We have ATM card customers reporting receiving this text as well. Clearly a phishing attack.
Credit Union VP-Marketing 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown
Have any credit union employees created a fraud alert message for membership yet??? Would love to see a sample...
John 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown
Received text telling me my Credit Union Debit Card was locked and giving me a number to call. I called the number and got an automated voice directing me to enter my 16 digit debit card number. Clearly a scam - tried to enter a fake number to see what else it would ask for but there must be a format to the number because it recognized it as invalid.
Eric 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown
Just received this on cell phone! We don't have an ATM debit card through the institution it claims.
Amanda 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown
Received a text from saying Access was limited. Call to reactivate.
Mike 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown

George 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown

My husband received the same message last night. Luckily, I work in a bank & knew it was a scam...but we also live in Cincinnati...so why would we have a debit card through New York?? Stupid scammers!!!!
JLouisP 2011-06-06 21:00:14 Unknown
got a text at 6:28 last night about "my" locked credit union debit card and to call 8457659464 to reactivate. Not a member of a credit union, never have, probably never will.

this number is being sent out, using our cu name. we will never text message, send an email with this type of request. we only send INFORMATIVE emails. we, nor any other financail institution, would ever text/email requesting you give them your account number, pin number, or cvv number on the backs of your cards. always notify your institution of receiving the text/email so that they can institute measures to have the phone numbers "taken down" or the fake websites removed from the internet.

Received a test last night at 6:56 pm. CU/FCU-Has Deactivated your debit card. Call security department: 845-765-9464...
What a load of crap.
Christine 2009-10-01 14:03:47 Unknown
"your credit union debit card has been locked. Call 845-765-9464 to reactivate" It's bothering me that everyone is getting this message from messaging.nextel.com - did someone hack into their systesms and now has my personal info.
G 2009-10-01 13:16:29 Unknown
Got the text last night saying my credit union debit card was locked. On a whim I called the number which electronically asked me to give my account number, yeah right!
How do I make a formal complaint?
NYC Researcher 2009-10-01 12:47:31 Unknown
Same message: "Your Credit Union DebitCard has been locked. Call (845) 765-9464 to Reactivate." But seeing as how this is a government health department research study cell phone, there's certainly no debit card attached to it.

Just got the same message as everyone else. Mine was from jjodyy@nextel.com. Telling me to call security department. Hope my grandma doesn't get this...
ADMIN@NYTEAMFCU 2009-10-01 00:43:39 Unknown
I am from a credit union in the 516 718 area code, we have received several calls from members some did call and enter there card data some did not, is the common denominator here NEXTEL ????
we now have to find any and all members that entered there data at the number so we can block and reissue there card.

Just spoke to Nextel technical services. They claim they don't have the capability to track the originator of these text messages. Anyone with a computer can can send an sms message to your cell phone simply by typing your cell number then @messaging.nextel.com I do it on a regular basis, but it registers as coming from my email account. Sorry, people, seems there is no way to stop obnoxious morons like this one who set up a bogus email account and send mass spam sms messages

Scammers 2009-09-30 23:41:46 Unknown
Isn't there something we can do about these things!!!!
We need to call in Skooter to get to the bottom of this!
ticked off 2009-09-30 23:39:02 Unknown
Same text messaging through nextel...I'm assuming everyone else has nextel as well? This message was obviously sent as a shotgun email from a computer. Nextel should be able to track the ip address of the computer it was sent from... No idea why they want us to call a number in downstate new york...definitely a scam
lang 2009-09-30 23:30:07 Unknown
same thing here, with a red exclamation point
bunny 2009-09-30 23:26:44 Unknown

My wife and I both received this same message, with this same number, from "notice9311@messaging.nextel.com".
kumpy 2009-09-30 23:19:50 Unknown
I just got the same text message on my Nextel about 7:10 PM 9/30/09. My credit union would never text me, let alone at this time of day...
Postbox420 2009-09-30 23:19:05 Unknown
I got it too. How do they get our numbers? Should i report it to my provider?
pistatthis 2009-09-30 23:17:18 Unknown
Got the same text as everyone else...I mean, wtf, if it was real, which it isn't, wouldn't you think that the person writing the text message would at least know how to spell words they are writing in the text. The person it came was fozsmh@nextel.com Are you kidding me, nextel. Dont be stupid and fall for it...
