I got a text about a job I applied for a few days ago. However, I feel that I shouldn't have to call them if I submitted my resume to the place of employment. I think its a little odd that they are calling me. I feel that its a scam and when I have read the comments choose not to call back because of others comments.

I got the text yesterday (I applied for a position the night before).  After reading these comments, I just called the number back & spoke to Ralph.  He informed me that the call may be monitored and could take about 30 minutes.  He stated that he was a Job Board Verification Specialist at Applicant Tree &  he needed to verify my information to see if I was a match for the position. Based on my answers to the questions the would refer me to other job matches...if I wasn't a match for the initial position I applied for.

He knew my name, address, phone number & email, so I verified by saying, 'yes' to the info he already had.

He asked about my education, what was the highest level of education & whether I was looking for full-time or part-time.  I informed him that I was a student & I was looking for part-time.  He then informed me that I would receive an email tomorrow, containing a user name/password that would allow me to access other job openings.

The call lasted about 10 minutes.  I hope this helps

Yep, got  a text a minute ago. How frustrating! I've been looking for a job for months. Scammers are terrible. What site did they get my resume off of? Anyone else have their resumes on careerbuilder/monsters/ etc?

I just received a txt message from AppTree.  I called back and spoke with Theodore who told me he was calling about an application I put in yesterday for a receptionist position.  Said the call would take up to 45 min.  Asked me if I was planning on furthering my education to make me more marketable.  When I told him "no", he said good luck and hung up.

School recruiting tactics are the lowest form of slime I have seen.  People are looking for a job to earn money, not to go in debt more by taking out thousands of dollars in student loans.  SCUM!

Me too. I received a call regarding a job. I did apply for it. She said she needed some questions answered. I'm a receptionist so I told her I would call her during my lunch. Never did...

Yes, I got the same text yesterday, and was suspicious YESTERDAY, but actually called them back today just out of curiousity and interview practice. I guess I am gullible. A woman supposedly named Debra picked up stating their company is a third party vendor to the job I'd applied to, who conducts phone screens of candidates to see if they are a good fit, prior to forwarding their information to the employer for further consideration. She said the call would take up to 30 minutes. I exclaimed, "Thirty Minutes? Why if you have my resume?" She asked various introductory pretty non-invasive questions that a recruiter would typically ask, about my work history, why I wanted to change employers, blah blah, however when it came to my education I KNEW something was up. I briefly touched on my education but went on about my experience, but she kept reverting back to my education, and asking would I be interested in an associate's degree in my field, (when I am eligible to go for my Master's). It got quite annoying when she asked on a scale from 1-10, how much do I want to go back to school, and would I want to go back in the next 2 months. Clearly annoyed and catching on to her crap I said, "No!" in which she replied, "Well I can't help you then!" (Click)

SCAM ARTISTS. I feel so violated. What has this world come to?

I just got a text as well. I didn't call it. I feel any legit professional place would call me or email at the very least. If they want me, they can get off their rear and make a phone call.
