Having worked for a collection agency I know that they are bound by federal law not to release certain information unless they are 100% sure that you are the person they are looking for. A lot of the times they do have the wrong number and there is no crime in that. People change there number all the time. We had people monitoring our calls all the time and if we said the wrong thing or revealed information we got fired.

Continuous  calls...no message left.  But  a nuisance.

called me at work. Don't know how they got my number. They left a voice mess from caller id #845-913-7405 Gloria Walsh - Collections Bureau Hudson Valley attempt to collect a dept to call her at 888-913-7449. Who or what are they collecting for? I hate when people call but don't tell what they are calling for. I do not like when people call me at work a place of business.

I got tired of these people calling so I connected my phone line to the fax modem on a spare computer. Then I installed a wonderful program called Phone Tray. This program Lets me blacklist all these creeps and log all calls. With the blacklisted calls the phone rings one time then hangs up. So my new motto is "One ring, don't do a thing". Yea!

They call almost everyday and I'm now tracking down the address so one more call and I'm going to have to make a personal visit.

This number called me on my private cell phone which i did not biveo ut to anyone. posible they had the wrong number, the person i talked with said it was regaurding a person name benjamin ajdourno or somethin.  Some caller first tried calling my home number, but my home phone is currently static and has a malfunction. It rungs, and when i pick up the phone its all static. I said if anyone is ther, not knowing if they could hear me, told them to call my cell, Shortly after the number came up. not knowing the number I ignored it. But it never left a voice mail. So i called the number back, and a collections agencey type computer answered then transferred me to a real person. We discussed who I was, and If i knew a person regarding a certain debt or collection. I did nit recognize the name, but they did not give me very much inf on what it was exactly about, or about the dedbt or whatever I may have owed. Afterwords, not acknowledgeing the name they gave me regarding the colection, they said they must have the wrong number.
I am aware of some small collections that i may owe to hospitals and other small things, but nothing major. If there is something major I dont know about, I would like another cal regarding the exact nature of the situation. I am only 24, and currently living with a relative. Please send any info. This call showed up on my caller ID as "CBHV".  It turns out that stands for the Collection Bureau of Hudson Valley.  I noticed other people in this thread saying the caller asked to speak to someone that turned out to be a child.  This was the same in my case sort of (my son is a Jr.).  When I said that the name matched my son's but that he's 17 years old they said no, the person they wanted to speak to was an adult.  When I said they probably wanted his father then and he lives in NY (I live in VA) they said yes, they wanted Sr. and then thanked me and hung up.  I have no idea how they got my phone number since my last name is different (and has been since I got this phone number) and the Sr. has never lived in this state.  I'm totally guessing, but if the parents of other children have child support collection services these calls make come through somehow due to that.  The child support enforcement people DO report to credit bureaus and the like and it's the only link I think of.

What the hell I'm getting calls from this number all the god damn time.  LIKE EVERY OTHER DAY.

They keep calling. I don't know for what and don't care. They leave voicemail but I don't check it. All my debts are paid off and/or up to date so it's b***s*** anyway. I only know who they are due to google. When I notice the number I let my 2 year old answer it. She loves talking on a cell phone.

This number calls me everyday.  They refuse to say who they are or who they want to speak to.  I believe it to be some sort of scam.  They do not know my name when they call me.  I have classified this caller as hostile and harassing. I have reported it to the police and to the caller's phone company and I suggest that you all do the same.

The caller ID says "COLLECTION BURE". Then it asks for someone living here. Then it says that the call is an attempt to collect a debt (the "mini-Miranda"). Then it says to call back regarding a "personal business matter".

It's hard to hide the fact that the caller is a debt collector.

These kinds of calls are on the rise. They may be trolling for children. Hang up and report frequent calls to the police and the Do Not Call List.

they call me 4, 5 times a week. they say its a important bussiness matter. I thing its a collection agency but they call afternoon and weekends too!!!!! Im tyred of this people calling, calling.

I keep getting calls from this number with a recording that it is an important business matter but they do not tell who they are calling for. This happens daily and sometimes several times a day in the afternoon hours and on the weekends. I am tired of getting these calls. I don't know who these folks are or why they think they have the right to constantly call my phone.

Started receiving these calls to my cell# a couple of weeks ago. I have not responded, and blocked the calls. However, although my phone does not ring when they call, they are still able to leave messages. I think this is a new scam to get you to answer them, when you respond, even if they ask for the wrong or right name, that's their way of knowing they have a working number.

They keep calling my cell phone asking for some random name.  I have NO idea who this person is and have told them so, yet they continue to call.  I have told them twice to take my number off the list and they still call.  I will be reporting them.

They call my cell phone.  I went on to verizon website and put them on my list of blocked calls.  You can block these calls for 3 months at a time.  What is so annoying is that the message says "By continuing to listen to this call you acknowledge that you are (name of person they are calling)" so when my voice mail records it they consider it an acknowledgment that I actually am the person who they are calling for!

Block the calls people!!  That will get rid of them.

Also, by law you can inform them NOT TO CALL YOU AT WORK and they must comply.  Tell them you are posting the date and time of that instruction online on one of these websites as documentation.  Otherwise, they will not put a note in your file, then a week or two down the road someone else will call and tell you that the other person did not note it in your records.  (A good friend is a manager at one of these agencies and told me all about these tactics.)

keeps calling with recorded message for someone else.  instructs to hang up if it's not the correct number.  then they call back a week later with same message.

After about 6 calls from these people I decided to call back and tell them off.  The woman who answered the phone didn't give me time to yell, just said they would take my number off the list.  They got alot of nerve doing business this way!

I have a new cell phone and these people call every day looking for the man who had the phone # prior to me. They dont care that I dont know him. They continue to harass. They are being reported.

I saw this company on my credit report and called to get more information from them.  They are collecting for Colorado Technical University, in my case.  I have already paid the school over $5000 for education that I didn't receive, thanks to them eating up student loans.  Now they are saying that I owe them another $4000.  I am disputing this charge.  Now this number has called me 5 times over the last two days....

Is "Collection Bureau of the Hudson Valley" ( http://www.cbhv.com/ ).  They kept calling my house in error.  I called them using contact info from their website and they said they would take my number off their list.  They were very nice.  We'll see if they actually stop.
