Something I have found to work with these types.  They HATE having YOU dominate the conversation.  They KNOW you aren't fearful or concerned, and it totally throws them off track.   So, IF you choose to speak to these types, try this:

They call, you recognize the # (probably to say "legal documents to deliver")?You answer the phone, they ask for the person (maybe) ?BEFORE THEY HAVE TIME TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE you tell them the information you REQUIRE:
You: What is the
1-Company name,
2-Company address
3-Local telephone number of your company AND
4-Name of company?s CEO/President's name
5-What is your CCA#

Them: "Well, we don't give that out for 'security reasons.'  "
You: "I'm sure you will appreciate that, FOR SECURITY REASONS, until I AM GIVEN THE INFORMATION I REQUIRE, NOTHING you say is of ANY interest to me.  Good bye." and hang up

This may be a situation of "Shampoo, Rinse, Repeat" but, sooner or later, they figure out until you have YOUR information, you really do NOT give a flying leap what they have to say.
IF they give this info, make them hold on while you check it out online, including their business license with the Secretary of State of whatever state they give!

YES, and the President of your company should have caught that, as well  AND needs to refresh his memory on the FDCPA.  You might even print this page for him.  If REAL debt collectors are told NOT to call a person's employment, they MUST NOT call there again.
"Debt collectors" that are calling about serving papers are FRAUDS.  Process servers do NOT call first.  A legitimate debt collector KNOWS the debtor's work and home addresses, etc.

While your response may not have been "professional," I'd be tempted to forward calls from this number and others like it (and there are MANY) to your President, and let HIM enjoy them for just a week.  These people are nothing but vermin that rats nor roaches would even want to eat.

Debt Collector
Tom Peterson called from 855-404-9048 wanting to "serve" an employee  with papers.  As HR we have received debt collection harassment calls in the past, so the red flags went up.  He recorded our conversation, I was as equally annoying to him as he has been to me.  He then called the President of my company and played the recording.  Needless to say I got in big trouble.  Yes, I was very unprofessional BUT we found out later, he was nothing more than a debt collector for a Check and Loan trying to harass an employee and making her look bad.  I have filed a claim with the state of Ohio as I am suggesting we all do.  Maybe power by numbers can stop this practice.  Its interesting on he refused to give me the name of his company.

THIS IS A SCAM!!! BEWARE, THEY JUST WANT YOUR INFORMATION!

A family member received a call from 855-404-9048 wanting to speak with my husband. He gave a claim # for reference and asked to have my husband call. We checked the number out online to see if we could find out who it was. Instead, my husband then got a call from an Idaho number 208-904-3794 and the guy said his name was Tom Peterson from "Global" and said he was in Texas. Basically he was trying to "collect a debt", supposedly a loan from a "Check-n-Go" or "Check and Loan" in Texas was taken out in my husband's name back in May... no monetary amount was mentioned. He tried to verify social, address and birthdate, etc. When the hubby wasn't buying into it, he said he needed to verify something with the company and would call back. When Tom called again (minus the Texas accent) from the 208 number, he said he needed to deliver some papers... he wanted to know where my husband was and he would bring them to him. When the hubby didn't fall for that he said he would deliver them to the family member in 20 minutes then... and, didn't show up.

Got a call from 352-702-3265. The guy said he was Kevin Jones and that IDEA needed to contact some outfit called "Global Processing" about charges pending against me. I called the number, 855-404-9048 and a pre-recorded voice said the call was being recorded. When someone answered I informed her that I was recording the call also and she said "I am not authorizing you to record this call." I then told her we had nothing more to talk about and hung up. It's some kind of scam.
