Wed, Jan 29, 2014, received a voice mail from Anthony Barrone, calling about a criminal complaint on a civil warrant. (Those are two separate things). I called back from my land line office phone, got a different dude who said Anthony is out on patrol (to make me think he's a cop?). I asked what the call was in reference to. The second dude was rude and abrupt, asked if I knew a Derrick, mumble mumble. Don't know a Derrick, asked what number he dialed, he noted a wrong number from mine with two numbers transposed. I am tense by now, pointed out I don't know Derrick and that's not even my number. He got tense too, said hold on, put me on hold with music. I waited about 3 seconds, hung up. Called him back and he answered the phone by bellowing "WE TOOK YOU OFF THE LIST!." I bellowed back, "you could have said so" and hung up. Won't fall for that again...

I've been a getting calls from this guy since December 3rd.  He's threatened me with arrest warrants, criminal charges, he initially left messages that he was a process server trying to serve me, even though I'm not actually the person they are looking for.  He gets really mad and hangs up in your ear when you tell him that you've reported him to the states attorney's office :).

I received a phone call looking for me but using my maiden name from 25 years ago, and they also called my husband first and asked him questions before they called me. My husband gave them my real middle name and then they tried to get my social security number out of me when they called me.  I called the Attorney Generals office and complained.  They then told me to google this number and I find this forum of comments.  Attorney General office just told me to not answer the phone anymore if you don't recognize the number.  I didn't answer but their message made me nervous since they used my actual name and check fraud, the message led me to believe that someone had stole my identity.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Got a phone call to my residence from a Tom Decarlo asking for the persons name ( my mother ) who doesn't live with me nor has she ever.  So how on earth did this Tom get "MY" home phone number.  He left a message that said there was a criminal complaint dealing with check fraud and that the person needs to voluntarily call him back!!!  First off the phone call came from a blocked number, but Tom said he could be reached at 844-458-0303 ext. 320.  I will not be calling this number back, it sounds like it is extremely BOGUS to me.

Man called, he said he was an investigator and threatened a warrant.  When I told him I did not know the name he was askin for, he said I could be an accessory to fraud charges.   I looked up the company " Global Check Processing ".  The BBB rated them an "F ".   They are a collection company that threatens people.  Even the wrong people !!!

I got a call from Anthony Perone at 844 458-0303. I didn't answer the call since I didn't recognize the #. He left a message about a criminal complaint and that I should call him to clear it up. I called back and said that I got a call from this number and wanted to know what it was about. He said he was trying to find a gentlemen that I used to work with. Unfortunately the fellow has been deceased for over 2 years. When I informed him he said, "oh jeez, ok" and promptly hung up. Definitely a debt collector as I've had several of these calls over the past couple years. Apparently my former coworker used my name and/or number as a reference and they are trying to find him through me.

Left a message on the phone about a criminal complaint.  He is an idiot.  He doesn't even give the name of the person he wants to speak to.  Just a threatening message to make you call.  I am not returning a call to a low life like him who can't even give the name of the person who they are leaving the message for.  I have gotten other calls from idiots like him who do not even mail you anything on what they supposedly have on you so you can claim fraud or get with a lawyer.  They all assume you are guilty and you are the one getting the message. The losers are all around us.  I hope he loves his job because I have no respect for a person like him.

got a recorded message saying the guy was anthony barrone? and to call back at this number, about a criminal complaint. I have NO idea who or what it was about. I do know that when called back a rude guy answered  I told him that I had gotten a call from this number, he said OK, what is your name. I said  "I don't feel comfortable giving my name since I don't know what this is about and it said something about a criminal complaint." He then hung up on me.
