They called and scam me out of 328 dollars

Got a call from Sheps & Assoc. in New York and this is a scam. They had an old bank account check that said "Insufficient funds" and wanted me to pay them. When I called the party who I owed the money to, I owed nothing. They only wanted my money - again - this is a SCAM. Don't give them any money!!

Shills from Sheps have been posting racist and anti-Obama jokes (dozens of them) in this thread. They have been removed by admins.

So when do you plan to send your demand to the collection firm? Griping here and waiting for a rescue isn't stopping their calls.
Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

The number belongs to Sheps & Associates, a "creditors rights law firm."
