I got the same type of calls. My mother was notified of documents being issued out to me. I called back to see what was the problem, and it turns out that the documents were sent to my old address and that is why I never got them. I didnt have any real issues with them after this, I just took care of the matter.

I got this call too for my ex husband who I haven't seen in 10 years. They had my address and asked if he was living with me. I told them no and that he didn't even live in the same state as me. They made it sound like they were from the city in fact she said she was from the city he lived in. No where did they say anything about being apart of collections. They called again and left a message a couple of days later saying it was going to court and they would summons at my address. Then they called my grandparents saying the same thing. I don't think any of this crap is legal.  Also I don't know how they got my cell number.

Debt Collector
855-332-7551 keeps calling for my sister...on my husbands cell phone!!  He isnt even related to her.  We havent seen or spoke to her in years. They have called his number twice when he is at work! I found on internet debt collectors cannot contact a person more than once...friends family members etc. Called the number directly lady identified herself as Stephanie Rose at first just as an operator.  When I asked to speak to someone else, she was being very rude and said they could send a police officer or processor to my husbands work.. all of a sudden she was a paralegal. I got pissed, said NO WAY can you send a document to be signed by my sister for my sister can be served to and at my husbands work... She became very rude and hung up on me. But not before she called me my sisters name! I called back, told her my name and told her I will give her all my info to establish I am NOT my sister and the phone calls need to stop.
She stated she would remove my husbands cell number.  I hope so, or I will be contacting my attorney.

If you really were to appear in court, you would have received a summons delivered by an officer of the court, not a phone call by an unknown party.    Shady - you bet!!!  This sounds like a bottom feeding debt collector who is trying to extort money from you.  If the norm holds true, expect a call that the police are coming, etc - that's a lie and a violation of the fair debt reporting act.  You don't go to jail even if you did owe a debt.

These people left a message with someone that I know saying I was due in court today and if I don't show they are going to get a summons. They left a file number and this phone number. I have not been able to find any info on this "Smorean & Associates Legal Offices" This all seems shady

Left a message one day saying they're verifying my address an left a file number. Told me to call back within 24 hours or they would be mailing my documents. Got a call a day later with  a blocked number but this time spoke in Spanish and repeated the same thing. This happen to anyone else?
