I got a call today concerning one of my Soldiers.  The representative was named, Bob McEroe and he stated that he was going to call JAG on my Soldier. Mr. McEroe stated that my soldier was rude to him on the phone, hung up on him, and was very unprofessional.  Mr. McEroe was quite irate when he spoke with me, and said he was going to call JAG on my soldier, (which honestly, if a Soldier owes you a debt, that is your right).  He wanted as much information about the Army's current location, address, fax number.  When I told him that I would give him the fax so that the matter could be settled, he later declined to submit the information.  He was upset that I would not give him any additional information about the office location, and I refused to give this information considering the importance of security and the safety of my Soldiers.  As a hint, if you call an office looking for someone, you shouldn't be yelling or upset when you do so, that makes you sound hostile.  When I offered to have my Commander call him to settle any issues, he refused to give me a phone number.  Mr. McErore refused to give lots of information, including the Soldier's name.  He said that there was no reason for me to question my people about the call, and to politely leave a note saying that this Soldier needs to call them by their agreed date.  The situation sounded suspicious so I questioned my Soldiers and discovered that they were receiving several harassing phone calls on our government line.  The Soldier requested to have the Firm to call their cell after work hours to settle any issues, but they refused.  The Soldier verified with their creditor that the debt was paid in full, and  Shapiro & Strauss refused to send her paperwork concerning the debt.  I of course do not take it very lightly that a Soldier is receiving harassing calls, especially during work hours, and on our work line.  We will be more than happy to let JAG know about this situation, as well as those in our chain  of Command.  If we receive any further phone calls on this line, I'm directed to send this information to the FBI if they haven't chosen to do so themselves.  It's sad that there are organizations or groups looking to steal money from people, and call people at their place of work.  I don't know how many government agencies that have been called before, but when it comes to the security of our people, we will not take this very lightly.  You can change the Firm name, but we will get your number.

His name is "Bob McEnroe"...phone number is 855-227-3081...picks up the phone every time...he never knows when someone is actually going to write him a check and send it to him. He has called me over two dozen times...I'm not sending him anything...but payback.

These type of bottom feeding companies (using that word very loosely) find out that a debt/lien/judgement/etc is owed...then basically illegally harass you until you pay them something. They will of course "settle" so that they will stop calling...but they are NOT a law firm..."Bob" may have a 8th grade education at best. Do not believe a single word out of his mouth....he can "threatening a subpoena"... but he cannot actually produce one. I only wish they would get a subpoena...love to see him in front of a judge...and then watch him walk to jail.

Do NOT send them money ever. Contact the original debtor and settle with them.

But on a more happier note...

"Bob"...i know you love to come here and read about ALL your victims talking about how BAD you are and how you even threaten the elderly. (I know that one must be your favorite)

But as of tonight, Call my home one more time and I'll let every one on this site...and any other I can find, know how to make YOUR bogus/private 855 phone number...RING...off the hook...nonstop...everyday...until you have to get a new number...then of course...that one will have to ring as well...from guys that are just like you.

Guys that don't take NO...stop calling me for an answer. So again...call me one more time. Or just stop calling everyone. Starting Monday...you'll get a small sample of what is coming. Enjoy the phone calls. Hope you need insurance!!!

5/28/2012: Memorial day of all days,
We received a call from a Jonathan Freeman requesting to confirm a SSN they have on record.  We did not believe what he was asking for and hung up on him.  He then called again and left a message saying ?don't be an ostrich with your head in the sand? and call 1.877.227.3081 Shapiro & Strauss for more information in regards to some unknown matter.  I don?t plan to waste my time talking to these IDIOTS.

Unfortunately corporations of all types can do the same thing and the unwitting taxpayer pays

The illegally obtained a credit report of mine and are attempting to "refinance" the debt.

I got a call from these Ambulance Stalkers the day after Christmas 12/26/11. This guy starts trying to collect an old debt via California Coast Credit Union. Here's the thing ... this debt was adjudicated in my favor during a class-action lawsuit back in 2010 !!!!   Clapper v. California Coast Credit Union.

This guy went on and on about how I misunderstood the judge's decision, and how this "debt" can be settled out-of-court. I told him "bull****, let's settle this in-court." I informed him that I'm a paralegal and I didn't misunderstand the legal ruling. He starts threatening me with his 23 years of law.

I have a letter dated 12/17/2010 from CA Coast CU (Mitzi Zarcone - Senior VP, Lending & Collections) stating that per Class Action Settlement, the loan in question is "voided" and enclosed a check for the amount of $26.44.

This guy starts telling me that I'm misinterpreting the letter. At that point, I let him have it verbally! He terminates the call he initiated.

Should I report this nonsense to the Bar Association?

I JUST PAID 2K TO THESE GUYS! Please tell me how they are a scam please!!!! They sent me a letter and I spoke with chase bank who I got the card from and they walked me through the companies that had it. The company that really owned my credit card bill is Franklyn Asset Management 716-882-5834. These Shapiro guys work for them. Dude I did my homework and it's legit!

This clown is a f'n scam! he messed with the wrong rock star! I called my lawyer and they say he is a scam. he got over 1000$ bucks out of me so give him nothing. now he calls my office and cusses me and talks smack to my boss. I called the police in ny and they say the office is fake and can do nothing. CALL LOCAL POLICE! I did and this punk is gonna lean the hard way! also call the troubleshooter Tom Martino at 303-713-8255 m-f from 9am to noon mountain time to complain! together we will bust this F-Head!

A family member of mine has been getting harassing phone calls from this company. They called her threatening her over the phone using foul language in order to collect a debt and even calling her job and talking about her debt to her co-workers. In her case, it is really a debt she owed so out of fear, she gave in and settled over the phone for a large amount. She took their word for it without calling the original lender first.
So she started to do some research about this company. Come to find out they have transformed themselves from  Bryant and Layfayette and Associates, to Blackmon and Layfayette, and now The Offices of Shapiro and Strauss.  They say their address is 3407 Delaware Avenue  Buffalo, NY 14217. When you ask them to send something in the US mail, they say they have already sent stuff to you so they may say "we can email you instead." Always ask for a current bill to mailed to your address, do not confirm any info even if  its correct, if  you have paid them already, ask for a letter of confirmation in the US mail and call your original lender.  They are breaking laws!!!!!!!!!

There are all flavors of "lawyers" in this world. I think we can all agree that in this case, if they even are lawyers, we are talking bottom feeders. A legitimate Law Firm would contact you in writing.They will call you at any number that can be assosiated with you, or your relitives, or your workplace. They violate the laws on a daily basis. So called "debt collectors" can also transform into "lawyers" when they feel it will create fear and/or a motivation to settle in a debtor. There is just about nothing they will not do as long as they think they can get away with it. Deamnd proof of any alleged debt in writing and say nothing else to them. Do not confirm any information at all over the phone.

To be honest NO LAW FIRM will call your home over a debt. So Melanie I don't believe you either! You are a liar.

i dont know much about them but i do know that they helped me when the called me about a credit card i couldn't pay on a couple years ago... The guy i spoke with was fairly nice, kind of a nerd but he was at least reasonable and gave me a great deal on my account and im finally though with it.. compared to another company that called me on one of my other credit cards these guys where 10x more professional and put everything in writing.

I just hung up with these guys, they offered me a deal on some debt i owed! I had them email me a over a letter just in case they try to change their mind!!!! I'm never paying the full amount of any bill again for the rest of my life!!! They took all the interest off then they split the rest in half!!! I love america! the only place where you can spend 5k on a credit card and 5 years later only pay back 2k lol!!!

Got this call today said they were from Shapiro & Strauss law firm.  I did not believe them and saw no such firm on a google search.  The are a debt collector or even worse a scam.  Do not give out info to them.

My mother received a call from them yesterday; my dad passed away last month and she thought it was someone from social security. She returned there call an hour ago and they asked for her ss# and she gave it to them. I am freaking out. They gave her no information, they told her that Angela Bennett called her and that she would have her return her call.
