Debt Collector
I received a call today from 8552943553 from a mr ferguson. He stated to me that I owd 500 for a loan that I took out in 2011 and that I needed to make a payment in full today or papers would be filed and sent to my human resources department. I asked him what was the name of the loan company and all he could tell me was that it originated from a site called loan.com and that he was unaware of the actual company that provided me with the loan. He added a lady to the call and she told me they verified with TD bank that I had indeed received the funds in june of 2011 and a representative at td bank verified that the money was deposited in my account. At that point I was sure that It was a scam. I had no TD bank account in june 2011. then both said that many people pretend that they ddnt receive the funds to get out of paying and all I could do was laugh at that point. I simply hung up the phone. something told me to google the number and of course you all are posting about receiving calls from the same people

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Also alert your HR Dept - you cannot have your wages garnished without a court judgment.  If the caller is refusing to mail anything, this is a violation of the FDCPA.  Most likely, he is a scammer, trying to scare you into paying a bogus debt.  If he calls you again, let him know that on the advice of your lawyer, you're recording all calls he makes to you (at home and work).

The gentleman only identified himself as Andrew Coffeey and that he had already spoken with my HR department and would be having money taken out of my check. I asked him to mail me the information inorder for me to forward it to my lawyer, and not to call me at work. He said you dont have 1 or 2 mins to talk. Again I said I'm at WORK, DO NOT CALL ME AT WORK. Please mail me the information in writing. He then said I don't have time to mail you anything. I let him know then I have no time to speak with you and hung up.

Tell them to forward it to HR  as soon as possible.   They probably need a good laugh.  The Boiler Room Boys in India/Pakistan have  found a new way to try to extort through  the HR  Dept. (New words in their vocabulary)
Simply make your supervisor as well as anyone else that should be aware,  that it is an ongoing scam that originates out of India and there is nothing that you can do about it.   Don't let this intimidate you.  They are sitting in a cubical in Southern Asia.   Also,  FYI:   Termination without Cause or the Threat of,    is illegal and they can be sued.  Keep files and records,  just in case.

Different people keep calling me at work leaving messages that say they received paperwork and they need to speak with me immediately before they forward the paperwork over to my HR Department. They only leave their name and the number to call them back on but they don't say what business or company they are calling from and they make the message sound very urgent. It must seems very suspicious to me.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Had a call from a Migid McCarth and she stated that she needed to speak with my husband concerning a person he was associated with by the name of Carol Work.  My husband doesn't know anyone by this name, nor has he done business with anyone by this name.  These telemarketers need to find something else to do instead of making unnecessary calls to the working class of individuals.  In todays society, this could be very scary for an elderly person!!

This lady called my home number and told my child that she had gotten a claim on her desk and that she was going to contact my husbands employer. Well good luck with that my husband works for the dept of defense and I don't know how to contact him at work. What I don't get is why they don't send a letter in the mail to let us know what this is concerning.
