D. number.

I'm needing to find out more information on who these people are, and how such a thing can happen.

Can anybody shade some light on these kinds of activities?

Much Thanks
