No, 855-425-2273 is the phone number for hcltouch.com and hcltouchbusiness.com, and NOT AOL. hcltouch offers "AOL Support" but this may be just support from an independent 3rd-party IT shop and not AOL.

855-425-2273 is used by hcltouch.com and hcltouchbusiness.com.  Re. "I then phoned a different AOL customer service number and asked them if AOL ever referred folks to Microsoft and they said they did", you should call back that same number and ask them if AOL referred folks to hcltouch.com for IT support, not Microsoft, because hcltouch is NOT Microsoft. hcltouch offers "Windows Support" for $170/year but this doesn't look like official Microsoft support to me, it looks like support from an independent 3rd-party IT shop. They also offer "AOL Support" but I don't know if they are officially contracted by AOL to provide support to AOL members. The fact that they told you "all my computers and I-phones etc would be hacked unless I bought their service" is not a good sign because no legit IT shop will tell you that. Their FAQs webpage has a lot of words but not much content. Beware there are scammers who have been calling up victims and scamming them into paying to fix problems the victims' PCs did NOT have  http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml  Given all the posts above, I strongly advise you to stay away from 855-425-2273. If you have PC problems, take your PC and system discs to a local IT shop and pay them to fix it.

I too had an experience with this group.  I was referred to them via an AOL customer service operator, who said it was Microsoft. They did something to my computer and then said all my computers and I-phones etc would be hacked unless I bought their service for which they wanted $ 499+ and with a senior discount of $399.  Needless to say I declined their service.  I then phoned a different AOL customer service number and asked them if AOL ever referred folks to Microsoft and they said they did.
I have just come back from a meeting of my computer club's interest group.  The program was on computer security.  There were about a hundred plus folk there.  The speaker said: "how many of you have been hacked?"  Everybody raised their hand.
If anybody can tell me how to check this outfit mentioned above out let me know.  It looks to me like we have some rogue operators in a company in cahoots with the customer service folks at AOL.  If I'm wrong another  explanation might be that the bad guys are winning or have won.

My aol account was hacked so I looked up a number to call to have my issue fixed.  I called the 855-425-2273 number to have my aol account fixed...well they did not fix it.  I gave them my pass words to look up the account and they wanted to charge me $500.00 to black list the IP that hacked me...not even fix the problem....WHAT?!?!
I am very upset with the people at the end of this number and plan on reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for claiming to be aol teck support.  Now I will spend endless hours changing all my information, passwords, ect on eveyrthing beacuse this company mis informed me.

A man named "John" with a thick Indian accent attempted to represent himself as a rep for AOL. Lured me into taking control of my computer to sort out a hacking incident. Led to his offer to provide security protection forever for my computers for $525, which as we argued he later reduced to $299, all the while claiming to be an AOL employee and warning my computers will crash at any moment. I hung up and he called back 3 times in succession. Avoid this number, it is not what it seems.
