They called yesterday, too.
Said he was from command lighting, a local company (I don't buy it).
Asked to speak with the person who handles the lighting for our company (our offices and warehouses are not owned by us).
I asked him if he had a name of the person he wanted to talk to.
He gave me the name of one of the company presidents (the first one alphabetically). So, he has A name, but its not the person who handles ANYTHING other than finances for the company he personally oversees.
If I were to bet, i would bet it was one of those scams wherein they send you a $10 light bulb along with an invoice for $750.

Received a call today from a boy who wouldn't identify himself or what his call was about. He asked me of I had any employees. I said no then he simply hung up. It's a damn shame technology is slowly leading to this planets demise!!!

got the same call from this number, wanting to update labor law posters, anyone in business knows you can get them for free from your state govt
Badge714 2013-07-03 18:35:03 Unknown
It's a scam. Yes, business are required to post them in the workplace. But they are free. Just go to the Government web site, print them off (for free) & put 'em up. This scam has been around for a while.

I received the below e-mail from Brandon, I never asked for a quote from them, and never heard of them.
**********
Here is our quote of $109.99 for your State & Federal labor law poster set. This includes S/H and 12 months of free unlimited updates with NEW posters sent out every time there is a change in the labor laws. We also offer our service for $89.99 per year if you sign up for 3 years. Both State & Federal posters also come in Spanish should you require them.
IT'S THE LAW
Employers must post Labor Laws and Safe Practice Posters that apply to their industry. The law requires every employer to post several mandatory notices in conspicuous locations through out the workplace. Each mandatory posting notice must contain specific content and text as prescribed by law and the enforcing government agency. The law requires many workplace postings to be a certain size, the posting text to be a certain font size, and for employers to take steps to protect postings from damage.
H.R. COMPLIANCE
7 Posters in 2: Alerting employees on health care laws, dealing with emergencies and creating a sexual harassment & drug free workplace. Includes postings on: (Emergency Procedures, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Avoiding the Flu, Drug Free Workplace, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Fire Extinguisher, Sexual Harassment).
INDUSTRY SPECIFIC A/B SAFETY POSTERS
2 Posters, covering important information in 12 industries: Agriculture , Auto , Bars & Clubs , Child Care, Construction, Federal Contractors, Health Care, Manufacturing, Mortuaries, Pharmacies, Restaurants and Retail. Includes postings on: (First Aid, Slips Trips and Falls, Safe Lifting, Hand Washing, Choking, Blood Borne Pathogens, Teen Workers, Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E), Etc...).

This call was on my Caller ID from before we opened today, and they didn't leave a message on my voice mail.
get a real job 2013-06-19 15:32:54 Unknown
I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

Guy calls and threatens to send someone to my business to see if I posted labor posters. I don't have any employees at my business. Not sure if it's a good idea for someone to stop by my place unannounced; I may mistake them for a burglar.
Scott R 2013-05-16 17:38:20 Unknown
Answered, heard heavy breathing with a lot of people in the background. Said hello again, no one said anything - hung up.
Elspeth 2013-05-01 21:13:56 Unknown
You're correct - I used to work in HR and we would print most of our Labor Law updates from the Dept of Labor website. For free. :)
tony 2013-05-01 20:48:01 Unknown
claiming he is a government agency .just trying to sell posters and threatning people .get the posters directly from the labor department.

855-350-6555 - Same as all of the rest above. Received a call from a monkey with a script. I could literally hear hundreds of people in the background all reading the same scripts. Said he worked at Nationwide Compliance and that my company was required to purchase the Compliance Posters from them. Required? I think not. My company IS required to post the compliance sheets, but how I obtain them is my own problem. I do NOT have to buy a damn thing from this company, or any other company like it. They are clearly a scam outfit. Plus, you can easily download and print out the State and Federal Compliance sheets (it does NOT have to be a poster contrary to popular belief) for FREE from your State and Federal Government websites. Companies like this who pull scams and claim to be government entities should be shut down. Reporting the call to the FCC, as our business number is on the Do-Not-Call list and has been for quite a while. Here's their info : Safety Service Company, http://www.nationwidepubs.com - http://ourbbbproxy.bbb.org/central-northern-w ... 1583/complaints

Rec'd a call from "Andre" who asked to speak to an owner or manager; I said there was none available and he hung up! Pain in the a**. I have to stop tattooing and remove my gloves in order to answer the phone, and then they hang up! I have filed a complaint against this number with the Do Not Call Registry as well as the numerous others who repeatedly call.

Same thing as the above posts; some guy named named "Rick" wanted to talk to the owner/manager to update employee compliance. I said I just work for my self and I don't have any other employees. Man said he would take me off the call list - I wonder if he will. Caller ID read: Free Call Toll 855-350-6555. It's a telemarketer scam no doubt. I called back number and got voice mail that said "You have reached Nationwide Publishing....yup, Woosan was correct LOL!
