They leave me a message saying that I need a lawyer to resolve this matter. I do not own them any money. I am going to have my phone change so that these scammers can quit calling me.

I was told that instead of telling an unsolicited caller to "take you off of their list"...you must say "put me on your do not call list".  There is evidently a difference between the two.  Good luck!

That's all fine that they received your number from a past, but that does not give them the right to continue calling at all times of the day and night when asked to stop...That's the main issue here.  Just do the right thing as he preaches.

If they have refused to take you off their call lists, then you can send them a cease and desist letter via certified mail/return receipt requested.  That way, if they call again, after receiving this letter, you can take them to court for violations of your request not to call.  You shouldn't have to do this, unfortunately, sometimes that's what it takes for them to obey the law.

For those of you who say they are exempt from the DNC - yes, they are.  However - if they call and they are asked/told to remove the contacted person from their call list, they MUST do so.  Otherwise, they can still be fined for violations of the DNC list.

Just saw this or would have responded long ago. How about the 15+ times they've called and I've asked/pleaded/demanded they remove us from their call list, and they said they would, offering deep, heartfelt apologies, only to have the phone ring a week or so later from Guess Who? And that's been going on for well over a year now!! Is THAT how this ministry works?! Maybe they should stick with the televangical services from Lakewood and get out of the telemarketing business. The Lord no doubt called them to preach, and they may have been called to telemarket, too, but they way they are going about it, the calling must have come from something 180 degrees from the Lord. Gotta watch out for that, you know -- even the otherwise-wonderful Joel Osteen & Co!

You had to at one time give them your number either when visiting their Church or Website or purchasing something from them. They just don't pick your number out of thin air and call you!!! That is not how this Ministry works!!!!!

If they are calling to solicite funds for the ministry,  they are non profit and exempt from the dnc registry.  If they are offering to give  merchandise,  prayer or other services as a gift from the minestry, and you may donate if you like,  it is still exempt.   If they call and offer goods or services in exchange for money,   and this exchange is non-taxable by the irs,  and is used in the operation,  maintenance or charitable services by the minestry it is exempt.

Telemarketing= Telephone-Sales of taxable goods or services for profit.  (Exception---A business may call you over the phone and discuss their products or services,  as long as their ultimate goal is not to generate or  accept a telephone purchase,  but to set up and appointment for  a face to face meeting between you and a representative of that company for the purpose of establishing a business relationship.  Unless you ask that they not call you again,  they can call you again at a later date.  (ususally at least 3 months wait time)

This is the way it was explained to us (my business) during a meeting wih our State Senator.

It also SUCKS!    I personally (and this is just my opnion and I embrace other differing opnions as equally valid)   believe that No one or business should have the right to use any  utility that we personally pay for as their means of gain.   I think that everyone should be able to sit at the supper table and not be called by any telemarketer,  nonprofit,   politician,  SCAMMER,  or anyone else,  with out some type of prior approval.....

Okay........Go ahead a tell me I am full of crap......  and you will probably be right... most all of us are,  we just don't  smell it on ourselves as much as we do others with differing opnions....

According to detective callers who have tracked down this number and all those below, these calls are coming from Joel and Victoria Osteen Ministries. So are the calls Non-Profit or Telemarketing? Hard to say. So far, I have personally confirmed the following numbers as ALL being used by Osteen Ministries. I confirmed them by ( 1) receiving calls from them(!), and (2) tracing the numbers:
855-201-3481
855-201-3861
855-201-3907
855-202-7929
855-202-7930
855-202-7931
855-202-7932
855-202-7933
855-202-7934
855-202-7935
I have done everything from advise callers we are on the national Do Not Call list, and to remove us from their database/s, as I consider them telemarketers ? not non-profiters (although I have no idea how the IRS views this ministry these days) ? to trying to reason with them how wrong I view their tactics as a Christian organization (obviously has had no impact), to attempting to block their numbers, which has been an effort in futility with all the numbers they have access to, just hanging up in frustration, and finally, to simply not answering their calls.
What I think MAY be an important note (maybe): Last week, we had two calls that came before 8am, and that me wonder if perhaps the Osteen org is hiring "at-home" people as callers, and these folks are not following the rules ? any rules! ? set out by the FCC or perhaps even Osteen Ministries itself. This just seems so completely out of character for this ministry, I question whether maybe the business side of the ministry has started a telemarketing program that may have gotten away from it.
Understand I am NOT making excuses for these calls! If my suspicion has any merit, then by now, the Osteen business group has to have had thousands and thousands of complaints and a chance to make things "right". Yet the calls continue unabated, so it's hard to figure.
So until the Osteen?s get their act together, I will continue to complain ? to them and to all the legal entities I can ? until this stops, and I encourage you to do likewise. This is unquestionably the most blatant and widespread abuse of using the phones I have yet seen in my 60+ years, and is sadly yet another black eye for the Christian community that it does not need.

Weird, they called my number asking for my landlord.  So they are matching addresses and not phone numbers to the person they are trying to call.

It's Joel Osteen Ministries.  If you have given before and they have your number, they call from time to time.
