The only recourse, I've found, is to report the number to the FTC. FIrst, register your number on the do not call list at http://www.donotcall.gov Once you have been registered, report each and every call, the date and time of call. It takes 2 minutes to do it. This company uses numbers in many, many area codes. I've googled at least 10 or more. All the same. I talked to the guy today and told him to take me off the list and he said I had to call my bank to request that. THIS IS ILLEGAL, people. According to donotcall.gov, You may file a complaint if you received an unwanted call after your number was on the National Registry for 31 days. You may also file a complaint if you received a call that used a recorded message instead of a live person (whether or not your number was on the Registry). AND I FIND THIS INTERESTING... "A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $16,000 per incident. "

852-000-8462 is the caller ID coming up for a scam from Account Services that says they can lower my credit card rate by negociating with the issuer of my credit card. When I asked for the ph # of their company they would not give it to me. When I asked to be removed from their ph. list, they hang up. What a Scam!!!

Call came in at 11:51 am MST - I answer and hear a recording "this is Rachel at Card Holder Services....then something about lowering my interest rates....press 9 to speak to a live operator. I press 9 a lady comes in line. I politely ask "Is there someone I can speak to about these calls I keep getting?" She response "It's probably more than one company that's calling you." I respond "No, it is this company and..." The lady hangs up on me before I can complete my sentence.

852-000-8462 is the caller ID coming up for a scam from Account Services that says they can lower my credit card rate by negotiating with the issuer of my credit card. They asked for my name and I gave it to them. When I asked which card they were refering to they hang up.
They called back a few months later same scam except I gave them a different name Ginger, and they obviously looked it up to verify as the guy said Ginger?? then hung up on me again.
Total scam!!!

I waited through the hold music to speak to a representative and asked to be removed from the calling list. The salesperson said, "Absolutely not" and hung up.

If you have caller ID the best thing to do with these type of calls (if you have a lot of time on your hands) is to call back, repeatedly, and don't say anything . You give them a taste of their medicine! + you tie up their phone lines. and generly they won't call back. It's best to not answer the original call, and call back immediately.

Got a call from 852-000-8462 telling me to press 9 if I wanted to lower my interest rate...I did...when the man answered I asked who I was speaking with and he hung up...... Dead give away it is a scam...

Keep receiving automated phone calls from 852-000-8462, same scam Rachel from account services wanting to lower my interest rate. Today I pushed 9 and no one ever answered. Since I have call waiting I put on speaker phone and let it stay on the line for 20 minutes until it disconnected. Maybe it at least tied up one of their phone lines. When I have gotten someone on the line I have requested several times for them to stop calling, but obviously doesn't work. If anyone finds out who this is, post it so we can sue or something. I have seen tips to act naive and see if you can get them to fax you something that might have a company name or traceable fax number on it, get them to tell you who they are or where they are calling from. Will try that next time.

I run a small business from my home and have requested more then a dozen times to be removed from call list, when they call I get through to an agent they say how can I help you and I reply who are calling me which one of my credit cards are you calling about the "agent then curses me out and hangs up. Really classy!!!

Also calling from area code 303 and are up to the same thing. I pressed 9 and informed them that I was on the no call list and asked them to remove me from their calling list. They didn't respond, just immediately hung up. Today I got one from 852-000-8462 around the same time. I ignored it, and they hang up when the answering machine answers. A couple of days ago, the number came up as 303-000-2950. It's kinda' funny knowing they think they've got a 'live one' on the line, but we outsmart them!
Cheryl 2011-06-06 21:00:42 Unknown
I've had the same experience. They keep calling. When I press zero to tell them to take me off their list they say "no!" and hang up.
Lady 2011-06-06 21:00:42 Unknown
I have filed a complaint with the FTC, and can not track these people down to an address, even when I did a cell phone search (tricky). If and when I can I will post, and everyone can go kick some butt.
Scammed 2011-06-06 21:00:42 Unknown
Verizon states that these people can effectively by-pass the 'no-call' system by making up their own numbers. Also, coming from area code 629 & 703 followed by 000-xxxx
Kris 2011-06-06 21:00:42 Unknown
I keep getting calls from that same number, 852-000-8462, same scenario....wanting to lower your credit card interest rate and then when you question anything, they hang up. Know that it is a scam to get your credit card numbers....never give any info to these clowns.
Do go to donotcall.gov and sign up or verify you're still on that list, then file a complaint at that site.

Received a call from 852-000-8462. When I answered the telephone, a recorded message stated that if I wanted to lower my credit rate, I should press "9" to speak to a representative. When the representative answered, I asked her "What credit card company am I speaking with?" she did not answer, and immediately hung up on me. I guess she actually thought I would give out all of my personal information over the telephone.

When I asked to have my number removed from their caller list, I was was called a an expletive. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he repeated the expletive. I tried to call back the number from caller ID; not a valid number.

In addition...
* They had my information supposedly through Experion.
* I asked repeatedly if this would be through a balance transfer.
* They said "no" to whether it was a balance transfer.
* They did not say "yes" to whether we lower your current rate on current accounts.

They worked me for a while.... finally asked me for my 16 digit number as the next step in their "verification process" before passing me along to their "account executive". I said "i am not giving you my 16 digit number" and the fellow said "I guess this is a no-go" and I said "yes" and he hung up without further remark.

Best thing to do with these scammers is waste their time. This is the 2nd time I've been called by them, so I was prepared. I took a lot of time to answer her questions, talking very slowly like an old woman., making up amounts I owed on several credit cards, making up numbers of credit cards, etc. After a few minutes I asked her to hold for a second, put the phone down and went about my business for about 5 minutes, then replaced the handset in its cradle.

They keep calling. One time I answered and they had good news for me, a credit card holder.
I don't own any.
How do I get them to stop calling?
Rick W 2011-02-16 20:44:24 Unknown
Sorry but it is the D that do nothing about this. I spoke with them in person and they refuse. R and L have tried and got voted down. Vote out all the Ds and get in Politicians that care.
