Same thing, Marine biologist, car going to son in Malaysia...curious to see what happens next - when money is either requested for the shipping or a shipping container shows up at my house to take my car and nothing has actually been transferred to my paypal account..... I hope this moron reads this forum, understands that they are being tracked and go lives the rest of their sorry life in hiding....

Same story but tried to buy my car for her son in melasia. Different number and got a text from her 'son' saying it was her mom trying to buy it

Exactly the same story (Julian Perkins, Marine Biologist, purchasing for son in Malaysia), but number was different. I came across this website by googling 'Julian Perkins' after I had reported fraud-like behavior to Paypal. Prior to notifying PayPal, I emailed  'Julian' saying we are suspicious and aren't continuing with transaction and have reported it. They proceeded in trying to assure me it was a secure transaction and have a good track record with Paypal and I shouldn't back out as they have given me the money. If you feel that something isn't right, it isn't and don't let these scammers make you doubt your intuition!!
What I've noticed is that all the previous posts are from places in the US and not that recent. I am in New Zealand & this happened to me today!! Can only wish one day, this person is caught.

I got the same message.
I told him I needed the $ 80,000 in cash in small unmarked bills.
What I don't understand, is how he could get anything without paying using paypal, especially something like a boat, that would have to be picked up and trailered. Wouldn't a person wait until the money was in their paypal account before shipping? Isn't the deal done once the money is in you paypal account?
I almost want to find out what he would do next, but I don't want to give him any more information.
Can anyone fill me in on the rest of the scam?

I am really interested in buying it and i want to go ahead with the purchase,i am pleased with the price but i can only conclude the transaction through PayPal for our own protection,PayPal act as a neutral third party. it is safe,secure and reliable.
I insisted on PayPal mode of payment because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking but i can pay from my PayPal account  as i have my bank a/c attached to it and also due to the fact that i am currently offshore and I won't definitely be able to make it to my bank to wires money across to you.It is what safe and convenient for me.

I got a text message from this number, followed by an email from a Julian Perkins. His email is perkjulian@gmail.com. He says his son is in Malaysia and he needs to ship a boat to him from Canada. Offered to pay my full asking price plus shipping as he planned to have the "shipper" come and pick the boat up. Said he transferred the money via PayPal. I use PayPal all the time for business and didn't receive notification of any payment, googled the phone number et voila. Scam busted. Going to notify RCMP now. Hope they catch the b*****d. So he actually got someone's stuff from them? How, I wonder, if payment doesn't clear beforehand?

Regular scam,long distance, sight unseen buyer will take your goods and the money wont clear. Be aware!
