Paul Anthony Dobbins called a number where the person does not work or live.  When asked him not to call the number, he stated he would call until the person contacted him.  Pretended he was a federal attorney.  I have contacted Attorney Generals Office about this scam and harassment.  

May God forgive this man for his mouth.  It is used for lying and shows no glorification for God.  Proverbs says that the mouth has the ability to condemn us to hell.  You sir have been warned.

when these FOOLS call you ask for full validation per FDCPA 1692g sec. 809(b) not verification like they always send you and claim that's validation.
ask for there license to see if they are allowed to collect in your state,no license you don't have to pay them and if they say where a law firm we don't need a license that is a complete lie.
check the SOL on the debt,if the SOL has passed you don't have to pay them,they cant sue or log on to your credit report.
if they cant validate the debt the debt is invalid and the law is on your side 100%

Collectors can legally ignore verbal requests. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested, pronto. The clock is running against you. You can also sue Anthony/Katz for breaking 809(a) of the FDCPA.

Yup i called around and they said they handed it off to katz law firm which is where paul anthony is calling from, so what should i do, i clearly owe money and i am willing to pay but i just dont understand how can this be, that they cant send me debt verification that i owe the amount, i wrote to BBB the general attorney office still have yet to recieve a clear answer on weather or not i should pay them or not, if the debt was passed on to them, guess that means they are legit right? or wrong? ughh i dont know enlighten me somebody

It's admirable that you want to pay your debt but you must be careful to pay the rightful creditor. Paying a scammer would be useless, wouldn't it? "how am I suppose to verify?" legit debt collector *CANNOT* refuse to send you the FDCPA validation paperwork, the FDCPA says it is the responsibility of the collector to send the paperwork, debtors do not have to ask for it and collectors *MUST* send it. A legit collector should have your paperwork, a scammer would not (this is one of the key differences between legit collector and scammer). The fact that he refuses to send validation paperwork tells me he is a scammer. Do not cave in to intimidation. That guy Paul Anthony called me just now telling me now that I have to pay $463 because I had the chance yesterday to pay the $330 and he started yelling at me telling me he doesn't want to talk to me abo anything because I have no intent of paying it, of course I'm not going to pay a ridiculous amount I told him him I wanted to work something out and he totally refused anything but the $463 ughh I'm so stressed out and pissed I don't know what to do. So frustrating he talked on top of me the whole time and threaten to get money from me either way and that he's going to add more charges on top, he refused to send me any statements so how am I suppose to verify? This is so unfair somebody help me!

I called back this morning repeatly to try to at least like you said get a statement and try to resolve the issue but no answer, don't know what should I do at this point. I went to the bbb filed a complaint and with FTC I don't know how far that will get me but hope to god I don't really get sued over $75

Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.
Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint.

I just received a call today from this Paul Anthony and boy is he RUDE, I do owe $75 because the check was for 45 and the fee of 30 and he told me today it's was be $330 which is ridiculous.. So he demanded I settle before 5pm or else they will sue me for 2,000 I don't know what to do believe or do now that I'm reading all this.. Can't I just pay the original 75?

yeah, def debt collectors...bounced a check, they called me, trying to make me pay WAY more than the check, b4 you pay, check out arizona statutes - bounced checks, can only make you pay $25 fee + the cost incurred from their financial institution for the bounced check...my check was for $60, he tried to say I had to pay $360! what a joke!  research state law before you pay, goodle arizona statutes and then look for the one that fits the bill
