Same here.  Then I called my own bank n they told me there's nothing suspicious on any of my accounts.  Also, my own bank doesnt even have my new mobile number. So how is it possible for this so called barclays to have it.  I have no connection to barclays and my own bank confirmed this.

I've just been phoned by 0845 351 2259 which IS Barclaycard Fraud Prevention and IS legitimate. I called their main fraud prevention number on their website (0844 822 2405) and they confirmed that they had called me on the same date & time, and proceeded to identify my card as having been compromised (despite being locked in a drawer and not used for months) where someone had tried to use it to spend £130 on a gambling website. They cancelled the card and sent me a new one, well done Barclaycard.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

Its an ok number. + 084, or + 84
After ignoring several calls from this number I answered and heard electronic voice saying its Barclaycard. I hung up. I thought it was a Vienam number.
I checked with Barclaycard direct and they say its their free phone number. They checked a couple of payments with me- and found one where I had bought flights in Euros and the travel company  had charged me British pounds. Trying to call the company now- keep hanging on and get passed operators and have given up for the moment til later. .

I've been getting multiple calls from +8453512259 on both my land line number and mobile phone. It's a supposed pre-recorded message from Barclaycard stating that it is makig you aware of fraudulent activity, but always hang up before I can hear the full message.
I'm pretty sure that it is some kind of scam as Barclaycard would send you a letter or an operator would call you directly.
Has anyone else received a call from this number?

I had the same this morning. I went to the Barclaycard website but couldn't find the number they asked me to call. I rang the usual support number and eventually got through to the fraud department. The call was genuine - they were querying two small Amazon purchases. Why I don't know as I frequently buy from Amazon.

Suggest you ring BC and speak to the fraud department. Until you do you may find your card blocked

It's legit.

Rang back on +44845... and it worked fine. Good service, as the confirmation of my transactions took only 3 minutes. No waiting, no pigeon English. Result.

This is genuine, I checked the barclaycard fraud website and it confirms the process. I called, they read out my last 5 tx and asked me to confirm that I agreed. They did not request any personal info.

Highly unlikely to be a scam. But, they should really revise the way in which the number shows on inbound from +845 to 0845. However, they do state in the voicemail that you dial 0845.

I called Barclaycard customer services rather than return this call just in case. Turns out to be genuine.
BUT
It is misleading using an automated call to check possible fraud... I have just wasted best part of an hour going the secure route... I wish they would use people to do this stuff.

I was a morgan stanley dean witter cardholder and since it got taken over by barclaycard, they've screwed up on the data migration of the customers acquired onto their barclaycard systems.

What i would do now is log every incident and make written compliants to their customer services.

The first time i got £20 compensation, but no remedy to the problem.

The next compliant they told me to esculate this to the Financial Onboardsman. FAQ, I know that for every compliant application raised, this will cost barclaycard £500.

If the idiots from barclaycard fixed the problem which i have told them at the beginning, then i will not get these silly calls or texts to say i have been issueed a replacement credit card, pin number or the fraud check automated call.

Just had a call now and out it down straight away. I have emailed the Customer Services to check on it.

It's silly to phone this number back and check...of course they will say it's legit, wouldn't they? Phone the number on your card or on the website.

In my experience, a human phones if there is a problem

I just checked the number - +845**** doesn't register, however if you swap the + for a 0 then it does. However, numbers should come up with 0 at the front if ther are being made from the UK...........I'm not sure that  is a genuine number.

I had a call from this number this morning. I have only just activated my Barclaycard, and used it for a payment. Watchdog reported last week that numbers for banks could be cloned and used to call&txt customers so that they give out their bank details over the phone i.e security passwords, security No. from back of card etc. They look like legit numbers from banks which is why people trust them. If in doubt, speak to Barclaycard direct from their website via chat or call another number to check.

Event Reminder
Got a call from them this morning on +8453512259. They called my mobile twice from that number (at 8:15 on a Saturday morning - not a very sociable time to call!), but then they called my home. The ID on my home phone came up as 08453512259. It?s completely legit, just the mobile networks don?t seem to be passing on the ID correctly. It?s not +845, it should be 0845. Try calling 08453512259 ? you?ll get through to them. And if they?re calling you and you don?t have a card, call them back!
