I just got this call, and answered it. No one was on the line

Do NOT press any numbers, as instructed, when you take the call. Pressing a number opens the possibility that you'll be charged for some ridiculous international call. Try to convince your provider that it wasn't made by you. They are, as others have posted, selling crap for "diabetes, back pain or..." whatever ails you. Either don't answer, answer and hang up, answer and listen to the BS (ask the caller where they're calling from and they'll immediately hang up). Or, learn a couple phrases in French, Italian, or Portugese and just start blabbing away.

849 as well as 809 and 829 are area codes in the Dominican Republic. I suggest being very wary of these. I have received these calls from 809 and 849. The same usual crap others experience. No message on machine, 3 ring hang ups, etc. Sometimes a message gets left with an American voice and some sort of offer to entice you to call back. Doing so, for what ever reason, MAY involve your 'phone company being billed at an exorbitant rate per minute which you, as the customer, are obligated to pay. And, that rate could be in the $100s or $1000s per minute. So, it is probably not wise to call them back to demand removal from their list, etc. That could be a "gotcha". In the rare occasion you connect whatever they are pitching is moot. Remember you don't get billed if they have called you. If you have a block feature on your 'phone, most do, just add that number. Mine can only block 20 so when I get a new pest, like this one, I just remove the oldest from my list (the list displays with the oldest first) and add the new one. Works for me. I think this info is accurate, and believe it is, but some of it is summarized from other sources and could be suspect.

Got a call from this number.  Also from 849-963-3222 and 849-963-3223.  They must have a whole bank of robocallers, and if you block one, they just move on to another line for the next annoying call.

Since the call originates outside the USA, maybe that's how the scum behind this hope to circumvent the Do Not Call list.

Hey Tall Mike...just curious...how did you verify you do not have back pain, do not have diabetes over the phone?!?!?!!?

Calls start by 0900 and continue every two hours throughout the day.  My caller ID sometimes gets filed with this unknown species phone #.  This is not acceptable!

Just got a call from this number, I didn't answer it.

I'm in CT.  Rang 3 times, hung up before answering machine came on.

They called 3 times this A.M. Within an hour.  The first time there was a recorded message regarding "if you are on Medicare and have diabetes" and I hung up before it continued.  The next 2 times I just let it ring because I was working  and cannot answer my phone.  I know how to Access Medicare information and definitely would not buy anything over the phone or even through the mail.

call came in at 1:50 PM  Texas time -
" If I am not a senor citizen with back pain - press 2 - I pressed 2 male, hard to understand, wanting to verify that I am not a senor - I cut him off told him I was on the Do Not Call list, please do not call my number again"  and I hung up..

I just got a call from this number. I picked up (knowing it's a spammer) - and the recorded message said "Hello" - and I hung up. I googled this number - from Domenican Republic and it said "Telemarketer". I live in California --- so these low-lifes are spamming the US.

Call from this number indicated 'Name Unavailable'. Never heard of 849 area code; looked it up, comes from Dominican Republic. Phone ran about 4 times. I didn't answer. If I don't recognize a number I don't pick up. All you get is scams, political calls and people wanting your money.

I live in Evansville, In.  I missed the call but I called back because I have a son who just moved to TX and I thought it might be them because I do not have their new number. .  They have a family birthday today.  Thank goodness no one answered.

These folks are totally inconsiderate to say the least.  I live in Massachusetts.  They call leave no message and are just a bunch of scum bags.

Got a call from this number this morning. Caller ID just shows out of area. No idea what it was for or who they are. I do know that I'm not interested in any spanish speaking a***ole. All the "Ringers" on my phones are disabled.  So I never know when a call comes in unless I hear them leaving a message....

Maybe one of these days some bill gates type will invent a phone with a button that creates a feedback that will nuke the callers phone system/computer.

Calls, leaves no message, several times.  Presuming this is another scam outfit.  Stop them!!

I called this number back and message said the number was no longer in service.

I'm getting calls everyday of the week from these types of places and am getting very ticked.  There has to be some kind of resource to take care of this.

Thanks Republicans for getting all these other countries involved by outsourcing the jobs that used to be done in the US and got them to start making these types of calls.

A scam of course with tthat pre-fix. Don't deal with these people and nver press a number on your keypad they tell ypu to do unless you know for certain who your talking to. Could transfer you to that oversaea long distant number you'll be charged for.

Telmarketer, but likely to be a Medicare/Medicaid scam. Started with a recorded message which is against the law. Asked if I needed medical equipment for my aches and pains. Won't not provide information, got rude, and hung up.
I reported the call as I do with all of them to the FTC at 888-382-1222. When the scammers use a recorded message you don't even have to be on the the Do-Not-Call list to report them. Some say the DNC does not work, but every junk call I have reported stops not long after I do. Some take reporting 2-3 times if they keep calling, but then they go away also. We get less than one junk call a month now. Wonderful! ::-)

Caller ID had "D Rebublic Call".  Left no message on the machine.
